Things had picked up for the Ametsuchi heir since his meeting with Tsuna and his subsequent missions. It had gotten him into the swing of things, but something else had been driving the young swordsman to get back into his prime - The Nova Exam. He stared at the letter every hour of everyday with a smile knowing this would be it...this would be how he would show everyone how strong he was...and that everything would be his. He had fallen into a pit of despair and he felt it, but it empowered him...drove him to further areas of determination that even he didn't know. Cassian had watched silently, knowing this would be "best" for his partner...in order for him to fall into place. Either way he sat within his forge with the lights still on pondering on what he would do with this mission today. He needed some funds due to not working for what felt like weeks, but with the exams coming up he needed the materials to make sure all of his weapons were going to be up to snuff. As a blacksmith he took great pride in his crafts and each weapon or armor he brought into this would showcase that. Standing up he would throw on his usual attire- his armored jacket which sat on top of his kimono, his black pants, and a pair of boots. Today he would only bring Cassian with him. Strapping the massive weapon onto his back he would head out of the forge and toward the Shrine area. Things had always been in a state of disarray within the village when it came to shinobi and civilians but why they thought helping at these shrines would help bewildered him. Even so, he agreed to the mission to at least show his face and if not that maybe the meditation would bring him closer to himself. The trek from the forge to the shrines took him maybe a couple of minutes if not an hour, but it was filled with silence with every step. Both of his hands were stuffed within the depths of his jacket pocket, amber eyes facing forward and blank as he maneuvered around those that had been in the bustling street.

Those that knew him would smile and wave which in return they would receive a small nod, the whispers of the "child" prodigy of Mercurio being out and about started to fill his ears but there was no smile on his face. He knew that he had surpassed his "old" man by miles thanks to the weapon embedded in his arms, but only one knew about that...but soon they all would. After an uneventful walk, he would arrive at the gates of the shines, his eyes looking up before taking a deep breath and walking forward. He could hear a few footsteps coming up behind him which caused Morio to turn and see who it was. A small if not straight smile appeared on his face as he turned back around to settle his footing," Well if it isn't....Miki? Is it? What brings you to the shrines unless...you are the one on this mission with me huh?," a small chuckle escaped his lips as his right foot lifted off of the ground and off he went. What didn't surprise him had been the amount of stairs he had to traverse to get to the main section of the shrines. What did was how he felt being here. Off wasn't the word but it was as if somewhere deep down he felt... unbalanced. Shaking the thought from hims mind he continued up the stairs and looked around in the process. The scenery of the shrines or rather the path leading up to them felt like he had been walking through a portal to another land. On the one had he was in a bustling city but now he had been in the realm of Gods and Law. As he crossed the final threshold and saw the first shrine he would be greeted by a few shrinemaiden and the head monk themselves.

They would exchange bows to the young lord in which he would bring his right hand left hands together, the right in the form of a fist and his left an open palm," Thank you for allowing us to come and help assist you in your tasks and experience a bit of the shrine," Morio had stated to the head monk. It was certainly his first time here, but he felt...at peace just like when he was in the forge. The Head Monk would smile and wave a hand to the blue and black haired male noting that he was just happy they took time out of their day to help and show people not every shinobi was centered around themselves. Whenever his partners or anyone else had came up and joined them, The Head Monk would notify them that they could help with any task that the shrine maidens had or peruse the shrine to their hearts content. Either action would look good on them honestly. While Morio wanted to help clean, he inclined to go about and look over the shrine just to get some things off his mind before helping out. With that being said, Morio would turn on his heels and wave to the others as he walked off. His adventure took him around the main building into a grove of sorts. It had been littered with sand, trees and a pool that in the center had a small area in which people could sit and meditate. No one else had been there so with a small leap he would land in the sitting area and stick Cassian into the ground in front of him, sitting in front of it and sitting indian style. With his legs crossed and in a comfortable position, he would begin to take in steady, deep breaths and soon after he began meditating in silence only hearing the sounds of the wind and the gentle swooshing of the water.

Missions Galore Empty Re: Missions Galore

A stir in the pile of blankets and comforters that covered the bed and anyone who laid in it was the only sign that someone was in the apartment. Crom unburied himself from his bed, his attempts at ridding himself of the natural cold he always felt even in the hottest places still very present. There were many in the clan that saw there constantly cold state and resistance as a boon granted to them from their ancestors and lifestyle but to Crom he simply wished he would feel warm without having to either be in a blizzard or hidden inside a 20 blanket cocoon. Crom decided it was better to focus on the things he could actually control and change as he picked up the scroll of his kitchen counter, there laid the briefing of what mission he was to head off and do with a group of other Shinibo of the village. “Head to the Shrines for your mission, you will be a group and there may be more then one mission to complete.” Sparse and barely informative but Crom was use to how short these messages were and begun to do his routine. Washing up, cleaning up and dressing up Crom was ready for the day ahead of him, he still amazed how well the full bodysuit fit him and was glad for its added protection though he figured he would grab something more like a head cover of sorts in the future to round out his physical defense.

