Cole looked at the girl when she said the church was accepting of her when she worked there. He thought for a moment before saying “do show the bum on the street that was nice enough to pick up what you dropped feel accepted. Sure you do but you know without thinking that he is still just a bum and useless to you” he would pause for a sec letting it sink in. “That's how the church looks at everyone as long as your willing to do what they say. They will make you feel like your doing the right thing. Their the most manipulative people on the planet, and they say we are the masters of deception” he would add before taking another bite from his food. He had been eating faster than he thought however and was already halfway through his plate of lasagna.

After a few moments cole would ask “Have you ever done something against the rules before”?

Cole seemed to be getting more energetic the more he spoke about the church. Kari soon felt like she could not say anything and she regretted adding to this conversation. She agreed somewhat with the man. After becoming a ninja, the church did treat her poorly. The people who bullied her before now had a greater hate and their pranks became more dangerous. However, that temple did give her a job. The pay was low and they only had her cleaning but Kari knew she was not good at the social stuff. Could that have been a deceptive tactic. Before Kari realized it, she was running her fork around her plate and was clamming up. She would not break from it, not until the man changed the conversation. She did not think of Cole as a bad person anymore but she could not shake the scene with him going berserk. After all it was the entire reason she was here, beside the free food as payment for her sandwiches.

There was a long pause and then Cole asked Kari if she ever broke the rules. Kari froze. It was an interesting question. Legally no, Kari never broke any rules. However as a child she did get in trouble a couple of times so that would make the answer yes. Kari actions however have been guided towards getting praise, mostly from her father. So she could not think of a rule she broke. The only thing she could possible say was becoming a ninja went against her father's plan, but that was not a rule per say.

Cole keeping an eye out for people watching them. He noticed that it was starting to get a little dark outside as the sun was starting to sit now. He also noticed that there were more people in the restaurant now. They were close to being finished with their meals now and Cole knew that the time was getting close. Leaning forward onto the table letting his elbows touch the table and the hand to the outside of the table on the side of his jaw. “You know stayed out past curfew or stole something from someone else don’t matter if it was a mission or not” cole would wait for a few moments to see what Kari would say. During that time cole could hear raindrops starting to hit the roof. Looking up cole could see that the glass part of the roof in the middle of the room had rain falling down the sloped sides of it. “Perfect” he would say to himself almost under his breath Kari would probably be able to hear it but it would be almost a whisper.

Kari pondered on the examples. She could not think of anything that fit the bill. Her father never believed in restrictions that were not for safety. There was a day she stood up late and her father did not let her sleep the whole working day. That was a punishment for making a poor choice. Kari debated with herself until she came to the conclusions.
"No... I don't think I have been in those situations," Kari shook her her head to further sell the idea, "If it was a mission... I would break any rule."
She believed she could break the law if the mission required. The important thing there was success. However, these questions made no sense.
"Why are you asking such weird questions?" Kari lowered her eyes, trying to see if she could pick out something from her face as she ate the last of her food. The boy would lift his head and look at the sky. A quiet tattering filled the quiet air, the tattering of rain. Kari did not mind. Her cloaks were water proof and she could use it as an umbrella should it get too bad. The boy however would lower his head and say perfect under his breath.
"Do you like the rain too?"
Kari thought the rain to be very tranquil. Though it was noisy, it drowned out everything else making it much easier to think and fall asleep. Also it gave her a reason to sit still or better, stay at home. If only she was home now. Kari returned Cole, still curious about his answers to her questions.

She had never broken any rules before cole thought to himself. Before he looked up to see the rain falling "Do you like the rain too" she would ask? “I do at times” cole would tell her. “It's peaceful letting you think as it drowns the world out, but at the same time if you're not careful it will tell everyone where you are going and let them follow you” he would explain further. While sliding his plate over to the side of the table as he had taken the last bite of his lasagna. Looking around the place was starting to fill up with people standing by the door waiting to get seated. Cole counted the people and based on who was standing with who and talking to each other cole figured up how many groups there were coming into the store. There would be two groups waiting for a table, and that told cole to ask for the check now. He would raise his hand in the air motioning for the check by rubbing his index and forefinger together. The waiter understood and would come running over with a black slim container holding the bill that cole would have to put the money in.

Looking over at Kari “Their starting to get busy and is going to need this table how about we move our little discussion outside” he would ask? He would wait for Kari to give him an answer before saying “Why don’t you go wait for me by the door I'll pay for the food and they can have the change for a tip and I'll meet you over their?”

The restaurant was started to get more and more crowded. With more people, meant more noise which the rain was losing the ability to drown out. Kari returned her gaze to Cole. He liked the rain too and for the same reasons. Maybe he was not as dumb as she thought. She was slowly realizing that everything bad she thought about Cole was well, a misjudgment, corrupted by the situation she was forced in. Sure he was still a thief but he paid back he crimes, something her father would even forgive. After all, debt was debt. Once it was paid off, everything was good.

The boy was also finish with his food. It was great timing, though now that her belly was full, her brain hungered for knowledge. She wished she asked him to share his noodle dish. Not that it looked good or anything, but just to experience it. Perhaps she would save up money and come here. Maybe she would also bring Terumi too. He had interesting taste. Suddenly Cole started making some weird motions and the waiter would walk over with a black container. Some secret code? No, probably something to do with this type of establishment, a custom if you will. Kari would ignore it and returned her gaze to the rain.

