Team Winter Does What?!

The powers that be? There was a laugh from Morio as he dusted some of the falling snow off of his clothing," Well the powers that be need a better place of locale than wet, snowy and cold. These higher beings always have an uninteresting sense of humor yeah," not a slight against the Gods but it was a statement that he continually found to be true in most cases. None the less he would listen to Yamato's plan and nod as he didn't necessarily disagree with the action plan," Sounds good to me.The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can be back in front of a roaring fire...I miss my fire," the boy sounded more and more like a dragon each day that he stayed in this waking world which had began to worry him...or excite him. Either or. Walking toward the back with Hotaru he would take a stance to the right of the back door, presumably allowing his partner to take helm on the left. As he stood there, he took in a deep breath as he activated his Kenseigan before staring out into the distance," So what do you think brought us here? I mean this is a bad joke, but protecting cookies? You'd think they would have their own security right?," ninjas on cookie duty....now he had seen it all. Of course this could be a prelude to something more sinister and if that was the case then he would do his upmost to protect this place even if it dumped him in the cold.

The team seemed to agree with the move and it was not long until all four of the Genin took their positions as per instruction.  Typhon seemed to be well suited to this type of mission and even seemed a bit playful.  Toran was talkative at first, and even suggested that he use a clone to go scout, to which Yamato nodded in agreement.  Hotaru and Morio were of course in agreement with the plan with no concerns, but they did not think this was a fruitful endeavor, but more of a trivial pursuit of security by someone…inept.  Yamato did not have any more words on the subject as he just kept an eye out.  He hoped to be done with this mission soon as well, seeing as he still had more training to do to continue to climb in power.  “Do either of you two know the likelihood of dying while out on a mission?”  He asked them in a manner that was very macabre to the current scene around them.  He was…definitely odd for doing so.

The plan was set in place. Hotaru, Morio, Ty and Toran all had their tasks. Their positions to play. This was technically their very first mission as a unit and Hotaru would be remiss if she did not admit to see how they would fair in all honesty. 

As she followed her partner to the back she would take helm at the left of the door as he took up the right. She would also take a breather as her Meigan would activate a fraction of a second after his Kenseigan, scanning the distance. His words would meet with her ears. “If I can be honest with you, Morio…I do not have an answer to what, or whom brought us here. But they seem powerful. Powerful enough to summon up without leaving any residual chakra for any of us to trace or lock on to. Protecting cookies does sound like a child’s game and I cannot help but to ponder on the age and maturity of this being. I’m not fond of the idea of being a pawn for a twisted war that does not benefit our village negatively or positively in any way.” He would say with a pause. 

Though, she could not shake the eerie feeling that something was amiss. The Yuumei within her was getting excited and it seemed to know more than what she could make out. “But I will tell you this…my Yuumei is riled up. And that means there is something dark and powerful involved.” She would take a moment to glance over to him. Her expression was not of its norm, she looked…worried. 

Whenever her Yuumei was acknowledged by her, something was dreadfully off.

(Starting Protect the Workshop)

All the team's standing in the cold seemed to be for nothing. Nobody came to attack the bakery and the whole duration of the job went by without anything of consequence happening. This made the person who hired the team, a mysterious person only identified as Yoi, very happy apparently as a snowy owl holding a parcel flew in and gave its delivery to the squad leader Yamato. The team would be asked to partake in another guard mission. This time guarding a workshop of toy makers while they held an end of year office party. Again with the odd decision to hire shinobi. Especially after a completely uneventful night.

The only explanation Typhon could imagine was that any would be attackers noticed the guard around the bakery and held off. Or the more likely conclusion would be that people aren't out to rob cookie stores during the holiday.

As the group went to leave for their next consecutive mission a voice would call out from inside the bakery. An old woman had opened the door and was standing there with a tray of steaming cookies. "Thank you all so much for standing out in the cold for us. Why don't you all have a cookie as my way of saying thanks."

It was a nice gesture and definitely made Ty smile a bit. It was nice getting a bit of appreciation after a job well done. He would help himself to one of the treats and take a few steps away to remove his mask and enjoy the cookie.

Once outside the warehouse they were to guard Typhon would once again wait for orders on where to wait and watch. This building was much larger than the little bakery and so would definitely require more strategic thinking to watch over properly. A job best left to the squad leader.

