Re: Sunagakure Chunin Exam: Jupiter VS Karo VS Kin
Sun Jun 26, 2022 1:49 pm
Since the clones decided to retreat towards that of Jupiter's main position, it allowed Karo to wonder why they’d return to that position entirely. The purpose of the clones would have been to stop Karo from knowing about where the other boy was. There was a connection to that specific spot. There just had to be a connection to why the clones were there. Karo’s eyes fixated on that point for a moment. UNtil the sudden plume of smoke ascended from the area as well. That was the giveaway that Karo needed to of course allow himself to be able to actually find where the Jashinist was. That circle that he drew earlier was rather strange. Why would he draw a symbol like that on the ground? Karo had no real knowledge of what that symbol meant. Perhaps it was some kind of special precaution? Yet Karo began to run towards that cloud of smoke. Moving about five meters right as the clones made their way towards him, the stomping of the two groups about to make their way towards each other. As Karo had moved another 5 meters while they had already covered enough ground. Yet since they were coming from different directions entirely from the converging point. It gave Karo enough time with his free hand.
“You got one last shot at this, the clones can’t hurt you, since they aren’t shadow clones…. Or else they wouldn’t have gone down after such simple blows.”
Jupiter using that cloud of smoke would only have hurt his chances, as it allowed Karo a small chance. One that he’d take, their curved lines would have given him enough time to fire the blast. Weaving the hand seals Rat, Dog, Tiger, Rat from his one hand. A small two foot fireball would appear within his hands. The amount of power within it would be enough to cause some damage. The clones can’t actually hurt Karo the same way a real clone would. Which only gave him an even bigger advantage then beforehand.
Firing the blast blast while only being about 35 meters away from the location. Unless the Jashinist was able to sense chakra. Or share vision with his own clones. Then this attack, speeding at the smoke before suddenly exploding with a power and speed of 90. The combined total range being 50 meters in total. Karo, using his Kunai now, would attempt a slash at one of the clones when it eventually got close enough to him. Unless Jupiter had some other plan up his sleeve. He wondered if the boy had taken that blast of fire relatively well.

Re: Sunagakure Chunin Exam: Jupiter VS Karo VS Kin

As Karo's fire expanded towards the smoke at the edge of the ring, it incinerated the terrain under its path. The clones once again dissipated, unveiling the true nature of Jupiter's plan. He had anticipated that the same tactic would not work twice in a row, granted it didn't work the first time anyway. This time, his decision of positioning was slightly different. The first clone on Karo's right and the second clone that was hidden by the scorching flames in the shroud of the thinning out smoke bomb simultaneously vanished. The real body of Jupiter was on Karo's left, just as he had been since he left the smoke along with one clone while leaving another behind as bait. The smoke had carried out its purpose. It would appear that his target was convinced that he was a clone. As the fire left its origin, Jupiter's steps immediately staggered with a subtle alteration to his footwork, he sped up from a speed of 46 to 96, and he ran low to the ground with the taste of wine on his tongue. Right after the red haired shinobi cast his fireball, Jupiter closed the distance between the two Genin from the side - away from the heat of the flame - and extended his open left hand towards his opponent, who was now within arm's reach. Concentrating his energy into his palm, he would chase Karo and reach for his opposite arm - the one that he did not use to swing the kunai - opening his body up to the melee attack that was coming his way.
The kunai that Karo swung as a melee weapon slashed Jupiter's upper body diagonally from his left hip to his right shoulder, spilling blood. The wide grin and exhilarated expression on the shinobi's face as he witnessed his own bright red drops of blood in the air conveyed his bloodlust and his growing enthusiasm for the fight that was taking place. Karo's attack would deal 12.5 damage to Jupiter. Just as the sharp edge of the weapon pierced his skin, Jupiter would grab Karo's other arm with his left hand and tighten his grip. Immediately after, he would use his own right hand to grab Karo's bicep on the arm that he used to attack him with the kunai and clench his fist to grab him equally hard. 80 was the power of each of his Jotun grips. Should either of them be successful in clasping either of Karo's limbs with brutal force, Karo would be unable to move unless he has a greater strength or power than this technique. Should he be successful in making contact with either of his hands, Jupiter would tighten his clasp immediately on the first hand that hopefully grabs a hold of Karo. The tight grip is a crushing mechanism that would inflict damage equal to the power of his gripping technique if successful. Damage would only be inflicted once this turn, and if Jupiter can hold on to Karo, he could potentially restrict his movements in the next turn as well.

