Katsu listened as the man before them spoke, something about the explanation didn’t really make sense. He couldn't imagine someone taking an order to go out and spar and strengthen himself and the others of Kumo, and turning it into a pretend missing nin attack on unsuspecting citizens, it seemed a bit much to believe. But when the red haired man finally finished speaking he let it go. In the end it didn’t matter, and there was something far more important to what he had said.

He felt energy coursing through him, and he needed to let it out, but the girl was speaking now, asking about a possible sensei. It was true enough that they didn’t yet have one, but they were surprised that she had known that. Either way, he couldn’t hold himself back anymore. He jumped out of his chair. “We didn’t kill him!” His mood seemed to have shifted in an instant as he realized that everything was okay. They weren’t being punished, hadn’t done anything wrong, and the guy they hit wasn't going to die. He moved a bit in a terrible facsimile of dancing. “And we aren’t in trouble!” Moments later a leg came out from the back of his own and kicked him in the back of his knee, knocking him back in the chair.

He turned his head to see Masaru glaring at him, but Katsu’s mood could not be squelched. He grabbed his brother’s face with both hands, squishing his face as he did so. “We aren’t murderers! This is great!” the excitement in his voice continued and Masaru had to grow two arms out of his brother to cover his mouth as he turned to address the red haired man. “Sorry about him. He is a little relieved” Muffled sounds could still be heard from Katsu, though whether anyone other then Masaru could really understand them was questionable. “A little relieved. Everything is okay now!”

Masaru continued on as if his brother was actually being silent and not struggling to be heard, which likely resulted in a really strange experience for the other two in the room. “Sorry if it is a little late to be asking, but who are you?” The end of the sentence carried a very slight edge of anger to it. Their emotions had been all over the place in the last few hours and unlike his brother, he wasn’t feeling relief. He was mad. “You have us come in here, you don’t tell us what is happening. You don’t say a damn thing about knowing who attacked us. Yeah, you were nice about it, and it helped, but we don’t even know your name.” His anger flared and he couldn’t help himself, “And you sent him to test us? I don’t know if you are a terrible instructor, or if he is just an idiot, but he could have killed us. Bar any of the other shit he pulled, he threw blades at us out of the mist, completely unprovoked. Had we not been up to the task, we would be dead. And unless I am crazy, I bet he threw them at her too.” He gestured to the girl. “You are lucky your student is in the hospital, because he very easily could have killed three people tonight. So don’t act like you called us in here for us. Were you trying to see if we could identify him? Telling us we need to hold in our emotions, maybe you should be talking to that loose cannon of yours before he kills someone. I am glad he didn’t have his headband on, maybe he shouldn’t have it at all.

Somewhere in the middle of the tirade, Katsu had stopped and was staring at his brother with a look on his face that clearly showed he knew this side of Masaru, and he just had to ride it out. His brother was usually the more in control of the two, but when he had had enough, he had had enough and there wasn’t anything Katsu could do but wait it out. As Masaru finally stopped talking, all the energy seemed to have drained out of him, his arms and head disappearing into Katsu.

“Whooo yeah… “ He made an awkward face, “Sorry about that. Think he just needed to get that energy out, we have been a bit high strung.” He shook his hand slightly as he sarcastically undercut just how much tension the two had been feeling. “But, yeah who are you?”

The lass seemed relieved when hearing the news, but not as much as the twins. Both got up, the lass taking a respectful bow, and the twins exclaiming in ecstasy about how they weren't murderers. It seemed Kaito's little speech about the possibility of them having to commit murder eventually flew over their heads. As Aroma asked about a teacher, Kaito rubbed his chin. As he did, he noticed it was not as smooth as it usually was; he seemed to be slacking in the shaving department. Tiny dots of ruff hair embraced the very tip of his fingers, making the trekking of his jawline rougher than he'd like. He was losing track of himself now too. Even the wrinkles around his mouth and eyes felt more pronounced, as though they had been drawn with a scalpel.