Slapping his tanto onto his thigh and opening his apartment door, Crom begun his trip to the mission rendezvous. It was trips to where the meet up was happening that Crom wished he was given more information about who he would be working with and what they would be doing, knowing what you are getting yourself into without having to wait for someone who got chosen to receive more information was obnoxious as to Crom it just felt like it was adding steps to some easy task to make it into some complex undertaking. “I bet its just people up top making more work to seem like they are really adding to the growth and upbringing of the village.” Crom muttered to himself as he thought about those who were hiding in the any place that positions held power over others, without fail there would be corrupt and lazy individuals that held onto their spot by hiding from the lights and slipping through the cracks. Crom shook his head as if he was trying to get rid of that train of thought cause he was almost to the Shrines that had been mentioned in the scroll, he didn’t have time to waste on other thoughts that weren’t the mission ahead of him. Crom could only hope that the people here that were being forced to work together would simply wish to finish the tasks ahead of them quickly and without all the weird “We must be friends.” Dynamic he had to deal with from other groups. They were Shinobi of Hoshi not on some field trip.

The Shrines ahead of Crom were grand in nature while visibly being very basic and simple, there were very little decoration or color that stood out but the atmosphere as you grew closer to the shrines were one of calm and gentle winds. Crom didn’t think of himself as a religious person and there would be very little from others that would suggest that he would be, but being here made him think that maybe there were things as gods and goddesses. These larger forces that had shaped their world into what it was now and still continued to dabble in it, Crom had never heard of anyone meeting anything like those beyond legends and myths. Though the more thought he gave to it the kind of things that some people were able to accomplish while still being considered Human, he wouldn’t be surprised if in the long run someone had become deities and such.

Climbing the stairs weren’t exactly hard or tough they were more annoying and wasteful in Crom’s mind, he couldn’t think what the point of the long ascent was. “I might have to ask one of the people working here what the deal is about that.” Crom said to himself as he reached the top of the hill and entered into the Shrine area proper. There were the typical Shrinemaidens and priests making their rounds, cleaning what they could and nodding at the young Shinobi when he passed them with smiles and warmth. There ahead of him seemed to be some people who stuck out against the background, a boy he assumed with silverish blue hair. It seemed he was speaking to another person there and something about them gave off the whole “These are the people you are working with today.” Feeling so Crom approached the small group forming. “Hello I am Crom Tokage, Are you also here for the missions?” He asked politely hoping that these were the right people and not just some visitors that were checking out the shrine itself. “Does anyone know what we are actually suppose to do today? Or will we have to find the head hancho here and ask them?” He questioned looking around already seeing where the most likely places such a person might be at to make any future decisions easier to deal with.

Missions Galore Empty Re: Missions Galore

Mama washed and combed and curled my hair And then she painted my eyes and lips, then I stepped into a satin
FANCY WASNT
MY NAME

Miki sighed as she moved along, another mission, another day. It seemed to be never ending supply of missions in Hoshigakure; her sleek movements along the city would keep her mostly unnoticed as she moved towards the Shrine; yet again another strange mission, one not requiring her to be a ‘fully fledged’ shinobi, as she had… Little to no battle prowess. She certainly wasn’t a ‘normal’ shinobi by any means; rather… Only having made it to a ‘genin’ level, and being forced to quit shortly after making Genin, she wouldn’t have had the chance or opportunity to continue… Well, until now. Miki was free now, free to do as she wanted; how she wanted. Although she hadn’t found herself a teacher, nor was she the most willing of participants in the matter, she struggled along these types of missions that required words, or physical labor. It was easier this way, and sometimes, much like this one; they paid well.

The woman had changed from her morning attire, as it was a little more… Sultry for a Shrine, she opted for a simple kimono as she wanted to be proper in the setting of such a place of worship. She didn’t want or rather, she couldn’t bring herself to insult anyone at the Shrine or their ancestors. She was raised to be the utmost respectful in manners such as this. Needing to cover skin was just a simple task that she could easily complete.

As she moved along the city, and made her way to the Shrine, she would find herself being one of the first there; her eyes guiding along the on comers as they worshiped their ancestors, leaving offerings and other small trinkets. It wasn’t until an oddly familiar voice would ring from her side; her head would turn slightly to see the strange boy she had meant only shortly before; “Well, if it isn’t Morio – How strange to continue to run into each other like this.” She would give out a small giggle, covering her mouth with the fan she had tucked inside of the arm of her kimono; as she slid it out and flicked it open. “It appears that once again, we are on the same mission, dear.

As the pair exchanged words, Miki’s eyes would advert to a third coming towards them, smiling as he spoke; introducing himself as ‘Crom’; Miki would take the lead in these regards, remembering from their last appearance together, Morio wasn’t much of a talker. “A pleasure, Crom. I am Miki Satow.” She would bow her head, unsure of the man’s rank, she preferred to be safe than sorry. “This fancy gentlemen beside me is Morio. And it does appear that we will be working together today.” Another smile, the woman held a form of attraction that was unusual, often times this attraction lead to free gifts, overfilling plates, extra Ryo on missions, and from time to time – unwanted attention. Her beauty was definitely something to look at; but Miki preferred at times to work behind the scenes.

With being more covered up than normal, she wasn’t getting nearly as much attention as she usually did. But it was noticeable, the extra-large smiles, and on lookers staring towards her was something that she had just grown accustomed to. It was easier to ignore them, than rather acknowledge.

