And so Asahi did the thing that he did so well, train. This moment to moment skill acquisition between the two sword users was intriguing, or at least he assumed it was. For someone like Hanzo who had chosen to abandon the way of the blade, he didn't feel all that interested in learning the temple style of fighting. Whatever it was that such a thing entailed. The only thing that he saw was the one thing that he feared. This place was going to become a far more lax version of the Land of Iron. Though he had never been there and he knew that Asahi claimed heritage from there, he had his own run-ins with samurai in the past. They were rather powerful individuals so his band usually kept their distance from them. But he didn't want to become a student of the blade. This village changed him in a manner that he couldn't prepare for. He was becoming a pillar of strength. That seemed to be where his focus and intention lied. He needed to develop a fighting style that catered to his brawn. He'd leave gracefulness to these two.
He turned his attention to his book, though did look up from time to time to see the technique in action. His book, the Jutsu Encyclopedia, which went over a wide variety of jutsu, maneuvers and techniques that were associated with shinobi doctrine, up to a rudimentary point. It was a fascinating read, at least to Hanzo. He often kept himself sane as a slave by reading whatever books he could steal when serving beer and food to his former bandit captors. Using their drunken states in order to sneak various things into his cell. Including the knife that he ultimately used to kill one of the bandits, earning their favor. Still, he had a soft spot for reading, even though he was rather muscular. He wasn't exactly the smartest ninja in the world, far from it really, but he wasn't a big dumb idiot. Just like all people he excelled at different things. Those things being physical things mostly and the application of those various things. It was why people didn't traditionally go out of their way to fight him. But he was not unbeatable, no-one in this world was.
In this moment he was looking up a section that touched on the idea of amplifying the effectiveness of Taijutsu maneuvers, acting as a sort of amplifier. It required many different versions of hand-signs depending on the complexity of the motion, which was strange to him since he didn't comprehend how a physical fighting style would require the use of hand signs. Though he did remember that hand signs in and of themselves helped aid chakra through the body. So after thinking on it a moment, he realized that it did in fact make sense in this aspect. Especially if one was looking to either increase the force of their technique or ensure that they do not get harmed during the execution of said techniques. Strain on the body wasn't something that many people could handle, at least from what he had seen. They heavily relied on their chakra and then once they were tapped out, well they weren't exactly capable of defending themselves after that. Not that he judged the physically frail.
He was engrossed in the read enough to be caught off guard when Asahi asked him his question. "Huh? Oh! Yeah you're right haha." He'd close the book and look up towards Asahi with a sizable grin taking residence on his face. "Reading is the best kind of entertainment one can have when no-one else is around, in my opinion." He sounded very proud of himself as he made the exclamation. It was something that he believed wholeheartedly. "I wouldn't say I am a bookworm though, I merely dabble!" He started to laugh in a way that was more akin to a alcohol swigging barbarian than a civilized man. He'd finally answer the question that Asahi had asked him, however. Handing the beautiful man the book so that he could flip through it and get a sense for the material himself. "It's some sort of Jutsu Encyclopedia, I am looking up things related to hand-to-hand combat. But I plan ta move onto elemental stuff soon." He thought it was handy to always have information at one's fingertips. That way, if he came across any bandits with these skills he'd be aware of how to deal with it.
"Flying Swallow is in there, that is what they call it in the book at least." He'd point out, answering the earlier posed question finally. Though he'd then turn his attention to Hayato who seemed to be finishing up his practice, or at least this round of it. Call me Hanzo and no thank ya, ain't my jam." He'd then flash the youth a big smile, since he now felt respected and not completely overlooked. He was just asking Asahi to show him a few things. He wasn't about to call him sensei or anything. The mutual exchange of knowledge was the fundamental backbone of society. He didn't know why this man assumed he was a samurai though. There wasn't a katana to be seen anywhere around Hanzo. Perhaps it was his style of dress? If so then that was even worse, given how he thought he dressed up more like a noble than anything else. He'd make a note to update his wardrobe promptly. Despite this confusion, he spoke out and held no ill will in his voice as he did so. ]"Pretty sure you two are the only ones here that qualify as swordsmen. Though given the aesthetic of the village. I'm sure you'll bump into many of them. If ya really want ta share knowledge though, what is yer chakra nature?"