Karo's eyes immediately darted towards Jupiter. As it was something that Karo had actually not expected. Yet his movements were something rather unordinary, it was rather strange how he could activate that type of technique that aided in his movements. However since he staggered before actually making his way towards Karo, it gave him just enough time when the fireball actually left his hands. However this was the problem with the sheer speed difference. Karo could tell that since he was basically high on his own spirit. It would make sense that he’d wait until the right moment, but the right moment was now as he faced the person who had attempted to grab his arm. He instead had a better plan for the one who was drunk on power instead of slashing at him. The best part was that he only needed one single finger to pull it off. Not only that but the man was still a bit far away for him to aim and fire it.
Using his moment, Karo instead decided to wait right as the man would attempt to come towards him. He was at least twenty meters away from his own metric. Since they had decided to go for an outer path instead of diagonally charging Karo. Even with the intense speed difference. Karo was carrying a rather devilish Jutsu. One that should be able to help him in this scenario as well. Immediately weaving for Boar, Tiger, Snake, then Ox. Karo still had about 6 meters left. Allowing him to cast the devilish minus energy field jutsu with a sudden pulse surrounding him. Even in that drunken stupor, the jashinist must have been able to at least feel himself getting slower exponentially. As such Karo had debuffed the man's speed back down to 46. Meaning that he could actually dodge the attempt at the grab itself by moving diagonally towards his left. His finger suddenly pointed towards Jupiter right after the fact when he got in close. Trailing his movements and suddenly firing a small clone of energy from his own finger. Aiming to take out Jupiters entire abdomen just in case, as the cone widened immediately to 3 meters. And since Jupiter would be only a meter away. The beam of energy should go right through him.

Re: Sunagakure Chunin Exam: Jupiter VS Karo VS Kin

The stagger in Jupiter's step was not the type of stagger that slowed a man down. It was a forward leaning dash marked with a subtle telegraphing motion. The stagger was in fact the instant that Jupiter's speed accelerated. Instead of being a cue that granted more time to Karo, it was a rapid acceleration of pace that in reality reduced the amount of time that Karo had to react. He had already been sprinting towards his opponent at a considerable speed of 46 - which was already nearly twice as fast as Karo and most likely quick enough to void any attempt by Karo to simply react faster than Jupiter within close distance - since before the ball of fire was cast. It would appear that the heat from the flames and the fog from the smoke and ash had disoriented Karo's metrics, since the 20 meters of spacing that he had imagined would have been impossible in the given circumstances. The original distance between them before the fire was cast was about 40 meters, and then Karo moved towards the smoke to effectively further reduce the spacing between the real Jupiter and himself, as the Jashinist was on a homing path towards Karo. He had seen the various dimensions that fire techniques can take during the course of this battle, and calculated his movements to approach Karo not from the outer edge of the ring, but from the outer edge of the flame. It helped that Karo had picked one of his clones as his target when he fired towards the smoke after Jupiter himself had already emerged and started on his trajectory. Having implemented the style of the Drunken Fist to add another 50 points to his speed stat to make it 96, Jupiter was within one meter of Karo exactly when the red haired shinobi signed Tiger. The 6 meters that he had imagined that he would have was erased by the sheer difference in speed between the two shinobi.
Jupiter would continue with his original plan, except now since Karo had changed his mind, he would no longer get sliced across his torso by his opponent's kunai. No blood was spilled and hence he no longer carried an exhilarated expression that telegraphed his bloodlust. Instead, he appeared calm and focused, albeit a little woozy. Extending his right hand towards his target, he would grab Karo's signing arm and crush it at a speed of 96 before he could cast his Minus Field, retaining his strength of 133 to maintain the grip's power at 80. This grab, if successful, would restrict his opponent's movements, making him unable to cast his second technique unless he can resist the immobilizing effect of the Jotun Grip with a stronger attribute than its power. For good measure, Jupiter would also grab Karo's other arm as well with his free hand at the same speed and power, in case he managed to miraculously slip the first limb away.
Should either of his hands grab a hold of Karo and be successful in immobilizing him, Jupiter would immediately sprint towards the edge of the ring, this time dragging Karo along by his limb.