The woman would watch as the head monk and Morio would speak; gaining the knowledge of exactly what they were suppose to be doing today on their mission. The group would of course hear their tasks; as the conversation would go on, the older monk making it clear what they must do and complete. “We have some areas within the Shrines that need tending more than others; and with the recent influx; we need a little extra help. If you could clean up around the smaller Shrines, and pay respects while you are there it would be greatly appreciated.” He would start, his voice was thick almost as if this was his first time speaking in days, which could be more than likely the case; as often times monks would go into meditative states where speaking, and other mundane tasks, they weren’t allow to do. “We have some gardens that have been neglected as well, further back past the main Shrine, if you have the time… To help with that as well.” The old man would give the ragtag group a smile, simple and kind… But ominous at the same time, “Just be warned… We have spirits that wander these grounds. Often times with words that follow them. We cleanse the grounds often, so most of them are friendly, but near the back gardens behind the main Shrine… Those can be… Tricky. We don’t always get to them, if a spirit approaches you, do not acknowledge it. I cannot promise they are safe.

A simple warning, but a warning nevertheless, one that Miki didn’t pay much mind to. She didn’t believe in Spirits or anything else of the such, she personally found herself believing more in the science of things, real and not fake. And in her eyes ‘spirits’ were just the heart’s desire of unfinished business.

Miki watched as the old man would bow and take his leave, her emerald eyes watched carefully as he proceeded to head down the stairs that felt like they took forever for her to get up… She smirked, her eyes glancing back towards Morio; then towards Crom; “Ooo…” She giggled a little once the Monk was out of ears length, “How spooky! Perhaps we should start back there and see what happens?” Of course, part of her was kidding, and she didn’t really want to tempt fate… She didn’t believe, but she also wasn’t dumb. She didn’t want to get herself into anymore trouble then she truly needed to.

But whichever way the others wanted to start, should it be in the smaller shrines, or back behind the main shrine… She would follow, however reluctantly.

Missions Galore Empty Re: Missions Galore

Sun Jun 26, 2022 11:55 pm
Generally, most shinobi found mundane tasks such as helping with the tidiness of another person's property to be a complete waste of their time. Assumptions like these are not entirely unwarranted, given the very core foundation of being a ninja or kunoichi is to be a weapon of war for your lord; a simple tool. The definition of a shinobi's meaning overtime, however, dripped down into the river of change, much like every other aspect of humanity's life in general. Nowadays, while stealth, guile, espionage and assassination were still mainstays in the every day life of a Hidden Village's military, the members of this esteemed line of work were no longer stalkers utilizing the cover of shadow to accomplish their grey coated quests solely. A community worth its salt, no matter what the basis of its creation is, should have its members working towards the collective future for the development of their homes, as well as preserving the past for their citizens to look back on their legacies and history. Military asset or not, shinobi serve the same purpose, and as such commissions such as keeping the sanctity of a shrine as pure and prosperous as it can be are just as important as a deadly mission in the country of the enemy, seeing as religion is one of the ways the government could not only help keep hope in people's hearts... but control them, too.

None of that really harbored any grip on dear Shobu's heart and mind. Instead, she was grateful to be allowed to honor her family's name, as well as her own, by taking on the labors of needed of her as a kunoichi of Hoshigakure. Of course, she never was chosen for combat roles, which was extremely lucky in her eyes. The Uzumaki wasn't built to kill, steal and destroy, no matter how hard she thought about doing so. It's a wonder she even made it out of the academy, with how absolutely passive she was in nearly any given circumstance. Her activity was focused on the wellbeing of others around her, rather than the original intent of a shadow warrior, and her superiors knew this. That's why she was able to get high ranked missions, yet they almost never involved actually fighting someone. The hands of an artist and a lover were able to make their mark on the village by serving the people around her from the inside, and as of today, she was set to help at one of the few shrines in all of the village, to uphold the will of their fallen ancestors, and make their resting places as pristine as when they were first built. Naturally, she was a perfect fit for the role. It didn't matter that there was the possibility of more missions, or that others would join her, given time. Somehow she doubts it'll get more intense. All she could hope for was that her group would be easy on her, seeing as she wouldn't be much help if it came down to a fight.

Before everyone else was there, Shobu actually arrived an hour early. The funniest part about her first request of the day was that she already planned on visiting the shrine today, in order to hopefully receive the blessing of Benzaiten. Her role in the realm of deities was as a goddess of beauty, luck, love; and all that flows, such as music, words, and water itself. This was her patron deity, the one she's dedicated the most time in giving her worship to, given her nature conveniently flowed naturally with her own. Dressed in a rather simple, pure white kimono with a pink ribbon to tie her waist, and a fancy flower crown made of different colored lilies in her hair, the extra hour she was provided gave her enough time to get on with being guided through worship by one of the many friendly priests and priestesses. This time, she wished that her current relationship paths would turn out in good fortune, given she had a great feeling about a certain someone she met a couple of days ago. Shaking off the flushing in her cheeks afterwards, she was sent to clean behind the shrine itself, in its beautiful gardens in the grove. There's a lot to do, as according to one of the people who worked there, it's not very often that certain areas are cleaned well, due to rumors of spirits guarding their own resting places. Of course, in order to preserve their privacy, she made sure to steer clear of danger areas, and stuck to where most would be visiting anyway. If they are to actually clean that part, she can wait for her supposed group to arrive, after all.

