Challenging Fates (Mission, Hunter)
Fri Feb 21, 2020 7:22 am
- Mission:
- Mission Name: Intruder Detection
Rank: D
Type: Investigation
Character Requirements: Genin+
Mission Location: Village borders (Anywhere)
Word Count Requirements: 1,000
Challenges: Hunter
Repeatable? Yes
NPC? Yes; Enemy will be a D rank missing ninja
Reward: 2,000
Task: Our sensory ninjas detected an unknown chakra signature entering the area near village boundaries. It could be anything from an animal that is rarely found in the region or a potential missing ninja. Your task is to go out and survey the surroundings for any signs of potential threats to our village. If you find an enemy you and your team (if you so choose to form one) are to engage and nonlethally neutralize that threat for interrogation unless given no other option. Good luck, shinobi.
'Yet another day of boredom.' Hopping from branch to branch quietly along the trees that surrounded the miles of land around the Leaf village Vergil was once more on a mission. He had actually been assigned to accomplish this mission which was out of the ordinary as he usually was given the choice to accept it. However, due to the disturbing nature behind such a mission, his superiors felt that he was the best suited for the task. His eyes thus scanned the surroundings as he tried to find signs of movement anywhere while staying on the move to make certain any unseen enemies couldn't catch him unawares. 'Hopefully this can be done quickly.' he thought as he stopped and hid in a branch heavily covered in leaves for him to hide in. 'Saori's supposed to have my travel gear all finished up by now. Gotta go try it out.' He would stay there and keep watch of things going on all around him, his left hand gripping his sheathed Yamato as usual, as he kept crouched behind the leaves and quiet in order to not draw attention to his location.

Your Story:
Hungry and tired. Two words that would perfectly describe how Daiki was feeling on this particular morning. He had been lost in the middle of the forests for weeks, trying to find his way to some sort of civilization. He came across a somewhat hidden dirt path a couple hours, days? Some time ago and he just decided that he was going to follow it and prayed that he was going to run into something sooner or later with the hope that they were in fact, friendly.
After a few more days of walking along the dirt path, he saw on the horizon a gate, no, a wall. A mighty wall that looked as if it was trying to keep people out of whatever stood within. "Civilization? A village? A place that has a diner? Sign me up!" Daiki began sprinting towards the walls that were beginning to get closer and closer with every step that he made. The closer he got to the walls, the more of the wilderness was beginning to become more and more picturesque. The endless trees were beginning to spread out to show massive clearings with water features that looked as though they were placed upon the clearings by God himself.
Daiki was sure that he was going to trigger some alerts within the village if he got to close, so he stopped in a clearing about forty meters in diameter and was about one hundred meters off of the main road. He had hoped he was far enough away from the village walls that he wouldn't trigger any alarms, but he wouldn't try to enter the village until the morning, hoping having a fresh mind would allow him to answer the questions that they would inevitably ask him about what his intentions were to enter the village.
He looked around the clearing and noticed how there wasn't anything to be obstacles on the ground, just grass and dirt. He thought just how perfect this place would be to have a good ole fight. He then sat in the direct middle of the clearing, meditating by slowly swinging his sword, continuing to getting used to the handle of his sword, reveling in the fact that gripping his sword was now a second nature.
Just before he finished his meditation with his sword, he activated his Dracosight and he scanned his surroundings, ensuring that he was not about to be ambushed before calling it a day and found himself a river to relax by for the remainder of the day. If he found someone in his area, then he would deal with the intruder. If he found no one, then he would begin leaving the clearing.