Despite not wanting to learn the techniques, he picked up every single thing that they said. A shame really. He'd learn it regardless.

He’d watch the newcomer practice and provide encouragement and critiques where applicable. In truth he felt the boy was doing quite well. After he lost focus he took a brief pause and spoke about what he knew of the wolf temple. Running through it, all the information more or less matched what Asahi could remember from the scrolls. In truth the kid probably had the exact wording down way better than Asahi could ever hope to. He’d studied the fundamentals, and extracted the techniques, but the rest of the philosophical and story portion he had already let vacate his mind. Though there were some similarities, Asahi was a samurai not a monk, so he had his own biases already built in. His own spirituality, his own views. To him the monks ideas where just that, the ideas of a man against the wide breadth of religion as he knew it.
“No thank you.” He’d say waiving his hand in the air. “I’ve read enough of a monks ideas. Though temple pilgrimages are a favorite past time. One day mayhaps I’ll learn more.” He’d say smiling. “Asahi Yagami, and none of that sensei nonsense. We are equals, friends trading secrets nothing more nothing less. I haven’t the time for such rubbish.” He’d say. His words light and airy. In truth rank meant little to him. His family where more akin to mercenaries than he cared to admit at times. They worked for the Daimyo of the Land of Iron, whenever needed. Though that was the only order, there was the samurai and the lord. Some had earned positions of respect, but they were far from the land of iron, and Asahi did not see himself in such a position here.
“O I don’t know.” Asahi would say at Hanzo’s words. “Sadly there have been few swordsman. This is a hot pot of a place. So many ingredients thrown in. I guess that’s natural when you are a trading village. My cousin and I are samurai trained. Though I believe he has picked up more of your shinobi shenanigans. I prefer the old ways though.” He’d take the opportunity to lean against a boulder. His blade resting in its sheath, his bow retrieved from the ground leaning on it. He’d watch as Honzo asked the question of Hayato. They seemed to be delving into shinobi affairs. Elemental affinity? What a strange question. He’d known some elements were more akin to individuals than other, though what that had to do with anything was fairly beyond him. Within him was spiritual energies brought about from ritual and communion, the flames of life burning, the ebb and flow of life and death washing his soul clean. These were his beliefs, they were his truths.
“Well…..you two seem to be getting on, and I think I’ve given you enough to think about.” He’d say, gathering his belongings. “If you ever have need of me, I work at the tea shop. Come by and I can do a tea ceremony for you, refresh your body and mind.” He’d give a slight bow. “A pleasure.” With that he would walk away unless interrupted. Exchanging quick wit with the goodbyes if anyone had anything clever to say. His shift at the tea shop was due in a couple hours, and a shower was in order.

When Asahi expressed no interest in the scrolls and proclaimed them equals, Hayato was caught off guard. Right, I just thought… Never mind, forgive me Asahi-san. He was a bit embarrassed. A light red flushing could be caught if they were paying attention. If you require something from me in the future do not hesitate to ask. If it’s something I can do I will lend you my aid…. Your insight was…invaluable…He wasn’t exaggerating. It truly was the last push he needed. The visualizations and personalized attention had helped immensely.
It seemed Hayato was mistaken about Hanzo’s class. While he was certainly a shinobi he didn’t care about using a sword or so it seemed. Oh, I guess you could apply what you learned to any weapon…I guess you had a certain look about you and I just figured since you were learning from a swordsman…I’m sorry I won’t assume any longer… He felt he maybe had done a faux pas, but Hanzo had taken it in stride. I’m sure I could learn a thing or two from you too… Hayato wasn't the greatest at being social and he knew it. A consequence from moving around and not knowing many people his age he’d guessed. Hanzo seemed to be well seasoned, and, while a bit rough around the edges, he was smooth and confident. My natural chakra nature is wind why do you ask? He questioned though he probably knew the answer. Hanzo had seen him adding wind chakra to his blade. The three were sharing skills and Hayato had yet to add anything to the pot. He was about to speak up when it seemed Asahi was getting ready to leave.
