Missions like these were probably the best thing for Asuka outside of general medical work. Simple things like cleaning and tending to gardens, no fighting involved. Things that enabled him to sate his desire to help people, without having to hurt anybody else in the process. To others, this would be considered a menial chore. To him, it was a way of helping for those who didn’t like to fight. These types of missions were everything Asuka really needed. He didn’t need to go on any big, high-ranking missions. He wasn’t strong enough to protect people like that anyways.
Maybe in the future he would, but right now missions like these were his priority. Tending to the grove was a wonderful mission, in his opinion, and he’d quickly found his own little corner of the oasis to focus on. On the very edge of the lush forest, this little spot had suffered some damage, most likely from a genin training. There were broken branches everywhere, and one of the trees had scores in it from what Asuka assumed had been a surface-walking technique training session. Really, people couldn’t even clean up their own training messes these days.
Luckily, this would be an easy fix even if he couldn’t restore the branches to the trees. After moments of deliberation, he set to work, finding all of the fallen branches to pull into a big pile. If he could gather them all up they could be used for firewood or something, since they were all too dry and dead for any other uses. Some of them were big enough that Asuka questioned how on earth they’d been broken down. Some were small, possibly knocked down by poor coordination on the part of whoever had been training here. All of them, he needed to move.
And move him he did, carrying them and dragging them into one large pile. There was no way to make it particularly neat, but he tried to ensure the pile would take up as little area as possible. It was a massive pile, the amount of broken branches that had been knocked down by training quite honestly staggering. There was some garbage too, likely dropped by civilian passerby. The garbage he put into the trash bag he’d taken with him, not quite filling it. Luckily, there wasn’t that much litter among the trees.
It was long, hard, and quite frankly sweaty work. The sun was out in full force today, and the harsh sunlight that managed to filter through the branches was enough to have him wishing for a cold drink. He wouldn’t take any breaks, though, he still had a job to do here. The garbage all tidied, he set the bag down. He could take that to any garbage bin later, it was easy enough to get rid of. But what would he do with the branches? Pondering, he observed the stack, nearly as tall as he was. It was quite large, and there was a lot of them. Maybe he could just have them cut or broken into smaller sizes and transport them to another bin as well. He couldn’t see many uses for them outside of firewood, and he had no idea who’d even need firewood in the desert. Yeah, he should probably just take them all to a bin and dump them. Sighing, he prepared for the equally sweaty work of moving everything out of the grove itself.