Finally, the words came out. "I will look into this once I can." To be fair, there were few candidates he might consider. A lass who grew up in the countryside, much like Kaito, or a paralyzed lad who he could only hope would be able to get back on his feet soon. “But, you must understand, times are hard. If a teacher is assigned to you, they’ll invite you to a meeting.”

Kaito adjusted himself back into his seat, pushing his hips back into the chair and stretching his back; one at a time, his spine disks popping one at a time, a sensation of relief filling him.

The relief of the twins seemed to simmer down, and in its place, impatience and anger started bubbling up, with a thin layer of imprudence forming at the top. Kaito heard the questions and speech, the accusations and speculation. As the anger flushed out of the twin, either Katsu or Masaru he wasn’t able to say, but the emotion seemed to fill Kaito and compound against the deep waters that ran within the placidity of the lake that was his face. Kaito eyed the youth without allowing his emotions to soak through his expression, keeping it as calm and invitingly warm as it had been before when he believed he could’ve kept this under wraps with a happy blanket. As the anger peaked, Kaito couldn’t help but wonder how fast he could burst his desk into splinters by walking towards the twins straight through it, before catching their necks in either of his hands, lifting them and trying to seperate them faster than their bloodline could, and whether Aroma would be able to react before that.

But as with all things, whatever goes up, it comes down. The twin seemed to finally catch himself, wondering where all his emotion had come from. He lifted a hand at the twins as an acceptance of their apology. “You see, this is why I told you to master your emotions. But, whatever. You have a right to be angry.”

Kaito scratched the corner of his mouth. “See, that would’ve been a better question for the beginning of this conversation. I am Noboru Kaito, Jounin of the Kumogakure. But as far as you knew when you walked in here, I was the guy waiting to cut you and bag you to prevent this whole thing from blowing up. Don’t try and put on me the responsibility for your life. In the Kumogakure, you’re the only one responsible for your life. You didn’t get into trouble because an idiot decided to attack you. You got into trouble because you got out of your house in the morning. And you didn’t get out of trouble because someone else saved you. You got yourselves out of trouble because you put my guy in the hospital. Your life is your own responsibility. That's the way of the Kumogakure. As for my guy, don’t worry. I’ll talk to him today.”

Kaito put his hands on his desk, and slowly but surely got up from his chair, leaning on the desk as he looked at the twins, then at Aroma, as his frame towered in front of the window and casting his shadow into the room. “Now, if you kids will excuse me, I do have some stuff to look into. I may not be a kage, or get paid as one, but I work for one.” He tried to fake a kind smile for the kids, but wasn't’ sure if he could muster a good one. Truth be told, the events of the day were digging into Kaito’s brain. He would have to handle the situation.

He wouldn’t dream again.

At first everything seemed to be going well. The two twins who was once disturbed by the thought of possibly have killed man, was now revealing faces full of relief. To the point that the kunoichi was reminded that they was a great deal younger then her as is. And no doubt of the possibility of them being raised different through their childhood. Everything was going smoothly, and Aroma expected that they all would soon be dismissed. But that was shortly lived. She watched as one of the twins, Masaru if one was to be precise, had a new emotion awakening within him. He still had unanswered questions that left him feeling in the dark, and sometimes people strike when the darkness grows intoxicating.

The lavender woman stood with her neutral, calm composure. As Masaru unleashed the bottled up emotion that had began to overwhelm him. She stood behind the chair that she had earlier been sitting in, taking in the scene that unfolded within the atmosphere of the office. Aroma couldn't help the slight raise of her left eyebrow as Masaru finished his rant. Never having the belief that the little twin could be so outspoken. Her attention then shifted to the man behind the desk, while she rested her hands against the top back of the chair she stood in front of. Truth be told. . . the Viperis was waiting for the moment that this man would respond with some hint of harshness, or perhaps suddenly announce a dire turn of events that would lead to something they wouldn't like. But instead the man surprised her. Announcing his title as Noboru Kaito, and continuing from there with his words.

