Rust Blood [P/NK - Naki]
Sat Jun 11, 2022 3:26 pm
"Time to go back to basics."
Many, many years have passed since Blades has actually become a Genin. His lack of progress in terms of rising in the ranks were not from the fact he didn't work hard, or have no talent, as much as some people might think as much. No, he simply wanted to enjoy his life in a much more unique way compared to his peers, while also still staying a proud citizen of Sunagakure. Turning into a dreaded Missing Nin simply was not worth it, despite his pension for freedom, and on top of that he has never held too much of a desire to traverse the world at his current status. Instead, under the veil of night, he became a vigilante known as the Ebon Rose. This name was given for the fact that one of his calling cards, upon dealing with any sort of criminal activity, was a singular black rose, with the thorns either left on or removed depending on the situation. Their other calling card was the fact that many of the crooks and thugs he took on were left with two holes in their neck, as though their blood had been taken after getting a clean, concise bite. Usually, he would leave his marks alive, as there haven't been many that actually needed to die, nor were they important enough to even be noticed by the public for the most part. He kept it that way, though, as he did not want to be found, and so he has never told a single soul about his double life.
For his normal, everyday shinobi life, most of the tasks he took revolved around helping the community within the walls. Setting up market stalls, taking care of pets to help someone run an errand, teaching the academy students the occasional lesson after being hired to assist a Chunin for the job... to put it simply, he loved helping his fellow shinobi and citizen alike, and kept to the ground level of any tasks available to him. That's why it was difficult for him to really get any promotions, but in reality he didn't mind it too much. The current level of respect he enjoys is more than enough to live happily. That is, it was enough, but the calling for some greater has lately compelled him to take action. He couldn't figure out why, but the Beast has been hungrier lately. On top of that, he could feel himself getting complacent, stagnant in his growth, and it appalled him. So, why is he at the training grounds today, then?
To shake off the rust from his veins, of course! There's a lot of techniques, methodology and even physical exercises he feels the need to catch up on before he tries to reach his new short term goal; become a Chunin. Not the most ambitious dream to have, in all fairness, but he's comfortable with taking it slow while he's figuring out his own feelings. It wouldn't do him any favors to die on a mission with slightly higher stakes than normal, or to let one of his allies fall in his place. That's why his usual light training needed to be refined, so he could finally move onto more advanced levels of his craft. Later, he might even brush up on his blacksmithing, but for now he's much more focused on his combat capability, and getting more ryo to buy himself some more weapons. His last night patrolling venture resulted in him shattering his last blade, a straight sword, into a million pieces, leaving him with nothing more than a few shuriken and kunai, alongside some smoke bombs and explosive tags. It bums him out, how often he breaks his weapons despite knowing how to use them properly, but he tends to believe that it is simply bad craftsmanship on the people who make what he buys. Egotistical considering his own skillset, but can you really blame him?
Today's first retreading was to be Chakra Infusion. While a basic topic to most ninja and kunoichi, it's quite possibly the most important part of his arsenal to have as a Bukijutsu specialist. Even a cheap, crappy kunai, of which he's currently twirling in his hands while facing a test dummy, can utilize the enhancing properties of flowing his chakra through the metal itself. He felt his control on this basic skill slipping as of late, and that's why he's going through the motions once again, to make sure he doesn't fail when he needs it most. Plus, it's an important building block to many other techniques, so if he can't do this, he won't be able to do a whole heck of a lot more. Putting only a small amount of focus into this, he controls his breathing at regular intervals as he surges his chakra down his arms, and into the small metal blade, letting him strike at the fake target without worry of his weapon chipping or dulling nearly as quickly. With each strike, he felt himself getting better control, but he was a stickler for making sure he was doing it all nearly perfect, so he'd try a multitude of different attack patterns; a stab there, a few slashes to the chest there, even a couple of jab-slice combos. Occasionally, he'll throw a few acrobatic maneuvers, and even step away to practice throwing his weapon, making note of how the energy bestowed upon the object would dissipate quickly without him constantly touching it. All of this he knows, but it'll ensure his success later on.

