As Taichi was still in the mental fallout of his encounter with the noble and the robbing of his home, Taichi felt too stressed to take on any more jobs. He felt like a small break would be a good idea for both his physical and mental stress and health. He was continuing down the border that connected the land of wind and the land of rivers. He was enjoying the sounds of the river, the water filling the area with wonderful sounds like the water slamming into the rocks on the sides and the bottom of the river, the different species that inhabited the area making their small chirps and whines as they dipped into the water or nested above it. Taichi felt so at home and at peace by the river. Taichi thought about the different animals that he had seen and wondered what spectacular types of animals that may have lived by these waters. He had often thought about the different species that he had read about in his younger years in the village of Suna prior to its destruction. He always had an infatuation with the different types of animals that filled this world.

Taichi stopped his pondering and began looking around to see what he could find in his location. He continued down the road until he saw an arch with the words “Welcome to Takayama” on the top. He figured that his body and mind could use a rest, so he decided to go into the town. He tried to look as inconspicuous as possible, trying to not arise any issues in the town. Luckily he didn’t carry very much weaponry on his person so he didn’t need to worry about people seeing him as a threat in that way. He walked into the town and he waved at a group of people chatting in front of what looked like a cafe. They waved back and smiled at Taichi, this made Taichi happy. He didn’t get to see very many nice people on his travels, so this was a nice change of pace.

As he was walking through the town he was accosted by a shorter man in what looked like a suit. The man with the suit seemed to be in a hurry so he began speaking very quickly towards Taichi. “Hello sir, I am extremely late to a wedding. I was supposed to deliver this dowry to the wedding venue, but I just got a call from my family. There is an emergency and I need someone else to deliver it for me. Do you think you could do that?” Taichi nodded toward the man, accepting the task given to him. The man told Taichi exactly where to go and Taichi and the man headed toward their destination.

Taichi reached the wedding and noticed that it was a beautiful venue. The aisles were covered in a white lace everything and he was able to see the bride in a matter of seconds. She had her hair almost as tall as she was, she had way too much makeup on and her body seemed as thought it was about to pop out of her dress it was so tight. Taichi smiled at her and walked up with the Dowry. When he handed it to her, she thanked him and gave him the delivery fee. Taichi thanked and congratulated her and they went their own ways.

Laid to Rest

Taichi was walking through the desert of the land of wind after robbing the caravan. Could feel his heart rate still slightly elevated, his breath was still quick, and his legs were shaking ever so slightly. When that child came around the corner, he had hoped that he was going to stay quiet, the last thing he wanted to do was to kill a child. Thankfully, the child was sweet and went back to his bed in the rear wagon. Taichi was headed back to Suna, figuring he had spent enough time away at one time, so he was going to head back into town, but he figured he’d stop for breakfast now that the sun was beginning to rise. As he walked along the sandy road heading deeper into the desert so he could get to Suna, he knew that there was only one more settlement before arriving in Suna. After a little more than two hours of walking, he finally arrived in the small town.

As he walked through the town, he saw a notice board on the side of the entry to the restaurant that announced the death of a local in the area. By the look of the picture, he was a man that was much older. By the way the eulogy read, he wasn’t very well liked. Taichi read about the man named “Eiichi”. It turned out that Eiichi was a very wealthy man who was also very greedy, as many wealthy people were. As the eulogy read, the man would constantly flaunt his wealth and he would buy all matter of things, just to brag about the fact that he owned it and the rest of the people in the town could not afford them. Taichi couldn’t help but to laugh as he read a few examples that were given in the eulogy. Taichi was sure that this man’s funeral would have been hilarious due to the fact that no one liked him.

Taichi continued to read down to the bottom and it actually ended with the request of someone to arrange the man’s funeral. Taichi immediately got up and left the restaurant, he walked over to the place of residence for the old man. There was someone there, a woman that seemed to be almost fifty years old. Taichi figured it was the man’s daughter, staying there to take care of the house for the time being. Taichi walked up to the woman and offered his help. The woman smiled, then cackled. She gave Taichi the five hundred dollars that she was going to put towards the funeral and told him to keep it. They had already burned the man’s body the night before at a bonfire. Taichi cackled with the woman and then Taichi headed out of the town.