When she's done, having rested by a tree after dealing with much of the litter interlopers have left on the ground, she ends up spotting a peculiar boy taking the time to sit down, and take on a meditative position. No one was around at the time, so it was only naturally he wanted to take the time to peacefully go through the thoughts that may or may have not troubled his mind. The mix of blue and black that combined into the coloration of his hair was rather fitting for the style he went for, and needless to say, it made him stand out. "If I were a betting girl... I bet he's one of my party members. I'll give him a few minutes." There's no way she'd interrupt someone trying to have peace, when they've just started. So, instead she worked her way towards his location by doing a last few touch ups to the area with the thoughtful strokes of her broom, any leftover dust and debris on the trails being hidden expertly in fresh blades of glass, leaving no one the wiser. By the time she's done, it has been five minutes, so she finally walks up to Morio, a gentle smile creased upon her lips. "Good day. You wouldn't happen to be on a mission here too, would you? I was told a group would be accompanying me today... are you one of them? My name is Shobu. It's nice to meet you, even if you aren't one of my partners."

Missions 2 and 3:

He noticed one th9ing about Miki after their first meeting. She carried a certain air about her that would always elude the young male. Not because he did not understand women, but instead because it was something he had yet to experience from meeting them. That made her both mysterious and dangerous but for now he would not complain about it. Turning his head to meet her gaze he would chuckle and smile," Seems like it. Either you are bound to me for some reason or maybe we just both like making money when we can. Either way it is a pleasure to see you once more," though as another came into view his smile would fade for just a moment as he merely waved since Miki went ahead and introduced him. He had to have been the only shinobi within these walls that just didn't meet many of the other ninja because this one was another mystery to him. Either way the introductions were out of the way and now the fun could begin. Morio had already decided on what he wanted to do and unknown to him it would take him to the area that the head monk had just been talking about. Leaving the others to take on the tasks or adventures they wanted he would say a few words before disappearing from sight," We will meet at the stairs once more...If you are all here then that means you are here for the other missions as well. Have fun and don't get taken by any of the spirits," and with that he would disappear toward the area he had been heading toward. As he sat down however and brought his hands together, he could feel the pulsing of the blade in front of him, as if Cassian had been trying to commune with him in this area. Within his own mind however he appeared in that same landscape as he had been in his sleep. A field as far as the eyes could see under the dark crescent moon sky. The sky had been filled and scattered with stars and a lake sat to his right that reflected the light from the moon and stars perfectly creating a dance upon its surface. He crossed his arms for a moment as he pondered on why his meditation had brought him to this area once more, his eyes scanning the area until he had seen the broken throne once more. This there there had been no form there, just the dilapidated seat. Morio slowly made his way over to it and stared at it for a moment, running his fingers over the throne slowly. With his fingers alone he searched for a story and there had not been one he could find within his grasp, but what he did find he heard behind him.

Steps, slow and steady filled the field as he turned slightly to catch the form of an unfamiliar person, but when he looked into the eyes he knew. A chuckle escaped his lips as he looked onward toward the form and shrugged," So this is what you look like huh? Gotta say I prefer you as an eyeball instead of a full form, but beggars can't be choosers huh?," the form looked...human, feminine even. Slender with some form of a bust though she had been wearing a black cheonsung and sandals. He had thought Cassian had been male, hell the entity spoke with such a voice and made mentions to itself as a man yet in reality here they were. It threw him off for a moment but he quickly came back to reality as Cassian chuckled and shrugged." You believed what you wanted and went with it. Using a masculine voice was just easier I suppose. Now what brings you to this field is beyond me. You never wanted to be here within this place and you reject my power but relish in what you make. Its interesting how you can even commune with me knowing full well the damage you are doing," and to his confusion he didn't realize this was an actual space. Wherever his meditation had taken him, it lead him to Cassian and vice versa. Not one to question anything he would take the words in stride and point a thumb back to the throne," So that's yours? Is the reason its broken because I am bucking against you?," to which the entity would chuckle, holding a hand just above their mouth as they spoke," No you silly boy. That is you. Broken. An heir without a throne. A boy without a castle. You have nothing in your name and you are barely an heir. Even the bastard has mastered an ability that should have been natural to you, but because you want to go against the mold yours is broken...incomplete. Because of you," the words would trail off as Morio turned and looked at the throne and there was visible anger and confusion within his form and yet he would not let it show.

There would be silence between the both of them before Morio turned to face  Cassian without saying anything. This was pointless to him at the moment and because of that he would open his eyes returning back to the waking world to the sound of someone speaking. Turning to face them he would realize they were talking to him and he rubbed the back of his head and nodded," Yeah me and two others. They should be done doing the other tasks. I'm heading to the front to meet up with them now," He would stand up and grab the blade, returning to his back and jumping back over into the sand. Making a follow me motion, he would walk back to the front of the shrine where he would wait for Miki and Chrom to arrived. With Shobu hopefully following, Morio would take the time to introduce himself," My names Morio by the way. After this we will be heading to another place to continue doing some missions if you want to come with," though he would fall silent afterward and wait for the other two to come back. Once they had arrived, he would wave them over and listen to how things went for them. After their explanation Morio would quickly fill them in on what would be going on next," We have about two more missions to go and take care of so we are going to head out and deal with those now so we can be done with the day," and that he would head on out. This little trip they would be taking would lead them to the gates of the village though for the most part Morio would be silent unless someone spoke to him. Once outside of the village they would only take a little longer until they came across a dilapidated ruins. It looked like it had seen better days but they were heading down. To the right of them had been stairs that had lead down to their actual destination," From here we need to be careful in case something happens. With any luck we'll find these relics without an issue and keep it moving. Alright let's do it then," and down he went.