Only, Cole's voice stole what little of the tattering she could hear left. Kari let out a sigh, not wanting to move. It was a nice area and she wanted to draw more. Kari would nodded in agreement with his request. If they were outside, it would be less noise and since people did not like rain, she could relax more. Kari would remain quiet as the boy gave her another request. If this was the beginning of the date, she would have used this time to run away, but that action was not needed now. Cole was not dangerous anymore. Kari simply got up, without looking at the man and walked over to the door. As another group nearly bumped into her due to her being so short, Kari, decided to dawn her cloak and walk outside. As long as she did not face anyone, nobody should have noticed her symbol on the front of her cloak. Kari removed the bans from her hair, so it could just fall to the side. It was easier to deal with this way should it get wet. Finally, she would lift her hand out and feel each drop of water fall splash into her palm. A pleasant feeling that made it easier to lose herself in the rain.

Cole stood up with Kari and watched as she walked over to the door. When she was about halfway cole turned back around and picked up the slim black container while reaching into his pocket. 65 dollars he thought to himself as he pulled out what was left in his pocket. Cole dropped a few pieces of pocket lint and an old movie ticket into the container and walked to the door. He was acting normal but also like he was trying to catch up with Kari at the same time. Meaning that he was being polite and letting people through tight areas while moving fast. Once he was at the door he would lock elbows with Kari and give her a little pull “Well let's get going” he would say while tugging at her arm. She had let her hair down now and was doing a good job at blending in as well. Walking outside of the restaurant cole would look back through the window where they had been sitting. The waiter was there and opened the container to see what cole had left.

The waiter swung around in a blur yelling to stop the two kids. Cole knowing it was coming “Hay don’t take any offense to this but we need to move fast” he would say as he swooped Kari off of her feet at a speed of 120. He would then move at the same speed to the alley was he would then jump onto the nearest rooftop. “Sorry this next part might be a bit jarring” he would tell Kari as he moved his hands close enough to make a single hand sign. While cole jumped over to the next roof upon landing his speed would hit 190 as he body flickered across the roof stopping just before the edge and jumping again. He would repeat this process for a few hundred meters which would only take a few seconds at the speed at which cole was moving.

He would stop and jump down off of the roof next to a bench by the river. Both of them would be soaked at this point in the rain. “Sorry about that they wanted to overcharge for a half decent meal” cole would say as he sat down on the bench. “Well now you can say you have actually done something bad now” he would add with full belly laugh as he was starting to come down from the adrenaline rush.

The next few seconds for Kari were peaceful. Her stomach was satisfied and asleep. The cool mist from the rain gently soothed her skin. Kari could forget the world for the moment. Only the world would not forget her. Her immersion with the rain would cease as she felt Cole lock his arm with hers. Apparently it was time for them to leave, but were would they go? Kari only agreed to have a replacement lunch. Anything after was her choice and she made no obligation spend anymore time with the boy. Before Kari could say something, he pulled her into his chaotic tempo. Then a voice broke through the rain. A loud voice that cursed both her and Cole. The question was why. Did Cole do something to the waiter? Kari was reserved the entire time so she was positive she did nothing to provoke such an obstruction to the peaceful mood.

Suddenly Cole decided that she was too slow, which was honestly true. Kari did not want to rush nor did she know why she needed too. Cole did not need her for anything, at least she thought. Still, the boy would continue to act in such an irrational fashion and pick up Kari. One apologize later, the world blurred as her eyes lost the ability to process anything. The only thing Kari knew was that she was moving fast as the cold wind hugged her face. Her body was paralyzed until she felt a sudden stop. Only, it would start up again. Like a never ending roller coaster, Kari fought with every fiber in her body to stay awake and hang on to her soul. It did not help that the once calm rain stung her face like bug bites as the boy cut through the air. After traveling an unknown distance, the ride was over. Kari was breathing heavily while her hair was frizzy and stunned by the wind. It kept the shape he used while resting against Cole's chest. Slowly the rain mend physics back into the girl's body as she fought 3 different feelings. The first was shell shock derived from suddenly moving at an insane speed. The second was being drenched from the assault of the tiny droplets against her entire body. The third was confusion for not knowing what happened.

"What... are... you... doing?" Kari struggled to push words out of her body as her breath was still lagging behind. The answer would surprise her despite not being surprising. The boy did steal her lunch. To think he could not afford to pay those high prices. If her father ever found out, no she would have to keep it between them. Sure she would probably never be able to see that place again but now she was the same type of scum as Cole. Kari sighed. "I... I just want to go home."
Kari lowered her head. Today was a day to remember. So many things happened to the girl that argue made it terrible but at the same time, she did get to see and learn a lot of new things. As she walked away, she stopped. Sure the boy did drag her into his own scheme but he did repay the meal, in his own way.

"Thank you... though, today was interesting..."
With another step, Kari felt her body lag. Then she stumbled. She was tired, so tired. Kari verred over to a tree, hoping to stay out of the rain and sat down, "Maybe I should wait a little long." If Cole wanted to wait with her, she would not object. How could she after all?

Cole settled back down as Kari sit down on the other end of the bench under the tree. He noted that the rain was lessened by her sitting there while he was still taking the full brunt of it. His shirt was sticking to his body and was starting to get annoying, so cole would stand up and start to unbutton his shirt. “Hay you know now you can say you have done something most people wouldn’t dream of doing” he would tell her. Pulling the soaked black shirt off of his arms while trying not to tear the sleeves off. He would sit down beside her throwing his shirt on the back of the bench. He felt a lot better now that it wasn’t sticking to him, and Kari could see the small bones that were no bigger than sewing needles that were stitched into his skin. They ran all over his body and the rain only made it more noticeable than before.

“Hey look at it this way if all you ever do is train and fight without any downtime and fun than you are not really living. You have to enjoy the moments in life that gets your blood pumping outside of battle” cole would tell her. He would offer her his hand “come with me the nights still young” he would say while standing back up with his hand extended. “And I promise we won’t do anything else that is illegal. At least I don’t think it is” he would have a smile on his face showing that he was being honest and that he was just wanting to have some more fun before they called it a night.