Welp, safe to say that Karo’s a bit on the unlucky side of things, especially given the whole clone situation which caught him off guard. He must have looked really fucking stupid to fall for one of the most classic blunders in the book. That certainly wouldn’t look good, especially since the proctor was watching them. And Karo of course, panicked, he panicked and tried to cast a jutsu while his vision had been distorted by the wall of flames that had been created near him somehow. Maybe it was just a lighting effect or it’s because of his own use of fire jutsu. But awfully convenient for Jupiter that his vision had been distorted due to the smoke at that specific moment. The plumes bellowing out of the fires that would most likely be his downfall. He was immobilized and now was currently basking in the fruits of his own stupidity. So, since Yotun grip is able to immobilize him entirely and make him unable to move a finger upwards. He was quite literally fucked. Unless his finger was already pointing in the direction of Jupiter, which even if it was, it probably is going to be crushed as he was being dragged away by his limb. Immobilized and unable to do really anything as Yotun grip apparently stuns the whole body, meaning that even his own finger couldn’t be raised to fire Cero. Meaning he had just been dragged away mostly through the dirt.

Jupiter let out a sharp exhalation from his pursed lips as his firm unrelenting grip successfully sunk his fingers into Karo's shoulder, and gritted his teeth to brace for any unexpected retaliation that his opponent may still have had up his sleeve. Fortunately for the Jashinist, his final gambit appeared to have worked in his favor. The shinobi in his clasp was clearly unable to break free. He no longer had to grab Karo's other arm to double down on his imposition. Instead, he used his free arm to help him optimize his ergonomics while sprinting towards the edge of the ring with the body of the shinobi who had almost bested him.
Running low to the ground, he dragged Karo along the dirt by his flesh. He did not feel any need to harm Karo any further after damaging him and disarming him with his initial strike. His plan from the very beginning was finally about to come into fruition. He had played by the rules and made use of his strengths. His awareness of his own weaknesses had allowed him to be humble and cautious at certain stages of the battle. When he was unsure about his opponents' abilities, he took extra care to avoid getting caught in their techniques by hiding from them. When he needed to bide time to reengage the liquor in his system for battle, he had waited patiently at a safe distance from Karo. The wine in his blood had helped him stay calm for his gamble in the moment of truth.
Upon approaching the edge of the ring, Jupiter would let out a coarse battle cry and waste no time tossing the immobilized red haired shinobi's body out of bounds, throwing him into the trench headfirst at a 45 degree downwards angle like a javelin. Upon launching him, Jupiter would wipe his brow and catch his breath, then let out a sigh of relief. That was a close one...