He would head down first, looking around and seeing what all the ruins had in store for them. Oddly enough the torches were lit as if someone had been down here or tried rather. That alone put Morio on edge, but he would remain calm just in case. Once the group had made it down the stairs they would see a large corridor that would split into four equal routes. A bit odd, but he shrugged at the notion and stood in front of the third one," It would be easier if we just split up and tackled them all at once. Yell if you need help, meet back here in fifteen?,"  he'd wait for any objections and if none were to be had he would would head down his path. The further he walked the lower the lights got and thankfully due to Cassian's glowing he could make out where he had been going. At the end of his corridor came a large room maybe 50 by 50 that housed a pillar in the center of it. The pillar had been broken of course, but something about it called out to him. Slowly he would walk forward, unknown to any dangers of the room and once he reached the pillar he walked up a few stairs to stare at a broken blade. As he moved to grab the hilt something pinged through his form causing a small jolt to shock his hand. Bewildered by the fact he would take a moment to process what had happened before taking in a deep breath and reaching for it again. When it was finally in his hands he knew this feeling. It was the same feeling as holding Raizel...as holding Cassian. This was forged by a Hoshi...no. This was different. Was this something forged by an Ametsuchi?

He didn't know how to honestly feel about this and after taking the hilt of the blade and what remained of it, he would head back out and meet up with the others. There were many questions he had about this, but this was not the time nor the place. When the others had finally came out he would motion for them to head back up before speaking on what they found. After they had spoken about their individual accounts, the group would be off to their final mission- To find a flower. Morio remembered that they would need to be careful when heading to the location of the flower," This last one requires a... delicate and silent approach as we are not supposed to leave any kind of evidence as to where these flowers are. Once we are done with this we can reap the benefits of our work and sleep," if they all understood he would begin to head out toward the area of the rose. The way they were supposed to take would definitely be watched by poachers and thieves alike so Morio opted to take a different route. He would mark the map with the original route and instead make a slight deviation that would allow them to bypass any watchful eyes while not compromising time. The group would have been walking for about two hours but it would be worth the result as they arrived to their destination without any prying eyes or pursuers. With the area being entered he would walk off to notate the vegetation and landscape of the area while the others looked for their sample so they could leave. So far from what he had seen, the area the flower was supposed to have grown in was a bit...interesting. It looked as if it was untouched and growing rapidly likely because of the lack of shinobi or civilian interaction. The vines and thorns were thicker than what he had normally seen and would pose a problem if one were to get stuck on one. Thankfully he didn't have to deal with that but for any unsuspecting idiot this would be a problem. He would pull out a small notepad and begin to notate some of this and also put in a few pictures for reference as he looked over every so often to see what the others had been doing. After taking his notes he would meet up with the others and with the sample in hand hopefully be on his way out with them. While he waited he would call out to the others just to pass some of the time while they were still looking...hell he would join them to look for it just so he wasn't bored," So did you guys think something like this would actually exist in this kind of place? I mean it looks like this environment hasn't been touched by anyone in years and if it was created like the wildlife preserve...well they could make this plant anytime they want. Also be careful of the thorns they are bigger than they should be and might impale you if you run into them haphazardly. Never thought I would be playing the route of planter finder and protector," the last part of course would be murmured to himself but as long as the others were having fun making their money, what did Morio care? He found himself going through a grove of sorts on and at first he had made some strides to getting through without crouching but the further he went, the more he would have to. He had half a mind to cut anything out of his way but why would he destroy something like this and risk getting into trouble or killing off a rare plant life? No he would stick through it and luckily his armor was strong enough to actually take whatever had been scratching against it without damaging it. As he finished crawling through he would find himself staring into a seemingly massive grove with a plethora of plants and fauna he had never seen before. It would be hard to believe these had been here all this time if he had not seen it himself. Shaking his head he would begin to go through and look around for that which he was here for, thankfully he didn't find it here because this place had looked amazing. There had been so many types of plants and colors that he had honestly a hard time believing they could come in so many arrays. He stood there for just a few moments taking in everything and for a moment he had a small smile on his face. Who knew that being among nature would calm the raging storm inside of him, though it wasn't something he would admit. Shaking out of his trance he would turn on his heels and return to the others, hopefully they had the flower so they could leave this masterpiece behind and untouched.

Missions Galore Empty Re: Missions Galore

Mon Jun 27, 2022 10:47 am
The group gathered together full of similarly aged Shinobi or at least that is how it felt to Crom, The male who had been mediating was named Morio and the woman who introduced him and herself was named Miki neither of these names rung any bells but that wasn’t anything surprising for the homebody. He rarely went out of his apartment unless he was purchasing new books and supplies or doing missions like the ones they would be doing today to sustain his shut in lifestyle. Crom nodded his head to each and showed the appropriate respect to each. It seemed that there was suppose to be another and it happened to be another woman though this one only seemed to speak to Morio and went by Shobu.

