The Ragdoll and The Zombie (Kenshin) - Page 2 Empty Re: The Ragdoll and The Zombie (Kenshin)

Thu Mar 28, 2019 8:40 pm
A sharp snap filled the area as a fit of blood left his lips, and for a moment his hands let go of the staff as he sighed a happy sigh and looked into the eyes of the monster who had finally ended his life. There was no malice in his eyes as he afforded a small laugh as he gripped the chain as best he could and looked at the man he once called a friend as he responded," Why you ask? Because if no one fought for his life...if not one person fought for what he was...then how would you honestly remember him? He was my friend...and gave me back my life as a taijutsu practitioner... I owed him a lot... and for that I would fight hell itself. But to answer your question of why? Because every monster has a silver lining don't they huh? Finally my tale can end and I can finally rest with my family," there was a small coughing fit before a small spray of blood escaped the confines of his lips.

He could feel his life ebbing away as the lightning that once encompassed his body began to wane slowly and he stared at Kenshin for once final moment," You were a good friend even if a little odd...and stringy. Try not to explode the world...and make sure I don't come back," and with that? The small smile that had once encompassed his dying face, would soon fade as the lightning did as well and he went limp. A final breathe escaped as the light in his eyes slowly fell and soon? The zombie was now dead. His body sat lifeless and limp in the chains of the Ragdoll, and in Mo-ri's final moments the staff had expanded in the ground into his full form and sat there, as if a tomb for the young chuunin of the stars. A burden that would serve as his final resting place and legacy if you could call it that. Finally...Mo-ri Jin could rest.

The Ragdoll and The Zombie (Kenshin) - Page 2 Empty Re: The Ragdoll and The Zombie (Kenshin)

Fri Mar 29, 2019 2:17 am
Kenshin would listen with apathy as the slowly dying man began to spill his heart to the monster that had ended his tale, and in the end The Ragdoll only found his tale to be all the more tragic by the end. He had been fighting for both Kotetsu and his memory… yet the man was long dead by this point, and now, with his own death, a great many memories  of the very man that he had been fighting for were forever lost. It was relatively obvious to Kenshin that Kotetsu had to have been behind the mechanical arm that the dying man bore, as that was the only possible way that someone without Medical Ninjutsu could have given him his life as a Taijutsu user. However, this only reinforced Kenshin’s view on emotions being a hinderance to a good shinobi. Mo-ri had been a very skilled fighter, a little limited in how heavily he seemed to be specialized in close quarters combat, but a skilled fighter nonetheless. Yet he had given it all up, thrown his life away… all for the memory of a dead man. The albino simply couldn’t understand it, and he doubted that he ever would.

Perhaps this was the perfect example of how different Kenshin was to others. If his words were to be taken at face value then Mo-ri had lost everyone and everything that he had ever cared about, his family, and now his friend… and it had destroyed the man to the point that he had welcome death. The albino had lost his family a long time ago, his mother to childbirth, his father to suicide… and he had abandoned both his uncle and his cousins when he defected from Konoha. The only friends that he had ever made were lost to him, Keito… the Uchiha that he had met so long ago, someone who he imagined might have turned out like Kutari if he had been allowed to live and grow. Shiro and Dusk, one lost in a mission and the other lost within his own fractured mind, spending all of his time within his creation and slowly killing himself out of a sense of duty. Ayato and Shouhei, two promising shinobi that he had met in Hoshi, had gotten along well with… yet had simply fallen out of contact with over the years as he grew colder and more distant. And finally… Valen, perhaps the closest thing that he had nowadays to a friend… he had willingly abandoned him the moment that it became clear that Hoshigakure was only holding him back.

Even the ones that he loved were lost to him. Akihana, the woman who he had come to love and view as a mother… her death had hurt him in a way that words truly couldn’t describe, but in the end his undying rage had won over his sadness and he defected from the village that she had helped create. Genevieve… in his rage he had left her behind with nary a word, if he had done such a thing could what he felt for her truly be love? Or was it simply some twisted craving that he had for the unfortunate woman? He truly didn’t know… and that was the most disturbing thing about it. But despite all of the loss that he had faced, all the pain that he had inflicted upon both himself and others… The Immortal didn’t feel what Mo-ri did. The closest thing that he had felt was when Akihana had died… and even then he hadn’t lost his will to live or desired to die… no, he had desired nothing more than to see this wretched world burn. And perhaps he still did, perhaps that was the true reason why he was doing all of this. It wouldn’t be a lie for him to admit that even he didn’t truly know the reason behind his actions at times, and while he knew that such a fact should scare him… it didn’t. Perhaps there was no real reason… perhaps he had been telling the truth when he had said that he was only doing this because he wanted to… he didn’t know, and in the end he didn’t care.

Kenshin’s attention was brought back to Mo-ri when the man began to cough blood, but it quickly became obvious that he was growing delirious fast. The two men had only met once, and while they had parted on friendly terms they most certainly weren’t friends… and even if they had been calling Kenshin a good friend was perhaps the farthest thing from the truth that he had ever heard. When the man finally went limp the albino would deactivate both his chains and his Damage Reduction Shield, causing his body to stop glowing and allowing the now dead form of Mori to drop into the muddy earth below. The mismatched eyes of the albino would stare at the sack of flesh and bone that had once been Mo-ri Jin, memorizing the look of his mutilated corpse lying face down in the mud, his blood staining the dark earth around him a deep shade of crimson. It was such a shame that the man had decided to simply throw his life away like he did, with the strength that the man possessed he would’ve been a useful tool for the albino to have. Alas, it seemed that simply wasn’t to be… but he had many ways of putting the corpse of the man to use

Once he was certain that he had the sight memorized he would allow his eyes to return to their regular shade of silver, before approaching the corpse and recalling a certain bag from his storage displacement. From within the bag he would pull one of his empty Corpse Storage Scrolls and seal away the body of his former acquaintance, after patting his corpse down for any ryo and small items of course. With the corpse sealed away Kenshin would place it with all the others that he kept stored within his macabre bag and began to walk back into his newly claimed village, making sure to pick up the broken remains of the man's staff as he did so.

The story of Mo-ri Jin had reached its conclusion, and much like countless others the mercenary had ended up being little more than another victim of The Ragdoll. The now empty vessel that had once housed his spirit claimed by the very man that had ended his tale, just as many others had before him.
