Shoko puzzles over the description, picturing what a very old snake would look like. Liver spots and a moustache...? She nods seriously, ready now to be judged by an elderly snake who reads contracts. Though animal companions are often glimpsed, she has never been so privy to the details, and it's all a little fantastical. Her nerves begun to turn a little excited, and she hopes that she doesn't say anything embarrassing.

She gets up and follows Travin, watching curiously as he summons the contract holder. He is everything she expected. Shoko is kind of... delighted? These feelings, and the fact that he is such a storybook character, make her feel embarrassingly like a little kid.

"Good morning," she says to him, bowing respectfully.

Three in one year? Who were the other two?

Travin looked down at the old snake and then up to Shoko, as the snake turned around to look at her. Shoko greeting the snake with a good morning got a smile out of him. “Well, it would seem that Travin has gotten 3 for 3 from the first impression. Most just want more power and very few are willing to be polite to get it” the snake would tell Shoko as he removed the scroll from his case. By pressing the button next to his head with his tongue. “If you sign this scroll we will support you as long as you support us. We shall teach you how to be ruthless in combat and take what you want and need. We will also teach you the value of family and not just with your clan but with those that have also signed the contract. Even if you don’t agree with your family you must at the very least not get in the way” the snake would tell Shoko with its raspy voice.

Travin would watch Shoko see if this was something that she could get behind. While it was true most that signed the contract started out much more ruff or ready for the training. Travin had known that not all were like that and for some being trained in how to be more assertive and commanding can do a lot for them not only as shinobi but as people as well. He also knew that some people just didn’t have it in them and would shy away from the challenge. He wanted to find out just what kind of a person Shoko would be.

Shoko's mouth tightens at the suggestion of being taught the value of family. It brings forth an anxiety she cannot place, let alone voice, so there is no chance it will stop her. Being ruthless in combat, taking what she wants and needs? She can certainly get behind that. Shoko nods to the elder snake, eyes serious and determined.

"I understand," she says. Her gaze follows that scroll, imagining the great list of names that must have graced it over the generations. There are figures of legend who have used snakes in battle - would she find the name of Orochimaru, if she pored over it long enough? How long has the snake she speaks to been around...? The thought makes her shiver a little bit, but she dismisses her concerns. There's no need to worry about storybook villains. "What do I have to do?"

The contract-holding snake would simply look up at Shoko “prick your finger and sign your name in blood at the bottom” he would then turn around and let the scroll roll down its back stopping at Shoko’s feet with an empty slot for her to sign. Almost as if it was by some kind of ninja magic. Travin would watch as he walked around to be close enough to answer questions or point something out for Shoko. He was able to see his own name followed by a few that he had not met, as well as Nasu and Mitsu as well both of them directly above where Shoko would sign. If she looked into it she would be able to see countless names rolling all the way up to the roll of the scroll and appearing to keep going.

Shoko looks over the signatures, chewing on the inside corner of her mouth. It would be embarrassing to smear blood all over this ancient scroll like she's finger-painting...

"One moment," she says, reaching to her weapons pouches, hoping that she hadn't taken it out last night. She removes a kunai, and then a small journal, with - yes! Her small calligraphy brush is still here. She'd brought it with her yesterday to get some practice in during the boring leg of a mission.

Carefully, she nicks the back of her hand with her kunai, watching the blood well up. Then she dips her brush in, waits a moment for a little more to well up, and again... then slowly, carefully, she begins to neatly, artfully sign her name on the scroll. After a few moments, she is finished, bringing the brush up to her mouth absentmindedly so it doesn't get all gross with dried blood. "There."

Travin watched as Shoko dug through her bag and came up with a calligraphy brush. Taking a moment Travin thought that she was really taking this name signing thing a little too far. Everyone else mostly just used their finger and that one guy that used a stick. Either way, he wasn’t going to say anything and would just stand and watch. Once she had signed the scroll it would roll up back onto the snake. “Good luck young summoner” he would tell Shoko before turning to Travin “Travin her right with the use of us” he would add before vanishing in a puff of white smoke.

Travin would turn to Shoko “So now that that’s over with you want to learn a few of the basic jutsu” he would ask.

Shoko bids the elderly snake farewell with another bow, and then turns to Travin, eyes gleaming with restrained excitement. She's... a summoner now! Wow! After that conversation, her trepidation seems a little silly. She reminds herself that not all of the snakes may be so charming, but that threat seems far away to her now with how things have been going so far.

"Yes please," she says quickly. "What kind of other jutsu are there? I always thought summons just meant having an animal to help you out." She doesn't mind showing a bit of her inexperience - she's with a teacher, after all. She's genuinely curious, picturing what kind of techniques he could mean. Shooting poison from her teeth? Defensive scales? Growing a tail!?

Now that the contract holding snake was gone it was back to just the two of them once more. “The snakes can be used to create all kinds of jutsu within the summoning contract” he would explain as he took a moment to try and figure out a way to explain it better before deciding to just show her. Looking around Travin saw a bottle laying over by where they had been sitting down. Pointing out the bottle “you see that bottle over there” he would tell her. Once she gave him the affirmative Travin would make a few handseals and a brown snake with white stripes would fly out of his sleeve and wrap around the bottle bringing it over for Shoko to grab.

“That is called the Hidden Shadow Snake Hands it’s quite useful in the right situations. Once you get the hang of it ill show you another one before you leave for the day. After we can meet up another day and I might show you more” he told Shoko. His tone signaling that he wasn’t trying to run her off or anything. Travin would toss the bottle back out into the field to be a target for Shoko to try and get with her snakes. He would stand nearby but not hover, and answer any question she may have about how to perform the jutsu.