And that's the show
Suika had taken notes throughout the fight, she also knew there was a chance of the other proctors were watching as well from their own rooms – everything that happened within the simulation was played live, as well as was recorded should anything need to be pulled up again. Suika sighed as the first of the three fell, however he continued to wear his goggles, so he would continue to watch the fight in a firsthand aspect, where the woman was watching from several different angles, so she knew exactly what was happening at all times.
She made sure to keep her sounds, like sighing or the note taking as quite as possible, she didn’t want her disruptiveness to affect their battle; the notes she took would be key factors in the fight, things each of them had shown weakness, strength, or flat-out mistakes that were made. The fight progressed far longer than she had originally anticipated; but found herself neither pleased, nor displeased with the actions taken by each of these young men before her. When the final move was made; Suika would ring the final bell and end the simulation. She didn’t feel in this situation that anyone had won, or loss as each of them had made mistakes in their own ways. They were still Genin, and would be prone to making mistakes, but mistakes on an actual battlefield could end up with a fellow shinobi losing their life.
The woman would wait for them to remove their headwear before standing up, taking her notes in her hands; tapping the paper against the table lightly to organize them into a straight pile. “Today was a test, a test of how you react within battle, although the winner by default of last man standing is Jupiter, however – each one of you made mistakes, mistake that in a real battle could have cost you, your lives.” She would pause for a moment, “Taking these things in consideration, I do not see a winner before me. I see children thinking this is a game.” She would stare at each of them, directly and firmly. “I’ve taken notes throughout your fight, and these notes will be handed off to the Kazekage. You may leave now, but be more prepared for the third and final part of the exams.” She would click her nails against the folder she had placed the papers inside of. “You are excused.” She would wave her hand towards the door and wait for them to leave.
And should none of them stay behind to ask questions or inquire, Suika would then take her leave.

Even though the Akiyama’s family scion had “died” within the simulation that was provided to act as a battlefield, the nobleman would still opt in, continuing to watch the other two duke it out amongst themselves. Within the blink of an eye, he had been standing there within the ring, being set ablaze by one of Karo’s techniques, and then the next he was on the boundaries outside of it, within the spectator area. The fight itself was rather anticlimactic, but the choice on Jupiter’s end to stun and ring out the competitor was smart to say the least. Flawed, but nonetheless it technically secured the victory over to him. There was that unspoken generality albeit, in the sly and devious caveat being that didn’t necessarily grant the victor Chunin.
Knowing this, that the exams have yet to be concluded and fully scored to see who amongst the lot of them would be able to secure the village rank, Kin wasn’t too worried about the loss. Had it not gone according to plan? Absolutely. Sometimes though, the best plan in which one can undertake, is no plan at all. A little improvisation, off the cuff riffs during these trials of combat which added the advantage of unpredictability. It also provided things like a better reaction time cause not even the person fighting would be concentrating solely on what they were going to do next. Spur of the moment decisions, or a few seconds ahead would be a different story. Regardless.
Once the match had been completed, the genin would pull up the headset, and rise from it’s corresponding chair once everyone else was out and ready for the closing statements. He’d position himself so that way his right arm was maneuvered across his chest, and tucked under his left; while the left arm was bent upright at the elbow. His left hand would be facing inwards, the fingers being bent towards him and down flat against the palm. Eyes would scan over the beds of the nails, left and right making sure things were spick and span whilst listening to the proctor speak. At the mention that they all had their mistakes within this second part, his eyes would dart over to meet hers. Clearly, at least for Kin, that was something that was in agreeance. As much as he hated to admit it, he’d slightly nod his head to show this. However there was no other things in which he’d want to know. So once given the opportunity to do so, he’d offer a polite ”Thank you.” to Suika, before being on his way to prepare for the last part of the Chunin Exams.

