The Assault (Mission, Private) Empty The Assault (Mission, Private)

Sun Dec 15, 2019 3:44 am
Mission Details:

Kutari’s latest speech had caused quite the commotion. Kaito himself wasn’t certain how to feel about it, however, if Kutari worked for someone else, then that person themselves must be incredibly powerful. Nevertheless, it had thrown a wrench into the everyday living in Kumo, no less by his disappearing stunt through an abysm, the same way another conqueror had entered into the skies above Kumo, outside its gates. But all that were worries for another day.

Today, the Kage’s Office sent him a special request, an urgent one.

Since his promotion, the office contacted him regarding more and more stuff, and it almost made Kaito regret that he accepted the promotion. On the other hand, it was an opportunity he couldn’t have refused. After all, if anyone should have the chance to impact life in Kumogakure, why should Kaito shy away and let someone else take the spotlight?

The note from the office read something about gathered intel regarding bandit activity in the Kumogakure, and a request for Kaito to clear the facility and rescue a prisoner within. From there, a sting would be organized to capture other ninja or bandits if they existed. It seemed simple enough, and Kaito prepared accordingly.

With his katana and wakizashi by his side, his weapon pouches at the belt, and a long tan cloak a round him that protected him against the elements, Kaito met a small tactical team composed of one medical ninja and an intelligence officer who would provide backup. He was lent a radio for the purpose of the mission, and off they went.

After almost an entire day jumping vast distances to cover the necessary ground to reach the sanitarium. Once there, one could tell it had not been used for decades; it was a rugged structure, but many walls had collapsed, as well as the ceiling of the main hall, and vines crept up the sides of the ruin. Only squatters would live in such a place… especially the thuggish kind.

“Alright, is this the place, Hino?” Hino Keita was the sensory specialist sent in with him, responsible for the intelligence of the operation. “Yes. I will now try and scout the area.” Sitting in  the advantage point they now occupied atop a great tree, the sensor meditated while performing a seal of confrontation. Quietly they stood for about two minutes, and in the meanwhile, Kaito tried to look forwards to the building for any motion or noise, but perhaps due to the distance, no noise could be heard, and the only motion was of the trees, lazing away at the breeze. By his side, Yamaha Shigetoki, medical specialist, sat patiently, respecting his buddy’s need for concentration.

“All right”, exhaled the sensor, “there seems to be no one around us for miles, however, within the complex, I counted four presences, one of which has a remarkable chakra signature. I suppose that’s the kidnap victim, since it’s the furthest away from us.” Kaito heard the man intently. “Ok”, he said nonchalantly. “Keep radio silence unless absolutely necessary. Create a perimeter of 50 meters around you and set up traps, it should buy you some time if you’re ambushed. Keep your backs to each other and look out for your partner if shit hits the fan, and I’ll do my best to rush back if the mission is a bust. If you have any means of cloaking your presence, you should engage those as well. Hino, try and keep your sensory working periodically to sense for any approaching forces, we can’t tell for sure if they could be hostile or not. Yamaha, I might have urgent need for your presence, depending on how this turns out, so keep yourself limber. I’ll see you boys on the other side.”

With that, Kaito leaped off the vantage point and made way towards the abandoned sanitarium.

The Assault (Mission, Private) Empty Re: The Assault (Mission, Private)

Sun Dec 15, 2019 1:59 pm
Pain. A common factor of life, it plagued each and every individual in the Shinobi world, and it didn't play favorites. For some people, it was a constant cycle, looping over and over until it drives them insane. Others seek out different types of pain, seeing it as a sort of gratification at feeling different whenever it happened. To most, it was simply what happened when you held a hot pan without an oven mitt. People tend to feel all of these categories of pain at one point in their life, and many more not even disclosed here, but there was one girl who had not felt anything but the cycle of pain. They had yet to experience life in its fullest, both its terrors and its joys, so even though they were in incredible, excruciating physical pain, it was much better than what she dealt with for eighteen years of her life.

This was the beginning of Aura's story.