"Anyone with that kind of power but this kind of mentality says a lot about the character of the person. Hopefully we don't meet them because I definitely will be asking what the hell is going on...or i might get to the point where I don't care and just finish up with this so we can go back to our nights," she spoke of something that he had not heard before which caused the red eyed male to look over to her quizzically before continuing," Yuumei? What exactly is that? I don't think i've heard you speak of it before, but if its a secret then its all good none the less," not like he would openly tell people about Cassian, an enigma he still knew very little about. Whether or not they were answered he would let out a small breath which turned into a billow of mist. It seemed like their guard duty was done but now they had to go to some warehouse. Upon leaving from their first destination the four were stopped by an elderly lady who only wanted to provide them with cookies. Morio was a little skeptical of this but took one none the less before nodding to her and walking off. There was a proverb about humbling your elders and if you didn't misfortune would follow you...and he already had enough of that. Together with his team he would walk toward the warehouse where he would look for a sign of Yamato but no signs were found,"...Looks like his deeds were done. Which puts you in charge Hotaru. How are we going to protect this place?," he'd ask the Shinkou as he awaited the game plan.

Mission Details:

Toran went unacknowledged as it seemed would be a much running pattern. His coat was not even mentioned by Morio as he now sat with Typhon. Seemingly not really knowing what they would be doing for the rest of the time until it was apparently enough time to simply guard the bakery. However Yamato's question gave him some food for thought. The likelihood of death was something that he had thought about beforehand. His father is a grave reminder of the costs of battle. However his answer to Yamato would be a bit out of the ordinary.

"The likelihood of dying entirely depends on who's out on the mission. You're not gonna send a couple of Genin out on an A-rank mission unless you know their capabilities. Even then, most of our group's chances of dying are higher than average. Two of us have a unique Dojutsu. And one of us is the apparent relative of a council member. If you want an actual answer then there is always a slim chance of dying to anything. But with the right shinobi their deaths are never because of some random chance."

He gave a small actual warm smile at the end of his little speech. Although it was followed by a joke soon afterwards regarding it.

"How was my speech about the shinobi world sensei? I kinda just winged it at the end of it. It's something Dad kept on saying to me before becoming a Genin myself!" He said with a bright smile plastered on his face. Wondering if he did a good job in regards to actually giving a good explanation.

The sweet old lady giving them cookies was something of great surprise. Making him smile as he wal;ked over and grabbed a few cookies, Toran having a wide grin as he walked back. However he did not eat them and simply went to save them into his pocket.

She found herself at a pause. She didn’t mean to let that part slip. Which meant that she found herself speaking freely around Morio. He was quite mature for his age, and he was most comforting out of the others to speak with if she was being honest. Her crimson gaze met with his. “No, I trust you, Morio.” She voiced, lowly enough for him and only him to hear. “As you might have already known, I wasn’t born into the Shinkou clan, I was adopted into it. Originally I was born a Pendragon, though the blood of the Uchiha run through my veins as well. Seto was my mentor before I was set out to do the outpost protection at the outskirts of our village for those many years. It was Seto that saw my potential and converted me into the Shinkou clan. The Yuumei changes the person that in comes into contact with. Basically making them it’s home. It shapes the mind and improves the body in ways that I’m still discovering. It is a fact of life to all Shinkou clan members. Each supporting the other in a symbiotic relationship. I provide sustenance for the Yuumei and it proves me with power. I guess you can think of it as a possession. The more that I think about it, the more I feel small. I’ve come to learn that the Yuumei is not many, but one. Each member is bestowed a sliver of its absolute power…anymore would be too overwhelming. Ah, I beg for your pardon, I was rambling. That’s not at all like me.” Her eyes would shift from him to the distance before her. 

Their duty as guards were done, so it seemed. A elder woman offered them cookies, Hotaru shook her head, declining the offer. She was never one for sweets. Perhaps because her teeth were sensitive to them. 