The head monk approached the group and chose Morio to be his focal point for the briefing of the missions that they would be doing while here. Crom listened intently while the monk described that they would be tending to neglected areas of the shrines land and that there was even the possibility of there being spirits of evil alignment that could be haunting some of the places. They were to ignore and not acknowledge these things if they are encountered and just a part of Crom’s mind had this thought of “Are ghosts and the like really real? Or are people just that paranoid?” which was natural for anyone that hadn’t truly encountered the more supernatural side of the world. It was a weird contrast on what was known as normal and expected when the people of the world could literally make the elements in their movements and actions but to Crom that was explained by a process that was almost void of the supernatural. Chakra molded through the body with the affinity that each person seemed to have and then transformed into the element by the application of the appropriate handseals caused the change needed to the Chakra.

Moving past the slightly off track train of thoughts that were starting to build up in the young Shinobi’s head he watched as Morio decided he would tend to one section by himself and would leave the rest to the others of the group which wasn’t anything surprising, Morio seemed to be someone that liked to complete missions quickly and without the fuss of interacting with the others of the group more then needed. That was something that Crom could appreciate and he followed their lead deciding to take it upon himself to deal with another section of the gardens that had been well overgrown and horribly neglected he could hardly see the tombs and gravestones hidden beneath all the vines and plants. “Now to take this part slowly and with care, I have no time to be cursed by some ancient ancestor.” Crom muttered to himself as he slowly went through the process of trimming and cutting the vines and branches as needed till he cleared a small portion of the garden and had a foothold in it to begin going along the outside till it was brought back under control. He would take his time to make sure to fix any knocked over things and objects he would find and return them to their appropriate places. Though there were times he had to stop and ask a passing shrine maiden on if he should move them and such so that he didn’t end up causing more harm then helping. They pointed the young man in the right direction and gave him plenty of smiles and assurance on the good he was doing with the help.

Once he had completed that task and was satisfied with his work Crom was quite happy with the work he had done. The once overgrown and abandoned portion was now cleaned up and taken care of, the graves and tombs cleaned and visible the area that had felt like an overbearing and chilling place was replaced with what felt like warmth. It was like the owners of the area were happy to have finally been taken care of, Crom was just happy he didn’t have any interaction with the supposed supernatural and he wondered if any of the others had dealt with anything like that.

They regrouped as needed once completing this mission and Morio went over the next missions that they would have to complete before the day was out. It seemed they were being tasked with retrieval of an artifact of one of the major clans and then more gardening in the simplest of terms but with the added obstacle of possible thieves and bandits trying to take the roses they would be transporting. “We really are dealing with all the ancient and dangerous tasks today aren’t we?” Crom asked out loud not really wanting a response to it but more a escaped thought brought to light. It didn’t take long to make it to where this artifact was supposedly at but just seeing how worn and torn the ruins were he was sure that they would need to move with careful and calculated movements. It looked as if these ruins would fall if you simply breathed to hard in one direction. It was strange how close to the village walls such a large set of ruins was, it made Crom curious on what had been here and he filed away that string of thought for the future so he could go look into it later on. It seemed that beyond getting some ryo and experience he was also gaining some good insight on knowledge he might not have been able to find while staying in his home. A small positive in the long list of negatives that came with going outside.

They moved through the ruins till they came upon a fork in the path which had four different ways to go. Morio had decided they would split up from here and he chose the third opening and had left after not hearing anyone say anything against the suggestion. Crom simply shrugged his shoulders and chose the first path just to quickly get things moving. This was when he really relied on his Clan’s inherent sensing ability to things that gave off heat and energy granted he could only sense out to five meters around him but in ruins like this it would help him greatly navigate the area and possibly sense anything in waiting. Though he found lit torches on his path, “Either these are some of the best torches in history and made from the spirit of fire or someone has been here searching just as they were.” Against his better judgement Crom decided to take one of the torches after making sure it didn’t have any traps attached to it and move through his path continuing to sense around him. He really needed to train this ability more as when he was focused on this he couldn’t really do much else.

Eventually the path opened up and he walked into a large room with stone pillars holding the roof up and vines growing and snaking their way along the walls. Beyond sensing the various critters that scurried along the walls and in the dirt he didn’t sense anyone or anything that would do him harm. So he examined the area looking around and studying the ruins. If he wasn’t going to find some artifact then he would at least find something to learn about and study. It was some time afterwards that Crom left his path and came back to the splitting where they were suppose to meet up. “I didn’t find anything except a large room that was empty beyond some critters and vines.” Crom said with a sigh though he noticed that at least Morio had found something and that was a relief. He did wonder if they others had found anything and would examine the objects if they had but if not then he would simply follow everyone back out of the ruin and on to their final mission which Morio once more went into detail on what they would be doing exactly. All Crom knew about it was that they would be attempting to transport some flowers and that there were people who wanted the plants.