The young girl woke up with a jolt, groaning at the foreign stimulus of a throbbing pain at the back of her head. One of the bandits that kidnapped her ended up kicking her really hard, where she laid her delicate hand upon the injury, shivering from self contact. It was familiar, as she had taken beatings before, but they were never this extreme...nor exciting. Yes, despite being cranky at awakening from her unconscious state, with a huge, bruised bump on her skull, she was happy, since this was something she's not used to. This did not negate the absolutely fear and dread she held for herself, though, as in the end, bad men were the cause of this, and they were likely to do much worse to her in time. She didn't really have much of a way out, though, with no skill in any sort of Jutsu, and a body as frail as glass. The rustic smell of damp iron filled her nose, while her feet wiggled onto the ground, indicating a stone-brick base due to the ridges carved into the floor, and the texture of the carefully fashioned rock. Moving forward, her hands grasped desperately in front of her, not being able to rely on her normal way of sensing her surroundings due to her throbbing headache, and it doesn't take long for her to find bars. Yep, she was in a jail cell, what it was meant for unknown. All she knew was that she was trapped again, her happiness fading away to fear and anxiety in a matter of seconds. So now, turning on her heels, knowing there was nothing she could do, she bends down into the corner of her cell, curls her knees up to her chest, and begins to cry, her sobs echoing into the long hallway of the jailhouse, with no one to hear her asides a disgruntled guard a few rooms away, unnerved by her solemn cries.

The main chasm was home to the rest of the thugs, sitting at a table in the middle of ruins of their sanitarium, playing a game of Solitaire with each other. They were incredibly bored, as they were instructed to wait for their fence to make contact and trade them the chakra metal weapons for the eighteen year old girl they captured. From their point of view, she was nothing special, just a pretty-faced brat who, for some reason, was super cold, almost like she was already dead before they knocked her out. In reality, she was a descendant of the Yuki Clan, a fact neither they nor the gal herself knew, yet their buyer knew the value of their genetics. Either way, the thugs were getting money for what was thought to be an extremely easy job...

There was no guessing what was to come next.

The Assault (Mission, Private) Empty Re: The Assault (Mission, Private)

Sun Dec 15, 2019 4:45 pm
Each and every step of the jounin was a calculated one, his weight shifted with precision as he commandeered his feet to rest on the undergrowth and fallen branches about the wilderness without giving away his position. The tan cloak brushed ever so lightly against his flak vest, however, the design of the cloak allowed the two to be worn without either getting in the way of the other. As such, Kaito was able to get close to the stony path that lead to the sanitarium. With dusk coming on, and a cloud cast sky, he could almost feel the rain coming in from the smell alone. The great facade of the sanitarium might’ve been pristine, elegant, and even awe inspiring once. Now, it was only a dilapidated titan, the reminder of the greatness of the past and the unyielding march of time. Stepping away from the shadow of the trees and into the main road, keeping to the side and hopefully out of sight, he analyzed the stony exterior. As the rockface seemed sturdy, Kaito stepped onto it; concentrating chakra on the sole of his feet, he created an attraction force with which to walk on the wall, and slowly he climbed his way to the top of the building, glancing backwards once to make sure he was not being stalked, but also in wonderment of the sight.

Once he climbed the bend into the roof of the sanitarium by carefully crouching against the wall and “diving” off the vertical wall and back into horizontal footing, Kaito noticed with sadness that the roof had collapsed. The structure must have quite a few years, and the redhead knew it was already abandoned when he was a child over thirty years ago. Even still, the state of disrepair didn’t prevent squatters from doing what they did best: squat. And so, he noticed how there were two bandits sitting at a table, playing cards. “Within the complex, I counted four presences, one of which has a remarkable chakra signature.” Four presences: one victim, three perpetrators. These were two out of three, making the former cook’s life all the easier to deal with, since it gave him the element of surprise. However, he also had a minor goal of trying to take at least one of them alive to try and pry information out of them, so an all out assault was out of the question… for now. If the Lord Raikage gave Kaito the chance to prove himself as a Jounin, then too Kaito would give one of these two dirtbags the opportunity to prove themselves as more than a lump of flesh. Kaito drew a Kunai, drew a breath, and as he stepped off the edge to allow himself to fall, he calculated the kunai’s trajectory so that it would stick to the table in between the two thugs. He took the actions in a combined effort, and landed almost quietly on the floor as the kunai’s tip sunk into the table in the middle of the thugs with a thunk.