Naki was just leaving the arena after his battle as he was a bit on the stiff side of things. The young white hair dark skin boy would come walking towards the training grounds as he wanted to learn a few things he's been putting off for awhile. He would start to approach the grounds as he saw someone who he hasn't met before there training. He figured he would leave them there to avoid there being a problem but he saw that they were in the process of using chakra infusion but they seem to be struggling a bit. Naki would scratch his head as he saw that he was using a kunai as that brought back memories to him. The young Shinobi would rub his head as he wondered why they were so focused on the jutsu well more like they were really serious about learning it.
The young man would inhale sharply and proceeded to walk to him. When he did he was wearing his full demon armor set with a mask on. He would slowly remove his mask revealing a dark skin male that looked to be 18 but was younger than that. "Hey, I'm sorry to bother you but I saw that you were over training the chakra infusion. Are you also a sword user?" He asked as apart of this demon armor there was two blades attached to his legs and one that was on his hip. He was in a cloak as well as his armor hiding his other two katanas on his back. "I'm sorry if you don't want to tell me I just saw you working that particular jutsu and I know it's hard to do at first try by yourself I was lucky enough to meet someone to help me learn it myself." he said as he started to go on about him learning it but then stopped as quickly as he started. "Sorry I have a bad habit of just talking for some reason. I'm Naki, or Raijin. I'm still trying to figure that out currently. If you want I could somewhat help you with learning that jutsu."

Concentrated as he is, he would be a poor ninja not to notice that someone else is approaching him. With one last strike to his dummy, he decides to let the kunai stab into it, keeping it there so he can grab it later while he's talking to whoever has decided to meet up with him. When he turns around, what he didn't expect was to see some person completely covered in head to toe with armor that made them look like a demonic shadow. One might expect him to be shocked, or even fearful, but it actually just made his eyes widen, and a lopsided grin creep onto his face, admiring the craftsmanship and handiwork of this suit of armor. Was this how other people saw him while he was suited up as the 'Ebon Rose'? He'd hope so, cause if that's the case, then damn, they both look badass. A part of him hopes this is just one of his fellow shinobi, though, because there's a huge possibility this might be an assassin hired to kill him, now that he thinks about it. Not that anyone could trace his trail thus far, but still! Fortunately, that changes when the young man before him takes off his mask, revealing another of his village. Lucky him, he supposes.
Carefully listening to what this individual has to say, he brings his hand to his chin and quietly rubs it with his index finger and thumb, as if seriously considering what this 'Naki' has to say. Did he really look like he was having that much trouble? All he knew was that he was practicing his infusions in different ways, to make certain he was always using it right. Yet, something about the person critiquing him caused Blades to realize that maybe they knew what they were talking about. It's easy to think that way when you're someone like him, after all, as esteemed of a vigilante as he held himself to be. The fact he even needs to retrain himself in the first place already meant that he was losing his touch, so getting a free lesson from someone at least attempting to be friendly? Sign him the hell up.
All he could do was break into a laugh, and step forward to extend his hand in greeting, his glistening hazel eyes staring directly into Naki's, quite ecstatic that their encounter has even occurred. It was perfect, that he'd have an actual partner to fool around with while he's getting his skills back in line with what they should be. "Hey, you're fine, dude. It's nice to meet you, too; my name's Blades. Don't know my last name, so sorry, that's all I can give you. Now, about my performance, as well as your question... first off, yes, I use swords! I use a lot of other weapons, too, but, uh... I kiiiiind of broke all of them recently. You might think that sounds real dumb, but that's the truth. They were broken for a great cause, though! By a great cause, I mean I was fighting someone with them. It's also something that happens a lot to me, for some reason. You'd think a blacksmith's grandson would know how to not break their weapons, right? Even when they know how to wield them properly. Ridiculous. Anyway, I'll gladly accept any advice and assistance you'd like to give me, presuming you got the time! I'll even have you train with me, if you'd like, cause I have lots to catch up on, with all the time in the world. Thanks for coming over, too; training is really boring when you don't have someone to do it with." Well... he certainly talks a lot. At least he's all smiles, instead of thinking Naki should shut up.