Morio discussed how they needed to take a route that would throw of anyone watching or wanting to follow them to the flowers and while it took around two hours to traverse the group had seemed to avoid any real trouble which Crom was more then welcoming of. He didn’t feel like dealing wit more problems then needed when it came to any kind of mission, the area that the rose was suppose to be growing was surrounded with enough overgrowth that unless you knew what was beyond it you wouldn’t even bother trying to find a way past it, it took some time and much work to make it past the thorns and vines which some were the width of a man’s forearm and the thorns seemed to be as sharp as daggers. “Of course the last mission is the one where we could actually be hurt on.” Crom said with a slight annoyance twing in his voice. Moving past all this overgrowth they entered a large field of beautiful roses that spanned the whole area, there were so many that they could stuff their bags full of roses and hardly make a dent on the area. It made Crom curious as to what they were used for that they were so precious and abundant here. Crom began to take note of the flowers and the area around them studying the plants and vegetation to give him just another thing to study and learn about once they returned and he noticed that Morio was doing something similar. It was nice to see others taking an interest in learning things, a lot of shinobi simply wanted to punch, kick and stab things. Morio spoke to the group talking about what they thought about the area and such. “This place was probably made by the village to grow and harvest these Roses for some reason, I would bet this place is as natural as the walls of the Village.” Crom stated as he collected his needed sample and grouped up with the others as everyone finished their tasks. “Yeah I noticed that while we were making our way inside.” Crom mentioned on the topic of the massive thorns and vines. Once everyone had met back up he followed them back to the village to turn in the tasks and collect their rewards.

“Well that went by a bit smoother than I expected. If there is nothing else I wish everyone the best and goodbye.” Crom would say to the group as he politely left to head back home and think about the new things he had learned while on this string of missions. From the study of what the steps of the shrines, to what the ruins they had explored and searched through and finally why did they need those roses and what were they being used for? So many things to research and learn about that the young Yuki was more than excited to get started as he even turned himself to the bookstore instead of his apartment.

Mama washed and combed and curled my hair And then she painted my eyes and lips, then I stepped into a satin
FANCY WASNT
MY NAME

Miki sighed softly; watching as the group would begin to gather; her eyes scanning each of the other people who showed up, including the newer girl; she was still unfamiliar with other shinobi within the village; however, her smile would return when Morio would speak towards her; her emerald eyes staring cautiously towards him as he made a mention of them somehow being bound together… The smirk that would creep along her face as she nodded towards him; “I would hope the later, but for some reason I think it might have something to do with me needing a large amount of funds.” A small giggle would escape the young woman’s lips as she glanced toward the rest; “It’s also a pleasure to meet you all.” She would announce carefully, “Miki.” She would offer her name towards the other female as she found herself listening to the old monk; nodding as she took the instructions and followed the direction of the monk; as well as what Morio had said; ‘Meet at the stairs once more – if you are all here then that means you are here for the other missions – don’t get taken by any spirits.’ Miki couldn’t help but giggle softly under her breath as she stretched softly before nodding; going off in her own direction to work; she found herself quietly cleaning, respectfully silent with her surroundings being a shrine; she would softly sweep around the shrine.

A soft humming would come from the woman as she worked, pacing herself to ensure that every part of the floor had been swept carefully, cleaning up all the dirt, dust, and debris… From there she would grab herself a bucket and a mop to wash and cleanse the floors; the work was something she had become use to; regardless of how she dressed or acted; or her status and standing within her own clan… Considering that she was very well perhaps the only one left alive within her clan… She came to have to work in brothels throughout her life; starting off as just a cleaner, moving to get to a point where she would be able to handle the everyday type of business in running a brothel until the tragedy struck and it burned down; leaving not only herself but the majority of the other girls without work or a home. Miki had been lucky enough to have had money saved and was able to get herself into one of the local inns but knowing without preforming missions she wouldn’t be able to continue her lifestyle.

As she continued to work; humming she would hear a small whimper in the background; something that caught her attention if only for a moment as she glanced to see what was making the sound; only to see a young girl, her long brown hair and bright green eyes, very similar to Miki’s own… Almost causing a soft shock as their eyes caught; “Oh… Hello little miss…” Miki would smile, bending down into a squatting position to become eye level with the young girl; “Are you here by yourself?” The young girl would continue to lock eyes with Miki walking closer and slowly to Miki as the girl would raise her hands to touch Miki’s face; Miki would stumble backwards, falling on her bottom as she starred in shock as the light from the doorway would cause the young girl to become slightly opaque, Miki found herself starring in horror at the girl, finally noticing the more defined feature of the spirit that stood before her, the tattoos lined along her tiny arms, almost deathly similar to the own tattoos Miki knew her clan could create… “W…Who are you?!” Miki would question sternly, but softly at the same time as to not spook anyone who could be within ear reach of her.

The girl frowned by Miki’s actions, moving closer with a speed that Miki hadn’t seen before; with a single blink of her eyes the young girl was now touching Miki’s face; displaying images before the womans’ eyes… It seemed like they were images of the past, things that had happened… Some of these were rather shocking, other things were events that Miki had already known to have taken place. But some of the things that were being shown… Were intimate details regarding Miki’s own life that no one should have had information about let alone a spirit within the shrines of Hoshigakure… Miki could only sit frozen in fear as the images continued to flood her mind; showing her the secrets of her clan along with the secrets of her own family… “I… I don’t understand… H…W…What are you?” Miki spoke as the images finally came to a stop; the young girl standing before her once again.

