Gaining entrance to Kiri
Fri Jan 14, 2022 4:55 am
Walking through the thick mist, blocking out most of the sunlight, yet still able to make it hot and sticky out. With streaks of blindness as light fills spots of the mist, he made his way to the village gates. He had come here for a few reasons, with the first being that it was one of the few places that he had yet to go to, and it was technically the birthplace of his parents before it was Kiri. Plus, he needed to get some information on what is happening in the world. If he was going to be looking for allies in his quest, he would need to know who would and wouldn’t work with each other.
He made his way down the damp road to the village wearing loose fit black pants tucked into his boots, and a dark blue shirt mostly covered by a white hooded jacket. He had the hood pulled up, blocking most of his face. Keeping most people on the road from asking questions or talking to him. After all, everyone knew that the mists of Kiri carried all kinds of dangers, and he was not planning on being one of the people that fell to them. His mind racing over the possibilities that the village would bring to him. After all, he had not been to a major village in years, and last he had heard Xavier was the Mizukage. He had heard that he vanished, and that Kiri was on their third Mizukage now a young woman named Murata. Apparently she was quite powerful and had been busy having made peace with Konoha freeing them from their servitude. He wondered just what they had to pay for that as he walked.
After what felt like traveling forever, he was finally able to see the gate walls in the distance. He would hopefully be able to rest soon, maybe get a room at an inn and some food. Making his way up to the gate, he could tell the walls were well-kept and high, able to withstand a tsunami, it looked like. However, he knew that a wall is only as good as the person guarding it, and he could see several shinobi standing guard on the walls. The gates were open and there were people standing in line to get in. Going through the procedures was annoying, but it was a part of life and no one liked it. He simply waited his turn in line, looking around he could see that some were merchants mixed with farmers and tradesmen.
Once he made it up to the front of the line, he would have his paper work ready. To hand over and answer any questions that they may have. The paperwork would simply have his full name on it, Cole Yuki, free-range Mercenary. He didn’t know if anyone had heard of him in the village, as most of his work had been done over on the continent, but he had been helping some of the smaller villages as he made his way here. After all, he had to have some money in order to get a room in the village. Plus, he didn’t want any trouble, especially with a major village. Once someone took his paper work, he would pull his hood down so that they could get a look at his face and see that it matched the picture on his ID.

Once again Gonk was being sent out to the storm barrier to check up on a suspicious figure. Last time it was that missing ninja who had pretended to be an old man, but this was someone new. They had taken the road up to the edge of the nearest island, and were apparently seeking entrance to the village. Intel couldn’t get much on the guy besides the fact that he was a mercenary, so Gonk didn’t know what to expect from the man. Like before, Gonk sailed up to the storm barrier upon the pirate ship that he had commandeered back when he was still a genin. The water was rough just like usual when he started to grow near to the storm barrier, and the clones had to pull harder and harder on the ropes to keep the sail taut. When the boat was only a few meters away from hitting the swirling mass of tempest chakra, Gonk formed the special hand seal, and a tunnel appeared in the storm barrier, big enough for the boat to pass through. Once on the other side, sailing was much smoother, and after a few moments, Gonk arrived where he was told the man was.
On the island he spotted a figure who appeared to be waiting for something. Gonk couldn’t make out any of the man's features as he wore a hooded jacket that concealed his face, however, Gonk assumed this was the mercenary he was sent to see.
“Hey,” Gonk called out as soon as he was within speaking distance, “I’m ANBU agent Mako of Kirigakure. Are you trying to gain entrance to Kirigakure?”
Behind his ANBU mask, Gonk would watch the hooded man carefully, appearing calm and relaxed on the outside, but ready to leap into action at a moment's notice.

Cole stood, with the mist concealing much of the distance. All he could make out was a ship coming into port on the island he stood on, waiting to gain entrance into the village with any luck. He didn’t have to wait long before a pretty big looking guy, Cole assumed. Walked over in his direction, getting Cole's attention and introducing himself as Mako of Kiri. Before asking if Cole was trying to gain entrance into the village.
“My name is Cole Yuki” he would tell Mako as he removed his hood. Making sure to not make any sudden movements. After all, the man was dressed in anbu attire and introduced himself as such. Cole was no fool and knew that the anbu were some of the strongest shinobi of a village. “Yes, I am looking to gain entrance into the village, I need some time to rest and recover from my travels, as well as do some research in your public library.” Cole would answer the man, keeping his eyes peeled for any signs of danger. After all, he was currently in the blood mist.
Cole would do what the guy said, after all, he didn’t really have a bag or anything with him to search, as well as answer any questions that the guy might ask.

The man revealed himself to be named Cole Yuki, and pulled down his hood for Gonk to see. Already this was going much smoother than his last excursion to let someone in. There wasn’t even a need for grilling, as the man openly stated his intentions. A major village was a bit of an odd choice to rest in for a mercenary, but that wasn’t really Gonk’s problem. For all he knew, the Yuki might have people after him or something. His other reason was something Gonk hadn’t heard before.
“Visiting our library huh,” the ANBU agent thought, “that’s a new one. I mean I guess we have a pretty big library, but I’ve heard that the one within Hoshigakure is much bigger. Although, I can definitely see why someone wouldn’t want to go there. He also might be looking for something in particular.” But again, this wasn’t really Gonk’s problem, and Cole was being polite and respectful, so Gonk didn’t have any reason to turn him away.
“Alright, come aboard,” Gonk called out, throwing a rope ladder down to the dock. “I’ll take you to the village and let you through the gates. If you want to show me your papers now I can check them on the way, then once we’re through the gates, you’ll be free to go.”
Missing ninja typically had to be taken to either the Deputy Mizukage or the Mizukage herself before they were given permission to freely roam the village. However, this man wasn’t actually a criminal, simply an unaffiliated shinobi, so he could skip that step of the process.
Assuming Cole gave his papers to him, Gonk would look over them as he steered the ship back towards the storm barrier, making sure everything looked good. Seeing no problems with them, Gonk handed them back before forming the special hand seal that opened a gate in the raging storm, allowing the boat to pass through undisturbed. The return trip was smooth as Gonk expertly navigated the craft through the waters and into the port. After tying his boat down, Gonk led Cole to the village gates, where a bit of a line had formed. Luckily being an ANBU agent had some perks, and Gonk was able to skip the line and walk straight through the gates, bringing Cole along with him.
“Welcome to Kirigakure,” Gonk told him once they were inside, “feel free to explore the village at your leisure. The library is up that road over there, and that building right there is a pretty good inn. The food is good and the rooms are affordable.” Gonk pointed as he told Cole about these locations. “Unless you need anything else I’ll be on my way now. I hope you enjoy your stay here at the village.”
So long as Cole didn’t need anything else from Gonk, the ANBU agent would disappear in a small puff of smoke, leaving the vagabond to do as he pleased.

“Thanks” Cole say as he got on board the ship, reaching into his pocket to pull out his paperwork. He would hand it over into the man's open hand. Everything would be straight forward, giving the man Cole's full name and that he hailed from Waterfall country. While it was not entirely true, it was the one place that he felt most at home at.
Once they were docked in port, Cole would follow him off the ship and up the road to the village gates proper. Being with one of the members of Anbu Cole got to skip the line that had built up of people waiting to get in. He followed Gonk into the street and listened as the man pointed out a few places that Cole had mentioned. Making note of the Inn and the library both, as they were both a key location he would be spending some time in. “Thanks for the help, have a good day” Cole would tell the man as he turned and made his way over to the Inn. While he was excited to get started on his research, he needed a hot bath and some rest without having to worry about people attacking him in the wilds while his back was turned.