Naki, much like him, was all smiles as he explained his name situation. Naki didn't see a problem with it as he tended to talk for what was hours. Though something did catch his attention and it was the fact that he said he was constantly breaking his weapons despite being a blacksmith grandson. However Naki couldn't exactly talk it was only recently he took an interest in blacksmithing just to find out he's a natural with it, could be something that was in his blood who knows. As he listened he would nod as he thought about it, how can he help him learn what was the best way. "You already have a rough idea of how to build up your chakra but are you letting it flow into your blade?" he asked as he suddenly drew a sword that was behind his back. It appears that he had another one hidden that he uses for a surprise attack, however that's not the impressive part. When naki pulled the sword it came out with an amazing speed almost fast enough to slice the hair in Blades head if Naki wanted to. That was the quickdraw technique one of many jutsus Naki knows. "Watch." He said as he started to flow his chakra into the blade showing him the difference between the two of them. Naki would approach another dummy and with a quick slice he cut clean through the dummy before looking back at Blade. "This is the goal you want to get to. Then eventually you want to be able to take it a step further."
He would take out a kunai and cover it in his chakra before launching it, with barely a flick, towards a tree that once it impacted the kunai went deeper than what it normally would as the chakra around it disappeared. "The flying swallow an under utilized technique that people just dismiss but it can save you in a bind. Once you have these two techniques then you can and I recommend you learn this as well." he would take out another kunai before signing ram -> rat -> tiger. Soon his kunai was coated in his chakra much like the flying swallow but then the chakra grew matching the length of his sword as he compared them both in front of him before slicing the dummy with his katana, causing a decent slash to appear on the dummy before doing the same with the chakra covered kunai that went slightly deeper but the impact is very close mostly because of how he used it. He would jab the blades kunai into the dummy as the chakra stayed on it much longer than the flying swallow technique. "Samurai sword technique. When you lose your blades this can save you. Though don't let the name fool you." he told him as he pulled the kunai with the technique on it back out and focused the form making it turn into an axe then into a whip. Depending on your imagination you can make this become another weapon without needing to switch it. You nail this you can do a lot." he explained as he ended the technique as he nods. "If you want to learn some stuff I can definitely help teach you." he said sounding a bit giddy at the chance he might be called sensei for the first time since he was the one calling everyone else that. He would step back as the other dummy rematerialized in the training facility. "Give it a try." he encouraged him as he stepped back.

"Flow into your blade? That seems a little... obvious," he thinks, as he was already doing that. This wasn't the moment to be doubting Naki's advice, though, as when he watches him draw a blade from behind his back with the speed of an expertly trained swordsman, he can't help but audibly gasp. The sheer force of his draw was able to make his hair fluff up slightly, and he couldn't help but hide his growing smirk as his blood boiled with excitement. This dude definitely wasn't just talking the talk; he could walk the walk, too. That quickdraw is at a higher level than even he was capable of at the moment, and seeing him then proceed to slice a dummy in half with little to no effort only further emphasized that he's among welcome company. They even seem to appreciate the Flying Swallow on its lonesome, with a lack of the usual bonuses people try to stack onto it all the time. Classics such as that should never be underestimated, nor forgotten in the heat of battle... which is why he wanted to relearn it for himself. Now that he thinks about it, maybe what he meant by 'flow' was 'loose'? There's a possibility he was being too strict on his control, which made the infusion not work in the first place. Perhaps that is where he was wrong in his method of execution.