As he left the town, he saw the area that they had burned the man’s body at the bonfire. He saw a small sign in front of the fire that read “Here burned the stingiest man alive. Morale of the lesson, sharing is caring. Also, don’t be an asshole.” Taichi continued to laugh as he saw what the woman had said, was indeed true.

Prison Break

Taichi was still finding himself laughing at the way the old stingy man was treated in his death, while he knew death was nothing to laugh about. But the fact that the whole town, including the daughter of the deceased saw it proper to actually burn the old man’s dead body with a sign to shame him directly in front of the still smoldering bonfire? Now that is the definition of comedy to Taichi. Such interesting and sweet irony, to horde all of one’s money and possessions with such arrogance, to only die then having all of those possessions burned into nothingness with you. Seems to be a fitting end to those willingly plagued with greed and arrogance. Taichi left the town with the smoldering grave, coughing due to the disgusting whiff of smoke he had gotten as he walked by the fire pit.

He knew that he had said he was going to go back to Suna, he decided to stay on the borders. Taichi had felt rested by staying in the small town, and he didn’t really want to be in the lawlessness that was Suna. He could get into enough trouble on the borders so he really had little reason to go back to Suna. When he was leaving the small town, he looked down the path that would lead toward Suna. Because he knew what lay in wait in Suna, being the memories of what it used to be and the harsh reality of what it was, he confirmed his decision to stay out of Suna for a while longer. He wanted to get stronger before returning, he wanted to return when he was strong enough to change something about it. He wanted to come back with enough strength to bring back hope of Suna returning to its former glory. So he turned his back to the path to Suna, and he headed back to the land of rivers. Mostly because he wanted to grow even stronger and try to make money. But also because he was already missing the waters of the beautiful rivers that riddled almost the entirety of the lands.

As Taichi started on his way to the edges of the desert, he gradually saw the changing of the terrain. Instead of sand as far as the eye could see, you began seeing shrubs, brush with green leaves. Slowly the sand would turn to dirt and even grass. The plainness of the horizons, being comprised of predominantly dunes of sand with little to break up the horizon, was being replaced with the endless amount of trees and rivers that Taichi appreciated very much. He was able to hear the distant sounds the rivers were producing. He knew he was getting farther and farther from the desert and his excitement grew with every step. It wasn’t that he hated the desert, he just didn’t realize just how much he loved rivers and trees. He figured the desert wasn’t too bad because that is what he grew up with, but since leaving the desert and going into the land of fire and the land of rivers, he was realizing just how much he loved any other type of terrain.

Taichi had finally exited the desert and he embraced the welcoming sounds and smells of the forests and rivers. Taichi smiled as he inhaled the beautiful aromas that were provided by the flowers in the forests, rather than the dry air that was provided by the desert. He couldn’t help but think as to why anyone would willingly live in the deserts when there was true beauty just on the borders of the almost inhospitable deserts. Taichi didn’t hate them, just didn’t quite understand those who chose them over the lush fields that the land of river could provide. Taichi was also quite happy that many people didn’t choose to live in these parts of the world, because there was such a wondrous quietness that was void of people and filled with nature.
Taichi had been walking for a few hours at this point, so he decided to find a tree to lean on and look into the water for a little while. When he was done, he was going to wander the border and see what opportunities he could find to make some more money. While he had been gathering up quite a bit. It was still not enough for what he was wanting. He had been pushing himself this last week to gain as much money as he could, and he was hoping that soon it was going to pay off with the DNA of the Senju clan. He leaned on the tree and thought about what having the legendary wood release would be like and how it would enhance his abilities in not only battle, but maybe even in travel, who knows. Maybe he could learn a technique to allow him to travel faster with the wood release. For all the other legendary things it could do, that wouldn’t exactly be the most unlikely.

The sound of the water hitting the rocks was peaceful enough for Taichi to decide that the tree was a good enough place for him to rest and sleep for the night. Come tomorrow, he was going to hit the road and wander the borders, he couldn’t wait to see just what the future had in store for him the next day, maybe another grand adventure.

As Taichi slept while leaning against the tree next to the water. The moon was beginning its descent and the day was readying itself to begin, sunlight was due in three hours. A loud sound would wake Taichi up. The loud sound resembled that of a man running away from what looked like bounty hunters. Being interested in the chase, Taichi decided to follow the chase and see just what would transpire between the predator and prey in this situation. He packed up his things very quickly and he was on the chase to follow the chase.