Vergil had been sitting in the branch in question, having taken two Shuriken out of his pouch to examine in order to pass the time, as suddenly he heard a noise. What sounded like running. Vergil got his guard back up, Shuriken ready, as he saw a person rush out of the forest quickly and stop in the clearing which he actually just so happened to be hovering over. He watched as this guy looked around the area for a bit as Vergil examined him from the side of the clearing just 10 meters away. He carried a sword which told Vergil he was most likely versed with weapons though his katana looked weak in comparison to his own. An advantage for Vergil in case this turned ugly. Other than that he couldn't feel any chakra flowing from this guy at all which only confirmed to Vergil this guy was probably strictly a close range fighter. A disadvantage in case he knew something that could take Vergil by surprise.
Vergil would soon see the ninja just take himself a seat in the middle of the clearing and examine his sword. Vergil couldn't tell if this guy was a carefree fool or setting himself up to be bait. Either way Vergil wasn't going to miss an opportunity. 'This should be... interesting.' he thought as he got low behind his leaves and prepared his shuriken. His left kept a tight grip over his sheathed sword as, with his free hand, he tossed the two shuriken he was holding in an arch. The shuriken would zoom around the edge of the circular clearing, the sharp steel of the shuriken shining in the sunlight as they would reach about ten meters from Vergil's throwing position, before the two shuriken clashed and bounced off each other causing one to zoom straight at his target directly towards one of his knees while the other flew and hit a faraway tree trunk. If it hit the Shuriken would get itself stuck in the bone of the ninja's knee.
In the meantime Vergil would quickly move from his location by hopping down from the branch of the tree to the ground directly below him, landing quietly on his feet, as he kept watch of the ninja to see what he'd do.

Daiki already knew the man was there, simply stalking him. With his Dracosight he could see him preparing to throw the shuriken based on his posture up on the tree branch not too far away, only 15 meters. “Who would try to kill someone that was just traveling through the forests? Obviously this guy’s a dick.” Daiki wasn’t going to wait for the ninja to make his first move, he jumped to his feet and threw a kunai of his own, with an explosive rag attached directly at the ninja on the tree branch. He would close the gap with sword in hand, unsure the qualities of this dickhead, but even if he was to die he hoped he could at least cut this dick’s throat before leaving this world.
Turned out the bastard had the same idea on the throwing stars for he threw two of his own, Daiki was prepared for this and moved to the right, feeling the air as they passed by him. Should the explosive tag get within 2 meters of the guy in the trees, it would detonate and hopefully it would kill the dick in the trees, if not blow him out of the tree unable to move, so Daiki could perform the final blow himself. Should the dick in the trees leap out of the trees, he would throw another kunai and a shuriken, with the target being vital parts of the body like the heart and lungs or the throat.

The man somehow already seemed to know where Vergil was as he was getting to his feet soon as he looked in Vergil's direction. Vergil's eyes immediately shifted to a crimson color as he watched the target ready a kunai with an explosive tag. Before the kunai even left his target's hand he would let loose a shuriken that travelled directly towards the guy's stomach. He watched as the guy tossed his kunai towards Vergil's location and Vergil's Sharingan could see no chakra anywhere around it. 'Fool.' he thought while directing his chakra into his shuriken he would toss it in a way where it missed the kunai itself completely but cut the paper with one of it's sharp edges causing it to explode and take the kunai with it before it all could get within five meters of Vergil, continuing it's trajectory afterwards, as Vergil watched the ninja.
If the ninja came to slash at Vergil he'd be ready with his Yamato drawn from it's sheath in order to catch the ninja's blade with his own. If he threw any more weapons Vergil would reflect them completely from his still perched form atop the branch with his sword.

Before he was even able to throw the kunai with the explosive tag attached, he saw the opponent ready his arm to throw another shuriken directly for him. He lunged backwards and didn't bother throwing the kunai yet, he would save that for later. He watched the shuriken strike the dirt directly in front of his feet. Daiki had his weapon at the ready, but he decided to wait on the dirt and distance himself to the other end of the clearing. He was sure that this guy in the trees had the advantage with him being up there and Daiki having no clear way of handling him from afar.
He had the explosive tags, he may be able to use that, but it would have no surprise now that he had seen it. So he had it secured in his weapon pouch on his right hip, ready to go whenever he needed it. He was unsure about his next move, so he figured the best move he had, would be wait for this guy to come out of the trees and face him head to head. He would stand there in a defensive stance, ready for another projectile to come at him. If he wanted a fight, he could come and get one. Blade to blade.