But there was more to this, and he saw the various amounts of kunai he'd throw around, before getting to the point where he's casting hand seals. "Ram, Rat, and Tiger, huh...?" he'd continue to speak internally, noting that the intensity of the chakra on the young Genin's weapons were now richer in color, but not too different from the Flying Swallow either. His intrigue only grew as these demonstrations go on, showcasing the sheer amount of depth in Naki's skill with chakra in comparison to his own. Some may find that demoralizing, especially since he's their senior in age from what he can tell, but to him it didn't bother him too much. There were still some tricks up his own sleeve that he was keeping close to his chest, of which didn't really involve the usage of chakra. That was to make sure he stayed a little more under the radar during his vigilante escapades, as the more of his fighting style he showed off as the 'Ebon Rose' that resembled his style as Blades, the easier it'd be to recognize him. Regardless, he's interested in this 'Samurai Sword' technique. He's not quite sure that's the exact name, but he could always look it up later.
"Alright, sensei. I see what you're putting down," Blades remarks playfully, before chuckling and wandering over to his recently used kunai. It has a few marks on it at this point, but that didn't matter to him too much, pulling it out of the wood of the screwed up dummy. Inspecting his weapon, he tilts his head over at his new friend with his smile at its peak, as if he couldn't stop himself. This showed... huh, he had fangs? Interesting. They aren't too big, but it's not everyday a guy has fangs. For all they both know, it could be part of his bloodline, but probably not. "Other than that 'Samurai Sword' technique you talked about, most of the moves you showed off to me I already knew about. Also, the way you talk about it is exactly how I'd mention it to you, were I in the same position. What REALLY spoke to me, however, was your little show..." Twirling the knife in his hand, he lets his gaze fall towards the just materialized target in the room, and saunters over to it carefully, a light hue of blue surrounding his kunai as he approaches. "One thing you got to learn when you're teaching your pupils, is that they will have preferred learning criteria. Some like to see pretty pictures, some go for the explanations you went through... but me?" he continued, turning back towards Naki with a little wink of his hazel eyes. "Seeing you actually do the techniques... and hands on experience," then he quickly brought his attention back onto his 'opponent', and threw his weapon into the air, performing the Tiger -> Boar -> Rat hand seals in swift succession. When done, he was just in time to grasp his falling blade, which almost immediately was surged with a much finer coat of chakra, revealing he activated the Flying Swallow- followed right afterwards with a vertical slice down the dummy's head, splitting it in two. "... is how I learn. Now, tell me, how do you learn best?"

The young genin would smile pretty brightly as he was called sensei, the look on his face was adorable. He would stand back as he watched him toss the blade up then preformed the signs as he tossed it at the dummy. He would place his hand on the back of his head as he sat up straight, still smiling brightly, before talking. "Haha yeah, I was taught to be a visual and vocal learner. Both helped me gain a clear understanding of the technique and jutsus. I figure if I don't know do both but sensei is still learning so thank you for the heads up." he told him in the calmest tone he's said as he smiled. "You learn quickly it took me a second to really understand how to use the technique but hey keep it pushing right. Since you're also a buki user what I suggest is learning this technique too." he would inhale as he stepped closer to the dummy and swiped at it showing him again the QuickDraw. "That is based off of how fast you can pull your blade out of the sheathe without cutting yourself in the process. he told him as he moved towards the dummy again before turning around to face some trees in the distance.
"Here's one of my favorite things to do. I haven't used it yet but I know that when I do it's gonna turn some heads. It's called the glass shard swing." he told him as he took the sword in his hand and swung it at an 180° semi circle making sure not to get Blade in the way of it. From there the pressure and power from the swing made it sound like the area around them was encased in glass as he shattered it and pieces of glass flew with the intensity of a thousand tiny demons. When they came in contact with a dummy, that was 20 meters away from them, they tore it to shreds as he breathes softly. He would then step back to indicate that he can give it a try while he was Naki was gathering stuff for the next thing he was planning on teaching him. The lightness skill. It's a very useful technique, at least to naki it is, while Blade was busy Naki would create two shadow clones of himself as they gave each other high fives as one clone took all the kunai the others had along with his and ran off in a distance as he prepared to throw them at their direction.