Taichi kept a safe distance, so he would not be noticed, and he watched as the man impressively eluded capture several times. The entire time Taichi listened to the man tell his pursuers that he was an innocent man. While Taichi had known his fair share of liars, he knew that most people in this situation would claim their innocence. But Taichi was unsure about this man, he seemed to be telling the truth. The pursuers finally caught the man and they took him back to the closest town. The man’s voice stuck in Taichi’s head, he didn’t feel quite right about the man being apprehended, so he decided to follow them into town and ask around. He wanted to see just what was going on and get some context on the man and his alleged crime.

As he got into the town, he was welcomed with the screams of protestors. They were standing in front of the courtroom. Taichi figured this was most likely related to the man that was being chased inside the forest that he was sleeping in. As he asked around, he was told that the man being chased was being accused of rape, the people in the streets had people in both camps. There were people who believed that he did it. But there were others who believed that he hadn’t. Taichi was curious as to what had actually happened, so he decided to ask around about the trial that must have happened for this case.

He found out that there was no trial done and this man was going to be the next mayor of the town before all of this happened. The thing that was most curious about the whole situation was the fact that the woman that had accused him of rape, was married to the runner up candidate for the mayorship for the town. Taichi wasn’t sure how he felt about this, trial was far too important to just not do due to political reasons. On top of that, the nature of the accusation didn’t seem to be in the most honest light. While he didn’t trust either party, he wanted to make sure that liberty and justice was served. He decided to wait for the gathering to disperse, the accused was taken to the nearest prison to the town, which was just over the hill next to him.

He followed the runner up and his allegedly raped wife around the town for a few miles. He wanted to see what he would be able to find out from their routine. When the couple had gone home, Taichi followed them. He had a plan in his mind that he was going to extract the truth from the couple. If he found out that the man was innocent, he would go into that prison and break the innocent man out.

The couple arrived at their home, and Taichi was close in tow to the both of them. Taichi had heard them speak about many things, but they didn’t once talk about her alleged rape, which was interesting to Taichi. Usually that is something that two spouses would talk about, if anything to try and work through the emotional trauma. He didn’t let that distract him too much. He instead decided to keep listening in and followed them to their house. When they went inside, Taichi needed to find a way in. He was going to use his Sharingan to have the two tell him exactly what had happened and use the mind control aspect of his Sharingan Genjutsu to have them tell the entire town the truth as to what had happened. If they didn’t want to give the man a trial, then this is what they were going to have to deal with.

Taichi saw there was a gable vent that led into their attic, so he decided to quickly run up the wall to the vent and pulled it out. The sound that made was slightly loud, so he quickly leaped into the attic and replaced the vent as to hopefully have no one notice his method of entry. He continued to listen to the couple speak to each other. He knew that if they were hiding any secrets, it would be in the secret of their own home that they would spill those secrets to each other, if that plan failed. There was always his genjutsu.

The more taichi listened to the two speak, the less he was believing the story that the man from earlier had taped this woman. He snuck into the house through the access port to the attic, and silently walked through the house until he reached the kitchen. The couple were in the dining room directly next to the kitchen. Taichi didn’t want them both to panic, so he was going to need to get them both with his Sharingan at the exact same time. He was hoping that if he was able to get them both at the same time, this would reduce or eliminate the screaming. This way his cover would not be blown and there shouldn’t be any interference from the outside.

Taichi crawled through the kitchen, around the island that they had in the middle of the kitchen, and over to the bar which overlooked the dining room table that the couple was eating their meal. He listened for a few more minutes when they began talking about the lack of a trial on the man from the woods. They both spoke about their relief that the man wasn’t getting a trial due to the woman’s ability to tell such a believable story that the other members of the town’s council bought it outright and were so fueled by emotion, that they convicted him on the spot and didn’t allow him to defend himself. Taichi was a criminal, this much he knew. The only thing that he wasn’t, was a liar. Hearing the couple speak these words of such malice and dishonesty annoyed Taichi. Taichi stood up from behind the counter and activated his Sharingan. Both members of the couple gasped when they saw him. Then they immediately went limp. Taichi had changed his mind on his plan. First, he would torture them, then after he saved the man from prison, he would release them from their torture and use the mind control to admit that they had lied about the accusations.