Vergil had been expecting the ninja, what with senses good enough to sense him even in leaves, to have the sense to jump out of the way of his Shuriken. That told him this would not be such an easy battle for him to win as he looked over to the ninja standing at the far end of the clearing looking up to him. Vergil's crimson eyes rotated slightly as he focused his chakra into them, looking at the eyes of his opponent, as he could see slits in the place of where pupils were supposed to be. 'Another one? Of all the clans to run into for a target...' he thought as he could see the ninja take a defensive stance with their sword. This seemed to be a sign that the ninja was wanting to fight Vergil as he shrugged and hopped down from his branch as he lightly landed on his feet, his sword's sheath gripped at the ready as always, while walking into the clearing about five meters from where he had landed. He kept watch of the ninja's every movement with his Sharingan to make certain he wouldn't be caught unawares as he began to speak.
"My name is Vergil and I'm a shinobi of the Hidden Leaf village. My superiors detected your presence in the borders and ordered me to capture you alive. You have the choice, therefore, to either come with me quietly..." The thumb of his left hand pressed against the hilt of his Yamato, causing a tiny bit to unsheath and reveal the shimmering steel underneath, as Vergil stood there facing his opponent with a steely look. "Or screaming in agony." He would wait for a response from the shinobi, a look of calm readiness in his face, as the breeze blew through the clearing causing his coat tails to flutter and the ribbon tied around his sheath to overlap and tangle.

Daiki had his sword at the ready, but with the calm demeanor that the ninja had while he walked up to his position, he decided that he would show a sign of good faith by sheathing his sword, but keeping his hand crossed over his torso holding onto the hilt of the blade. He wanted to have a sign of aggression held up, just in case the tree dweller thought he was giving up. The tree dweller walked up to Daiki, only being one meter away when began to speak. He spoke his name, but would not be able to finish speaking his name.
As the tree dweller started saying his name, Daiki would perform the Quickdraw with the aim of the hand holding onto the sword. If he was able to get the arm, he would continue the draw to slice open his stomach. Should the attack connect, the tree dweller would pour out his guts onto the grass beneath them. Even if the tree dweller would try to unsheathe the sword, his hand would be sliced clean off and Daiki would still continue to slice open the tree dweller's stomach. Leaving him vulnerable to die no matter what he tried to do to heal up his wounds. If the hand was missed, then he would still cut through the stomach of the tree dweller, wanting to kill him before he could do anything about it.
If the tree dweller's innards would pour out onto the ground, then Daiki would add to the combination by slicing downwards into the tree dweller's shoulder, cutting his arm completely off so he would not be able to fight with his sword with either hand.

Vergil had been walking towards the ninja as he watched them slowly bring their sword around towards their sheath. This was a sign of either one of two things to Vergil: either the ninja was surrendering... or getting ready to strike. He knew plenty of techniques that allowed a skilled swordsman to draw blades quicker and stronger than normal so, in preparation, Vergil went ahead and placed the back of his thumb and took in a deep breath before he ever began to speak. He watched as the ninja managed to sheathe the blade once Vergil got within two meters, their hand never leaving the neck of their blade's hilt, which was indeed a sign for concern as the ninja had an aggressive look in his eyes.
This was definitely a sign for the quick draw technique, something that was a part of Vergil's own arsenal, as he decided words would be wasted and thus never spoke. Instead, upon getting within a meter of his target, his left thumb would shoot up and cause the Yamato to rapidly fly out of it's sheath as the hilt soared towards the forehead of his target. If his hilt managed to hit it's mark the ninja's skull would shatter and cause his brain to hemorrhage thus knocking him unconscious. If his opponent managed to draw his blade at any time during this Vergil would block it with his scabbard, chakra flowing through it to give the polished wood a more sturdy foundation, as at best a crack would form where the blade had hit but not slice through keeping Vergil safe.

The tree dweller walked towards Daiki's position, extremely slowly. So Daiki had two options, his first plan was the quick draw, but to open the window for that attack to work, he had one option prior. The tree dweller was still two meters away, this was when Daiki had just finished sheathing his sword to ready himself the quick draw attack. Just before the neck of the sword would touch the sheathe, he would use his right hand that was inside his weapon pouch, to throw a kunai already fixed with an exploding tag directly at the Tree dweller. Even if the paper bomb was close to Daiki himself, he was going to take this tree dweller off of this planet.
The whole time he would avoid eye contact and simply stare at the target's neck. In the same motion with the throw, Daiki would leap backwards three meters. The tag would explode immediately after the throw, blowing up 2 meters in all directions. Including the tree-dweller within the destruction.

The throw will happen prior to Vergil performing Body is a weapon due to Vergil stating he performed his moves after Daiki sheathed his weapon completely and also had a breath in before he performed his attack.