Once he had Blade attention he would nod as the other clone prepared itself. "So another thing I know that might help is the lightness skill. It essentially lets you use practically anything to help you get to point a to b faster than having to worry about certain things being thrown at you such as kunai." The clone would start throwing the kunai as the other clone would run straight at them as he jumped up and started to use his skills of surface walking to jump over the kunais and spin in the air. He would step on one kunai then the other heading towards his other clone however the real Naki would take his sword and started to deflect the kunai that was coming for him. He would swing his blade once again and knocked the kunai away showing he had other stuff that might be worth learning from him.

Re: Rust Blood [P/NK - Naki]

Strangely to Blades, it felt like his deft maneuvers and dramatic way of showing off had no effect on Naki at all. Easily enough for him, though, he dismisses this hint of ego, as he does at least recognize that if he were to get in an actual fight with this dude, he'd get his shit stomped in. All the chakra-based techniques he's shown off, as well as his casual showings of skill alone kept him aware of this fact. To be frank, he forgot that even those around his social rank tend to be much more adept in a fight than him, just because his goals were thrown into fighting men and women alike that didn't show too much skill in such combat arts as Naki displays. Both humbling and amusing the situation is to him, but it only strengthens his determination to reallocate his skillset, so he could better serve his village, and the people in it. Did he really have to get shown up by a kid, though? "Probably," he thinks, smirking to himself. What's a better way to kick your ass into high gear than when someone younger than you is better at what you do?
Back to the lessons; making sure his Genin friend saw his eyes following the entire time he's showing off, he takes in the next four or so techniques he has to bare witness to with stride, starting off with another showcase of the Quickdraw technique. Yet again, he knows about that already, though he can't really apply its usage when he doesn't have the proper weapon to activate it. It is when Naki pulls out the Glass Shard Swing move that he has to pause and look quite bamboozled. As his ally's blade swung at alarming speeds, a moment of silence was taken before an armada of what looks like pieces of glass propel towards one of the poor target dummies. Except, how could there actually be any glass whatsoever? This isn't sleight of hand, nor was it a Space-Time technique, as far as he knows. So was he literally able to cut so finely through the air itself, that it pressurized and somehow sharpened, with the combination of his chakra flow and sheer speed? That's probably the most impressive attack he's had the pleasure of viewing here today, and when he's given the go ahead to try it out, he doesn't waste any time in doing such.
Keeping his peripheral vision on the up and coming sensei, he takes his kunai from before to ready himself, concentrating on the thoughts of pretty much breaking physics as a concept in of itself. That's what shinobi do on a daily basis, and he really should get into the mindset of that more often. His mediocre speed in comparison to Naki's could have prevented him from actually performing on a similar level, but when he broke through what could probably equate to the sound barrier to slice through the air, he can't help but giggle to himself as at least a few shards go careening through the air, and into the head of a dummy. There'd be more time to practice this later, since he didn't do nearly as much as he'd want, but it's a start to say the very least.
Finally, the "Lightness Skill", as it's so lovingly called; awesome as always. In fact, that happened to be one of his personal favorites of the retrained utility skills he wants to have under his belt once more. There wasn't much more to say on that matter, so when Naki and his previously created clones finally land in the air, he puts away his ninja tool to clap his hands in a congratulatory manner towards his short-term teacher, walking towards him and offering his hand with a toothy grin. "If I had to give you any other pointers for teaching someone, I'd say you're going quite fast. I'm only picking up on a lot of this because I'm already a practitioner of Bukijutsu; so just imagine if you had to teach someone entirely new to this the very same techniques. They'd probably think you're just showing off. So, why don't we make... a contract of sorts, bound by this handshake? You can help me catch up on all the fancy chakra based moves you know, and in return... I'll teach you all about my own area of expertise; social stealth. Course, I know the Academy teaches the fundamentals of that, but trust me, if you know how to talk your way out of a problem, or even solve it with just your words alone, that'll be a greater weapon than any katana you'll ever pump out of a forge. What do you say? Wanna be my partner, Naki?"