Taichi walked out their front door and headed over to the prison that they had taken the accused to. When he walked through the town, he could hear murmurs about the man and how they thought he was innocent, but the council had overruled almost the entire town in favor of the story that was woven by the woman. Taichi continued to walk through the town, trying to think about how exactly he was going to break into the prison, break the accused out, and not be seen by anyone. He walked by the general store and he decided to go in there for just a moment, he figured that if anyone knew everyone in the town, it would be the one who sold them all of their goods.

He walked into the store and was greeted by the shopkeeper. She was a shorter woman, slender build and a very bright smile. Taichi walked up to the woman and asked her what she knew about the two men and the woman involved in the rape accusations. She leaned over the counter and told Taichi what he had wanted to know. Turned out that the two men have been rivals for almost their entire lives and have always tried to find ways to out achieve the other. The woman, whose name was Yui that was married to the runner-up candidate, whose name was Akira had also dated the man in prison over the accusations, his name was Daichi. Taichi continued to listen as the shopkeeper told him the rest of the story. The accusations that the woman Yui had shared were shared in private behind closed doors. No one in the town that was a council member or the husband was able to hear the accusation. The only thing the rest of the town was told was the man that was accused was going to be sent to prison for the next four to six years. Taichi could not believe what he was hearing and he figured that he was going to need to jump in and help this poor man out. He thanked the woman for telling him the story of Daichi. After what he had heard in Akira’s home, he was sure that he had his wife Yui life for him so he would be able to get the mayorship so he could finally win this battle between the two men. Taichi thought it ridiculous to ruin a man’s life so he could gain a little bit of political power and clout, but he knew that that is just how people were so he decided that he was going to help the man bust out of prison. Taichi and the shopkeeper spoke for a few minutes more before he walked deeper into the shop and find something for him to eat. He searched through the shelves when he heard a woman speaking in the aisle next to him. She was speaking to a friend of hers and they were speaking of the trial and just how sad the story Yui had told the council.

Based on what the shopkeeper had told him, being that no one from the town actually got to hear the story except for the council themselves. So the women that were speaking in the next aisle must be members of the council. He figured they were just as much to blame as the couple who actually shared the lies. So he thought of how he could get them to suffer for their crime of denying Daichi his justice, just as he was the couple who initiated all of the lies and deceit unto the town and its inhabitants. Taichi continued to browse the shelves as he listened to the two women for a few minutes more. When he saw and heard the women begin to head up to the front of the store to pay for their items, Taichi was just a little behind them. He didn’t want them to suspect anything of him.

Taichi paid for his items shortly after the women did, and they all left the store at the same time. When he saw the women go a certain direction. He decided to follow them. The women were still talking about the story the woman told, and Taichi was still listening to the both of them. The women had taken a shortcut behind one of the buildings and Taichi figured this would be the best time. Taichi called out to both women, as if he was about to ask them a question. He told them that he was lost and was trying to find the courthouse. The women both smiled and looked at Taichi, who had just activated his Sharingan. Both women went limp and fell to the floor. Taichi propped them both up onto the wall of the shop and left them there to stew in the torment that was befalling them at that time. Taichi returned back to the couples house for he had realized something. If he broke Daichi out, then Daichi would be a criminal too. But if he was to just have the couple confess their own misdeeds, then that would force the council’s hand to let the man go.

Taichi walked into the couple’s house. They were still sitting in their dining room seats, limp while they went through the mental torture. Taichi released the Genjutsu, and when they both came to they screamed until Taichi had activated his Sharingan again. This time he had controlled their minds and forced them to go outside and tell the entire town of what they had done. After the couple was done yelling it in the streets, Taichi released the genjutsu on them, letting them deal with the angry mob that ensued upon them confessing to their lies. Taichi then walked over to the council women and released the genjutsu on them. When the women came to, they screamed in fear when they saw Taichi. He told them to never deny a man justice again. When they both told Taichi they would through their tears, he also told them to release Daichi out of prison immediately or this time, he would keep them inside his genjutsu forever. The women shook their head. Taichi waited for a little while, waiting to see if they would actually do as they said. When they released the man. Taichi left and headed down the road for his next big adventure.