Oh right you must be busy… I’m sure I’ll be able to perfect my technique in just a while. Thanks again for your help. I hope to see you again… He gave a polite bow as Asahi walked off. He would surely come by for tea sometime he was a fan of the beverage. Listening to Asahi’s spiritual lectures would be of interest if was the type to give them out, and maybe he could learn more about the differences between samurai and shinobi.
He returned his attention to Hanzo. ...so wind chakra is what I use I suppose you would be interested in learning? If he got a positive response he would start his explanation with a caveat. I am just a genin, and I haven’t actualized any techniques with wind release yet……, but I can at least get you started. Hayato would profess this to Hanzo with a bit of shame, but if the man was willing to listen he would share his few tips.
Nature releases all have a particular feel to them. Molding your chakra and giving it a property of one of the five basic natures is easiest with the one your chakra favors so learning another without extensive knowledge is a bit more difficult, but not impossible…. He was looking to learn water release for access to the ice release hidden in his blood.
The visualization for wind release is a clashing and grinding of the chakra together. It was easy for me, but the visualization I use is sharpening a blade with a metal of equal strength.
Hayato circulated the chakra within his body, making sure to do it slowly for even those unable to sense chakra could attempt to feel the action. He clashed and rubbed his chakra together within himself, and then burst forth from his palms in the form of wind.
Give it a try if you would like….I will watch and then go back to practicing. If you need help I will be here for a bit longer still.Hayato would look on if Hanzo wanted to give it a try offering other visualizations and examples of wind release if necessary.
Hayato would eventually get back to his katana. He would practice the incomplete truth technique a few times. Running the chakra over his blade was getting easier and easier after practicing flying swallow and the samurai saber technique. He was getting good at it. Once he was able to maintain the wind natured coating over the blade for a full minute he was sure he was ready for bark.
Hayato closed his eyes. He would recall the monk’s words in the scroll and all of Asahi’s movements during his demonstration. The exact way each muscle moved when he swung, and the way he gripped his blade was clear in his mind’s eye. Hayato breathed deep and swung.
The bark rang out through the practice area and slammed into a nearby stone. He had finally accomplished the move he’d been working towards a long time. He wiped his brow, and looked over to Hanzo to see how he was getting along. Hayato would answer any questions that he had and correct any misunderstandings. Hayato had a great text book understanding of wind release, but the feel was something Hanzo would have to get himself.
Once he had helped all he could he would speak up. I will leave for the day, but I come here all the time… If you see me again feel free to speak up… I will greet you then as well… He bowed lightly Thanks again for letting me join. I hope I was helpful… He would gather his things and wave as he left. Hayato had noticed that his chickens would be getting hungry soon. He couldn’t stay much longer.

Asahi didn't take the book at all and seemingly had no interest in looking up the jutsu that were common to the ninja world. Alright, that was fine with Hanzo, he'd just tuck the book back into the haystack, Watching as Asahi seemingly engaged into a conversation with Hayato. They spoke about whatever blade swinging nonsense that they were on about. He did used to favor the sword himself, but it just never felt right. It didn't feel as good slicing things as it did smashing them. That i where all of his interest lied now. He wasn't a big dumb idiot like his new friend seemed to think he was. He was a person that studied a great deal. Brains and brawn. He figured that it only made sense that he fully dedicated himself to the pursuit of his brawn over-all. Such exercises would prove most fortuitous in the long haul. He'd leave the realm of elegance to those who seemed to fit it better. He wasn't even sure that he wanted to use weapons primarily anyway. He was wondering if it was wiser to focus on hand to hand combat more so than anything else. But time would tell if that was the course of action to take.
Asahi mentioned having a cousin and then things started to click in Hanzo's mind. Asahi... Yagami... and he had mentioned Yasahiro... who was the komekage. Wasn't Yasahiro's last name also Yagami? Wait... they were cousins? The thought donned on Hanzo but his face didn't change in any way. As his face was rather lazy when it came to anything other than smiling. His shock turned into being amused. Amused that the leader of the village's cousin had spent so much time with him. It was strange really, to befriend someone of importance. Especially someone as humble as Asahi, who didn't make a big deal about his family or his lineage. It was interesting for Hanzo to be in his presence. But soon his newfound friend would announce that he was going to take off. Hanzo could do little beyond wave at him. Not saying much since he was too busy thinking about everything that he had learned today. There were many factors that he didn't consider. So it was only natural that he'd hunker down and make sure that he didn't forget any of the lessons that he was taught. Things were likely going to change in his life. He wasn't sure how well he'd survive, but he had to try.