With Yamato out of the group it would seem that Morio saw it fitting that Hotaru was the one to lead the team. She would give him a silent gaze for a moment. Realizing that this was his way of offering her his acknowledgment of her. She was taken back by this, but still grateful for it. She would then turn to the team. “Right! We were summoned to protect these workers, and we will by any means. Though we are not expendable, none of you are. So we will play this smart. Morio and I will guard the front of the building. This way we will be the first line of defense should things go sour. Toran and Ty will be the last line of defense on the inside. In fact, Toran, do you think you can have your shadow clones transform into other people and an object, such as a bush? If so I would like for you to have one stationed near the back and the side. Have them disperse the moment they see something so that you are immediately informed and relay that info to Ty and he will notify Morio and I. I’m placing you and Ty inside because of your ability to be in more than one place at once and his ability to heal should something happen to you or the workers. The medic is the last to enter the fray. That worked at my outpost and saved lives. I expect the same results here. Let’s move out.” She would give the order and watched for them to make their moves.

Morio leaned against the wall and listened to what was probably the first time he had ever heard Hotaru speak in abundance. If it was a sense of trust in the young Ametsuchi heir then he would understand that because this...was a lot to process. The more she had spoken about the entity...well yes entity known as Yuumei the more he understood. It was almost as similar to his experiences with Cassian though as far as he knew he was always stuck with the specter...he just couldn't see it until he had activated his Kenseigan.," I've heard things about the Pendragons...Where people in this village see the Hoshimura as scum and traitors, the Pendragon were the heroes and holders of justice. Born of dragons I think I heard one person say before. Though your situation with your...Yuumei I think you called it reminds me of a similar situation I am having with a certain...entity of my own. I haven't personally asked either of my extended relatives about it because i'm pretty sure its something to do with my father's side of the family, but...," he stopped for a moment looking down to his hands before he chuckled," Yeah. Its name is Cassian. I only noticed his...its? Presence after I activated my Kenseigan for the first time I heard its voice. A few days after that I started seeing it as wisps and now it appears as just an annoying floating eye ball of darkness. Annoying little prick it is but I can't help but feel as if its drawing me to something...a power that my father failed to harness," he looked up realizing that he had probably said something he shouldn't have because he could see Cassian in the corner of his eye looking at him...menancingly.

Giving out a small chuckle he would push off of the wall to head back to the others," Was nice to hear you speak more than a few sentences, it was nice to have a full conversation with you," and with that he would begin to head off. When they all met up he would listen to what Hotaru would instruct and honestly he was impressed. It was only a few moons since they were brought together but they were working as a well-functioning machine. He agreed with her plan and once the others had agreed to it, he would move to the front of the workshop taking his place at the right hand side of the door and looking outward for any signs of trouble," Though I must admit its kind ironic how we're both stuck with something we know absolutely nothing about...but it can make or break us. Only time will tell for both of us which door we will open with these," his eyes slowly trailing to the right as he locked eyes with the single eye of Cassian. He wasn't vocal but he could hear the thoughts of the floating eye. Loose lips sink ships, but this was something Morio was afraid of... He was going to find out what Cassian was hiding and when the time came he would make his decision then.

With Yamato having to head off the remainder of team winter was left to finish their jobs in this odd snowy town. Without their leader someone needed to take command and that duty fell to Hotaru. A good choice all things considered. She was the oldest member of the team and she certainly maintained a calm head. Ty would nod and agree to the plan. It was once again a simple yet sound formation.

As a walking cluster of disease Ty was a little surprised at finding himself in the role of medic, but it was oddly fitting on this team. Morio and Hotaru had most of the teams firepower and Toran as an uchiha was much more suited for combat than Typhon. The canopic clan was specialized for assassinations and mass destruction. Two widely different ends of the spectrum and both not very useful in a team environment. As he thought about it, it made mpre and more sense. He made a mental note to work on his medical skills more and maybe even look into some way to stay useful from the back line.

He would move to the rear of the warehouse with a good view of the party itself. He'd plop down in what appeared to be a small hand made rocking chair. The workers seemed to be enjoying themselves at this celebration. A needed night off apparently. According to the job this factory made toys that get exported somehow all throughout the world. It made him wonder if any of his childhood toys had come from this shop. If they really did make the world's toys then this would actually be a place worth defending. These employees assemble the little things that make a child's early years more memorable.

Not too much was happening other than dancing and drinking so Ty found himself watching Toran create and order clones around. It was an incredibly useful technique for this kind of mission and the ability to hide them as objects made it even better.

"That's a great help honestly. You're able to keep this whole place locked down. It's like you're doing the job of multiple people at once." Ty would say to Toran, complimenting the young Uchiha for his work.