“Gentlemen”, he called, calmly. “I have been instructed by the Lord Raikage to kill everything in this pile of rocks that represented the slightest threat to my person. I have also been asked to take in at least one prisoner for questioning. That said”, he explained, motioning to the kunai on the table, “I only need one of you, so, please, be my guests to sort this out among yourselves. Make it quick though.”

Of course, a barbaric request such as asking that they betray one another over the implied possibility of having their lives spared might not be enough; honor among thieves and all that. However, underneath the cloak, Kaito’s hands slid into the weapon pouches, his right hand grasping two shuriken and the left one grasping a kunai. In case anything was thrown, he would just intercept any two flying objects with the shuriken, and keep the kunai handy to deflect any other. Should the bandits try to escape to call for help, Kaito would simply let the shuriken and kunai fly, two shuriken into the skull of the thug to his right, one kunai aiming at the neck of the thug at the left, after which he would still have his weapons at his side to deal with projectiles. All that was important was they didn't leave the room alive, nor let information go outside of it. Any motion that was not made towards the kunai Kaito had thrown into the table and then directed towards their comrade would be met with extreme prejudice. If they instead felt the need to bring the fight up close and personal, Kaito would have enormous pleasure in feeling their flesh bruise and their bones crack underneath his knuckles. “So”, he insisted. “I’m waiting.”

The Assault (Mission, Private) Empty Re: The Assault (Mission, Private)

Tue Dec 17, 2019 12:04 am
Life was simple for the Three Musketoons. That's what they called themselves, anyway, the three thugs that captured Aura called themselves. Yes, their life work wasn't exactly the most peaceful - or legal - but it got the bills and debt paid, and it put food on the table for their children. They didn't actually know what to do other than curve around the law, as they failed the Academy too many times as young children, and weren't even accepted in the ranks of the Samurai either. So here they were, having kidnapped an eighteen year old girl that didn't even know what was going on, playing cards in the middle of a set of ruins they had no information about, waiting for some psychopath contractor to show up and pay them for an 'honest' day's of work.

Jeffery was the brains of the operation, and although he wasn't the most intelligent person in the world perse, his cunning and wit got the lot of them out of more trouble than he could count, against people that otherwise would most likely slaughter them. He was the dashing man with a black eye-patch across his left socket, and a dull grey eye on in the right, grey haired stubble peppering his chin and lips, alongside neatly swept grey locks upon the top of his head, not showing much signs of balding just yet. Samuel was the kid right across from him, the 'baby' of the group of bandits as it was, only about twenty years old with that roguish stallion type of build, brandishing his slash scarred chest to the world with brimming confidence, and sporting black, spiky hair with a pretty boy face. He was most likely the dumbest of them all, but he was definitely the muscle, and he got attention from the ladies more often than not. Finally, there was Bucket, the man currently guarding the hallway leading to Aura's cell, but he wasn't near the two playing cards right now, just minding his own business as he listened to the girl cry in her prison.

Everything was fine until a kunai fell from the sky at ludicrous speed, piercing one of Jeffrey's cards currently laid about the table. Their reaction was immediately to jump up, with Samuel drawing his blade, but the older man putting his hand up towards the youngling as Kaito approached them. The both of them stayed silent as the skilled Shinobi explained his intentions and plans, letting him monologue and all of that jazz. At the end of it, Jeffrey had already gotten an idea to get them out of trouble, though dense as Sam was, he nearly drew his steel-headed hatchet at Jeff before he hissed at the boy, making him back down for a moment. In another small moment of silence, the rusty old man turned his iron hard gaze towards Kaito, a soft, passive grin plastered on his weathered face.

""Oi, lad. I can already tell we're outmatched here in terms of...erm...you know, your magic Ninja bullshit. We don't give a rat's ass about you, your Lord, or whatever you were sent here to do, but you at least spoke to us in terms of our lives. So, lets make a wager instead. I don't want to die, and neither do my compatriots. How about we play solitaire together? If one of us wins, we walk away, give up the girl and skedaddle. We don't even know why we have her, anyway, and honestly, I felt bad beating the crap out of er'."