Oh, man this boy could talk. Just watching his mouth move over and over again was enough to cause the soon-to-be-muscle god's eyes to glisten. Not because he was bored, but because he wasn't the type of guy that usually had to listen to people speak at all. He was a man of action. You merely had to point in a direction and then before you knew it he was on top of the task. Doing whatever was required of him to succeed in any given moment. But he was the one that bothered to ask about how to mold wind chakra, so he had to deal with the backlash of such a request. Not that it was so much of an issue, however. He was the kind of guy that kept himself focused whenever needed. Even if it was physically causing him pain, such as the case of this very moment. Hayato had good intentions, he was sure of it. But he just didn't like the way in which this man explained things. Why couldn't he just be more blunt and literal? Just say grab the air man, its not that hard of a thing to comprehend. It was just wind shit. There was no reason to wax poetic.
Still he appreciated that he had someone here willing to teach him. Didn't take him long at all to start generating a sizable amount of wind based chakra, however. Hanzo was a prodigy when it came to learning. He didn't have a great deal of chakra reserves and he wasn't the most vigorous person around. But when it came to moving his body in such a way to where he didn't waste any movement, that was where he excelled. The man was a physical specimen to be sure. He'd let Hayato know eventually that the lad could go about his business again. Hanzo spent more of his time binding that wind chakra in a way that was fitting to what he desired in this moment. He'd begin to bend the air around him, infusing it with chakra and allowing it to flood inside of himself with a great deal of efficiency. He'd bind it around him before it ultimately dissipate. It was disappointing, but he was sure this was the Lion Hawk technique that he read about a bit ago. He knew that if he tried this a few more times he'd ultimately learn the technique proper. But he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to learn it today.
There was no point in trying to further his training now. Not in this moment. Or... perhaps. He decided to widen his stance, watching as Hayato seemed to be lost in his own training. He thought deeply about the relationship between himself and his weapon, the bond that had the potential to be formed so long as he invested himself into the craft. There was a great deal of understanding that he knew he lacked. Why would he not hone his skills with extensions of his physical form? It was the most effective means of keeping himself alert, alive and capable. Perhaps if he dug deep enough, he'd be able to unlock the very depths of his ability. That seemed to be the best-case scenario for himself. There was a great deal of force building inside of himself. Washing over every fiber of his being and causing his breath to even out. He'd grip the two kunai that he had returned to his pouch and held them out in front of him. Using them as the catalyst for his chakra infusion this time, allowing the wind chakra to pour into the metal and surround it. It'd rush out and around his body, encapsulating him in a thin layer of blood orange colored chakra.
The amount of chakra that was escaping his body was starting to strain his body, he didn't have large reserves after-all. But he did hunker down, getting his stance lower as he poured more and more of himself into the cuts. He allowed it to become him, to unite with his very being. His muscles tensed and waned as he pushed past his limits. He wasn't aware of it, but the pressure and strain on his body were similar to that of exercising. He was moving in such a way that he could barely combat the pain that was surging through his figure now. He wanted to become stronger, he needed to. If he was in a village where it seemed as though every other person was going to be a prodigy, he had to pick up his own slack. He couldn't allow himself to succumb to his own weakness. With that in mind he began to feel the tears on his musculature until he winced for a moment. Stopping himself in his tracks and breathing heavily as he noticed Hayato approach. Fortunately it didn't seem as though the man noticed what he had been doing. This was good, he didn't need there to be any comments made on his choice of exercise.
"It was a pleasure ta meet ya, young man. See ya around." Hanzo stated as he began to look around himself. He had a few more hours before he needed to be anywhere else. So he took his time with the remainder of his training. Making sure to go over everything that he had learned today on the off chance that he missed something important. Once the sun began to set, he'd pack up his stuff into the bale and began on his journey outside of the training facility. Perhaps it was time to start building himself a home.