The girl smiled, placing her hand on Miki’s chest, exactly where her heart would be located, along with placing her hand on her own chest, where her heart would be.

Miki starred for a few moments, as she felt the warmth and familiarity within the girls touch… A small gasp; as Miki finally came to the realization of who was standing before her… As Miki went to raise her eyes to the little girls face; the girl would no longer be there… Confused by the entire situation; and wanting to get out of the shrines as quickly as possible, Miki would finish her duties quickly and head back towards the stairs, only to see the companions that were there before were there once again; a small smirk… Turned out they would be in with each other for the rest of the missions today.

Miki sighed as she would follow the group out of the mountains and towards the villages gate; their next mission was set to find relics of some kind, she agreed simply because of the reward of the mission… She knew that the money was more than welcomed at the end of the day and she needed the money more than she wanted or needed the glory. As they would find the ruins; Miki took note of the torches that were already lit… Almost as if someone had already been there, or was currently there… A sense of unease fell within Miki’s stomach; times like this she certainly wished she had a teacher… Her lack of ability as a shinobi of the village would be well known should they have to enter conflict. She didn’t keep her eyes off of Morio as they walked along until they reached a large corridor that would split off into four equal routes; for some reason this made her even more uncomfortable than any of the previous warning signs that these genin shouldn’t be here at all…

I don’t know if I like splitting up… But if we must, we must… Just promise if someone yells… You’ll come quickly.” She muttered before heading down the second path, as the other boy; Crom took the first. “Good luck everyone.” Miki would mutter before completely becoming engulfed in her path. “Fifteen minutes…” Miki would whisper to herself as she walked slowly and cautiously; taking small but deep breaths as she tried to focus her eyes on the tunnel she felt she was in… Something about this didn’t seem right to her… It felt wrong, unnatural even… The lighting became dim and almost completely dissipated moments before she found herself smacking into a door.

Ouch!” Miki groaned, rubbing her nose softly as she fumbled around for the handle, a few seconds that felt like hours before her hand would come to grasp the round nob; giving it a quick twist she would open the door entering a medium sized room, maybe twenty five by twenty five; painted with gold trimming and delicate outlines of strange creatures and shapes unfamiliar to her. However, for the most part; the room was empty, save for a single pillar, with nothing on top of it… A small frown would cross her face as she moved around the room carefully… What a strange place it was; the creatures and shapes seemed to move along with her as she moved around the room… Her emerald eyes watching closely as she made her way for the door, her fifteen minutes were nearly up and she was coming out empty handed. Maybe one of the others found something. As Miki came back to the group; being one of the last to return, would make note that she found nothing save for the strange room and dancing symbols that would surely make her sound crazy.

But with quick work, it would seem that Morio was the lucky winner; having found the relic; and with that they would begin their treck for flowers. As Morio made sure to mention their need to be very careful; and make quick work and not to leave evidence as to where these flowers were located, they would be finished, get their rewards and be able to be finished for the day… At least for the others, but Miki had other plans as she fully intended to reap her rewards within one of the many night clubs that Hoshigakure held within it’s red light district. On top of partying, she was also learning and gaining information as to where would be the best spot to open up shop… Her intentions to create her own brothel were all the more real the closer they got to finishing the mission.

Their next location would be the longest of them all, along paths of danger and woe; an entire two hours of their lives removed to go and pick some silly roses… She did take note of the route change, as she remembered the map and the path they were suppose to be using; but opted to continue following Morio as it seemed as if he knew what he was doing at the very least; with the simplicity of the situation; the woman would keep herself close to the armor and sword cadded boy. After around two hours of walking, they would find themselves in the area of the rose; the overgrowth and untouched plant life grew into a thing of beauty… It was something that Miki had never seen before, let alone be able to experience in such a way… The beauty was unnerving at the least. As Miki would move carefully along; making sure not to disturb the plant life; she would grab her own note book, taking down detailed notes of how the condition of the plant life was; along with what all was growing there. Although Miki didn’t know the name of each plant of creature living within the lush overgrowth, she was able to carefully draw pictures of each one, making sure to make notes of their colors; shades and other small details that a physical picture or drawing would miss. Her own artistry was something that she practiced every day, painting and drawing were not only a hobby to her, but rather a passion. It would only be Morio’s voice what would cause her to realize how much time had passed, “This place is truly something spectacular… I certainly wish to return here someday with my easel and paints… Capture the entire beauty of this area… It would be something else.” She would state. As she watched the man enter deeper within the preserve, she would reluctantly follow; having very little clothes on helped with maneuvering around the thorns and other things she wished not touch. Just behind him but not completely following him in; as she gave a small gasp; looking out on a beauty grove with all kinds of rare plant life and fauna that she hadn’t ever laid her eyes on before… It was something of true beauty… She was certain that she would return here once again… She had to; there was just so much she could paint and record onto. As Miki went back through to return before Morio would; she would find herself staring at her very own sample, as she nearly came face first with the ground; taking her own sample carefully and placing it away for safe keeping; she would return to the ground and wait for Morio.

Once they were all together and returned to the village; Miki would hand in her portion for the missions, take her rewards; “Have a good night!” She would mutter out towards everyone and head off to prepare herself for tonights activities.