Samuel nodded to affirm his friend's point, and calmed down in front of his mentor's superior route of getting the hell out of here, sitting back down on his chair casually and looking at Kaito with a neutral expression, his bulky arms wrapped around the backside of said chair. Jeffrey just extended his arm towards the Jonin, admittedly shaking a little in his boots, but keeping a straight face as to not scar his own pride, and to keep his friend from being scared. He had no idea this would work, but he had no other plan to get out of this mess alive, so this was the best he had.

The Assault (Mission, Private) Empty Re: The Assault (Mission, Private)

Wed Dec 18, 2019 9:01 am
A sword was drawn as the kunai hit the table, however, the elder of the duo prevented any further action from being taken. A seasoned veteren of a life of crime, if the grey hair and eye patch on his eye were any indication. The eldest of the two tried to negotiate with Kaito, a grin across his face masking the fear in his voice perfectly, with Kaito almost not finding it there, but something about his poise told the redhead he was not comfortable with his current predicament.

The ninja heard the proposal, and would’ve smirked at it and accepted in other circumstances. He was a sucker for a good game of chance, a bet on which one’s life might depend. The redheaded could even forgive their fear and try on betting their lives on the card game; given the situation, he might’ve tried the same, and gamble on both his luck in the game and the opponent’s willingness to fall for the bait. Today though, there was more at stake than Kaito was willing to bet on. Keeping his straight expression, he said only “wrong answer” as he flickered his arms forward and let the kunai and shuriken fly, whistling with deadly intent through the afternoon air.

As he threw his arms up, the cloak parted open, each weapon being loose at a specific time of the arching of his arms. The kunai was thrown at the youngest of the two, the heartbreaker for which many women must have swooned: he aimed it at the neck of the lad, hoping he was not dextreous enough to parry the strike.

His right arm threw the cloak open in the opposite direction, and for a moment, he became as though he were an angel. A merciless angel on a mission of God to deliver a young woman from evil. The shuriken in between his fingers were loosed at different points of the arch; the first one was aimed at the head of the eldest, which the second one was sent in the shadow of its twin, in hopes that should the elder crouch, the second shuriken would still strike true.

Pending the result of his strike, and with the cloak floating back softly Kaito held the scabbard of his katana with his left hand, while his right hand brushed the handle of it, caressing the black waxed wood of the guardless sword in preparation for a quick and finalizing draw.

The Assault (Mission, Private) Empty Re: The Assault (Mission, Private)

The last guard must’ve been confused at any possible noise he heard. Down the hallways in which he stood, noise appeared to travel at a slower pace, sounding more nefarious than it really was, due to the darkness in the tunnel which crept under the skin of the less fortified minds. It appeared simply being a bandit wasn’t enough to harden the man standing guard over the freezing cell door he guarded. The sounds he heard were not common, especially outside of a storm, and the outside was a clear sky as far as he remembered. Not only that, no water streamed through the busted ceiling or cracked walls, not even wind to comfort him with knowledge that he was sheltered from a storm. Instead, the noise he heard made him believe there was a storm within the walls. It wouldn’t be long before his theory was vindicated.

A soft tap could be heard far away. It was a continuous, rhythmic sound, repeating itself and becoming more pronounced over time. Footsteps; and not ones he’d recognize, like Jeff or Sam’s. There was a distinct menace to the steps, something that the man guarding the door couldn’t quite put his finger on, however, as he drew his blade, he believed firmly he would be able to stick his sword through. However, as the steps became ominous and foreboding, reverberating out of every wall and ringing soundly inside his own head, until a figure appeared against the moonlight, its entire figure bathed in shadow as the moonlight offered him only a slight aura from the back, revealing red hair, tan cloak, and two heads.

Two heads.

The horrified faces of his companions dangled from the stranger’s hands, which held onto the hairs of his now deceased partners. The redheaded figure didn’t say much, instead flinging the heads disrespectfully towards the guard, and they tumbled towards him making wet and gruesome sounds. The stranger then spoke.

“Lay down your weapons, and I’ll show you to our prisons. Draw them, and I’ll show you to your friends in the afterlife.”

It wasn’t long until Kaito was out of the compound, holding the body of a frail Yuki in his arms, leaving the two ANBU behind to clean the mess.