Re: Sunagakure Chunin Exam: Jupiter VS Karo VS Kin
Fri Jul 01, 2022 12:32 am
Karo hadn’t been thinking much about his successes in this whole entire exam, more so all of the mistakes that he made throughout the fight as he had misremembered a lot about his own techniques. A lot of them were untrained and most of all, had been untested in general combat. It also made him think about that one jutsu that he’d think he’d need. But instead had been inside of his pocket that whole time. Yet it was his own preparation and also potential overconfidence that led to his downfall in this battle.
When the final bell had rung, his body descended down the large chasm out of bounds before the simulation itself had been disconnected with a sudden visual cue of the dark chasm encompassing his view before vanishing out of sight. He had been the last to go down, but also had wasted most of his time with simply waiting, and especially falling for that clone trick, which might have made him look worse in comparison to even Kin and his own performance. If those two were stronger…. Then he probably would have been the first to lose this whole tournament. His hands reach upwards to slowly take off the simulation. Staring back at the proctor with her tapping the paper on her desk before she arose from her seat. Karo's head turned to his right, noting that both Jupiter and Kin would have most likely taken off their gear as well. His fist clenched for a moment. He lost… So easily at the end, he had been tricked, bamboozled even by a simple clone technique.
Yet he actually felt… happy, it was something that tipped him off about his own weaknesses as well. His fingers uncurling from the center of his palm slowly and without hesitation as their Proctor would address them. Her words were like a cold ice shower raining down on them. Precise in what she thought of them, nothing more than simply children thinking that this was all simply a game. His response was only a simple nod, however, he wanted to ask something pertaining to his own difficulties in the battle. Mainly how he was not able to keep up with Jupiters sudden enhanced speed in the battle. It was the main difference of speed that had cost him the fight entirely, leading to him ultimately losing out on the ability to actually win this battle. How Jupiter moved was definitely like that of a drunken warrior, his movements were almost unreadable at times due to the sway in his movements. He should have played that waiting game however, for it had cost him the match entirely, it was also due to him not being able to fight two others at once that cost him the match as well. Karo’s eyes darted towards the proctor in question. Not even hesitating to ask them the simple question on the matter.
“Excuse me? If I could have a moment to ask a simple question? It’s just that, with me being someone who’s not particularly light on my feet, I was wondering if you perhaps had any suggestions on how to fight against fast opponents? I know me trying to potentially get closer to him was really stupid of me, and can cost me my life, yet I wished to ask since you are here?”
He gave a small hopeful smile after finishing his question, his eyes staring back at hers with a small warmth evident in them with just one look at the topaz coloring of Iris. His hands out in the open as to not show any sign of disrespect towards the proctor by approaching her as well. He stood there upright, facing her with that respect that the proctors had deserved at least. That’s what he thought, yet he still had a mellow deposition about him. The almost casual way he talked to her, almost like she was somewhat of a comrade at least. But Karo hoped for some kind of answer, if anything to his question about what he could do to improve in the future. That’s what the chunin exams were about after all. The improvement of the shinobi who all participate. Yet he gave a small wave towards Kin's brisk exit out of the technological marvel of the virtual reality simulator. Wondering if Jupiter as well would leave just behind Kin.

Unfortunately for Jupiter Yamanaka, he was unable to experience the warm embrace of death even in the battle simulation that was provided for him. As he took his headset off and descended back to reality, he glanced at the red haired shinobi next to him for a fleeting moment. There was a moment just before he grabbed him, when the shinobi seemed to twitch his finger towards Jupiter just as his own fist clenched over Karo's limb in the nick of time. Why did he feel such a looming sense of danger at that instance? Jupiter wished to know, but he wouldn't show his hand to go out of his way to ask Karo about it. Jupiter glanced back at the proctor as she made her comments about the fight that had concluded. A bland expression remained on his face as the proctor finished her statement. He did not know about the others but he himself was no expert fighter - he had never been trained formally in the ways of combat. He was not surprised that his own performance was no masterclass, although he had hoped that both of his opponents would demonstrate a higher caliber of skill for him to learn from.
As Kin made his thanks and left for the exit, Jupiter glanced his way and would nod if their eyes met. After Karo asked his question, Jupiter spoke up before his proctor could reply. "Thank you for the opportunity." He told the older kunoichi before shifting his gaze towards Karo. "It was an honor to fight you." With those words, he would get up from his seat and make his way towards the exit at a slow, controlled pace. He deliberately walked a beat slower than usual trying to catch the proctor's reply to Karo's question.