Naki would look at Blade as he spoke to him nodding in the process. Though he was more focused on the fact he was able to pick up on these techniques even for him if took awhile for him to even get even close to be able to even do the glass shard swing yet here is blade doing it no problem. When his clones landed and he started to clap all of the sudden it through Naki off as he gave him more pointers about his teaching something that Naki didn't think about as he nods as he rubbed the back of his head. "You're right, I did t exactly think that because that's how I was trained. It was essentially one jutsu after another I probably shouldn't just do that with anyone like you said." despite being so young Naki would own up to his mistake and looked at his hand as he reached it out for him to shake. "If I didn't know any better it would sound like you're recruiting me." he would tease as he shook his hand before pulling it back.
"Well I came here in hopes to learn something myself but I gained a new friend instead. Hopefully we can learn a lot from each other. Oh by the way because you broke your blade, no pun intended, as a symbol of our friendship and possible partnership here I want you to have this. Please don't break it." he teased him as he gave him a katana of his seeing as he had an extra hidden one on his back the two on his legs and the last one on his hip. He'd reach behind his cloak and undid the sheathe handing it to him along with the regular katana. "If you ever want to hangout or train or anything I live at......" He'd give him his address and smiled as he took a few steps back and began towards the exit. "Hmmm my account is looking a bit light maybe I should go out and do some missions."He said to himself just loud enough for blade to hear but it wasn't intentional however it could be a learning experience for Blade and Naki together.

Really, it brought a massive amount of joy to Blades that his new friend took well to criticism, on the same level he dealt it out to him at the beginning of their encounter. This guy's definitely a keeper, and though the vigilante wanted to have a partner for his own crime fighting endeavors, the dawn of their companionship would have to do for now. Once he feels Naki is to be trusted, and ready for missions they deal to themselves rather than receiving them from their mission board, he'll simply be happy to train and develop alongside him as simple people, with the not so simple lives of being fellow shinobi. His handshake is firm, and when said shake is loosened, he gives the Genin a friendly smile, which immediately turns into an expression of sincere shock and excitement upon being gifted a sword by them. That's definitely not at all what he saw coming.
"Recruiting... ? Well, maybe, but, I just wanted to help a brother out for helping me progress. You deserve it for being so kind. On top of that, you're even leaving me with a keepsake... one of your own swords. Gods, now I have to actually try really, really hard not to break this one... thank you. I appreciate this, and you. I'll make sure to repay you soon." For the first time, Blades actually looked a little... nervous? Just a tiny bit of sweat beading from his brow, but he shakes it off and graciously accepts his new weapon with both hands, being careful as to respect the occasion. Deciding to get a taste of what is to come, he unhooks the ribbon from the sheathe, and gingerly slides the blade out of its scabbard, the silver sheen of the metal glaring in his bright hazel eyes momentarily. As basic as the composition of this is to him with a critical eye, it meant more to him than a hand me down. This isn't just a symbol of their friendship, but this almost felt like a promise. Maybe he was reading too deep into it, but he was always kind of dramatic. Setting it back into its home, and tying the ribbon back up securely, he nods and wraps the leather strap around his waist, and hangs it behind his lower back, an easy place to draw from if he needs to on his way home.
Then, after accepting Naki's address, he chuckles quietly as he hears the mentioning of going on a few missions. Come to think of it, his pockets were a little slim for his liking too. That's what happens when you're doing thankless work all the time, instead of commissions from the Sunagakure itself. Now that he doesn't feel nearly as rusty anymore, and he has this wonderful katana to wield... yeah, that should work out. That should work out just fine. What would work out, you may ask? It's quite simple, and that's that he could pitch in on getting some busywork done with Naki. It probably won't have anything to do with the Bloodworks, but he's sure maybe a little blood could possibly get drawn at the end of the day. That's just how it works with the missions Suna wracks up... for whatever reason, they get a lot of dangerous ones. Probably because they're in the desert. Before he takes his leave, he speaks up. "Hey, why don't you take me along if you're going to go on a mission? We'd get it done more efficiently if we're together... and you won't lose any pay, either. Not to mention, we get to know one another better, and maybe we can get to fight someone if we're lucky. That isn't part of our deal, but... I'm asking that not as a partner, but as your friend, now. Feel free to decline. Something tells me we'd make a great team..."