The way that his composure stayed calm and collected as his parted lips spoke blunt words about responsibility and the fault of putting any blame upon his name, left the woman knowing that his calm imagery did not completely match up. She really didn't enjoy feeling like she might possibly end up in the middle of a simmering war between a unreadable red head who undoubtedly is holding back alot more bark than what he displays, and a twin who was usually the very collected type when it came to emotions and out bursts. The moment the blunt lecture was was finished, the atmosphere in the room seemed to hover with slight tension. She was very welcomed to the next words that Kaito spoke.

The three would be excused from the office of the discussion, and Aroma was far from complaining. She continued holding her neutral grounds and resumed by thanking the jounin for his time and efforts of settling the issue. "I appreciate the time that was taken out of your day to settle these matters," her head would slightly bow with her words. Then making her exit before giving the chance of anything else arising in her presence. "Good day to you, as well as good day to the twins. I appreciate the fact that things didn't go south." Her words finished as the lavender haired kunoichi respectfully made her exit. |Exit|

Katsu heard Kaito address Aroma. It really would be nice to have a team, and while he didn't really know her yet, he felt that they had formed a sort of bond. It could easily be one sided, but when you go through something like this and put your lives on the line, it tends to leave a mark. He hoped they had a chance to work together in the future, and the boys could likely use a teacher. They were growing in skill each day, but whether they were training the correct skills, or actually maturing as shinobi was another matter entirely.

He then had to stop himself from laughing, he knew it wasn’t appropriate, but as Kaito answered their question and told him that he could have been someone there to kill them it nearly made him lose it. Katsu persevered and kept it in, he wasn’t sure how Kaito would react at this point if he saw yet another random outburst of emotions. It was so Katsu to just walk into a room and assume that everything was how it looked. He had entered this room worried that he was on trial, that he could have killed someone, and that he might be jailed or worse. He had never considered that it could be anything other than that. This was something he needed to take to heart.

Finally he nodded as Kaito talked about it being their own responsibility to keep themselves safe. Masaru may have called Kaito out about Ghost, but deep down, the boys knew that keeping each other safe, that was on them. Katsu even more then Masaru as he quiet literally controlled his brother’s life when he was inside of him. They had a support system that nobody else had, that nobody else could even begin to understand. They always had each other. They were never alone.

Katsu stood and bowed slightly to Kaito. “Thank you for your time and clearing things up. Again I do apologize for Masaru’s outburst. It has been a long day and we have much to think on.” He nodded to Aroma as she left, then turned and took a few steps toward the door. Not turning back as he said, “I hope we can meet again under better circumstances.” He then stuck his arm in the air in a little wave before stepping out of the office, it was time to get some sleep. As the twins and Aroma exited his office, Kaito kept his smile up. He didn’t want to give them the idea that they might be in trouble, and as a matter of fact, their little stunt had been entertaining… after the fact, anyway. During, there was always the nagging sensation that they’d have their heads ripped off their shoulders. But at least, Kaito could get that behind him now. He sat back onto his chair, and took another cigarette from his pocket. He tapped it against the desk, so the tobacco inside pressed into the filter. He turned around and faced the window. By all accounts of the story, Ghost was a criminal. Removing the headbang was an offense inside the walls and outside of them; not that it wasn’t extremely useful to pretend a ninja was not associated with a village when you had plans to be evil, but it usually ended up with said ninja effectively becoming a missing ninja.

The list of accusations were now of going rogue, assault, assault with deadly weapons, assault with intent to cause bodily harm, attempted murder. Any of these could land him a lifetime in prison. But, put it all together… Ghost was a loose canon. The way the reports put his actions, it didn’t give Kaito much of a choice in how to act. Moreso when it was one of his own team… he didn’t want people to think there was bias on how judgement was passed just because he was part of his team. At the same time, executing Ghost could cause unease among the citizens of Kumogakure, if they started turning on each other. No one knew that Volt Uchiha had died by his hand other than a select few, so that didn’t seem to bother anyone. Maybe if nobody found out about Ghost’s final fate, he could buy some time for the Kumogakure to heal, and become stronger to learn of the truth?

Kaito got up, adjusting his weapons by his side. The day was still young. He would try to get some sleep, and visit Ghost in the afternoon.

It should fast forward time in a pinch. He’d sleep, but he knew he wouldn’t dream.
