It was raining. Kana never really liked the rain due to her past as nothing more than a young struggling street rat, when it began to rain it meant that she had to hurry back to wherever she had set up camp to save whatever belongs she could by taking them off the ground and hiding them somewhere that would keep it off the ground and underneath some shelter if she could manage that. More times than not, she couldn't find proper shelter for her belongings and resorted to picking and choosing what could be replaced and provide the most shelter for the more important items, cardboard boxes that she had once used to shield her from the wind would be allowed to soak and become worthless to keep whatever clothing she had warm so she could change out of her soaking clothing before bed and hopefully her untouched clothing would be enough to keep her warm and prevent death from exposure, a genuine fear that she had.
Despite the fact that Kana was a full on kunoichi who was more than capable of dressing warmly thanks to her stipend from the village, alongside having her own little apartment where she could just hide away from the storms to stay warm and comfortable, Kana still couldn't get over her own dislike of rain. Old habits died hard and Kana vastly preferred to stay away from water whenever possible, yet that wasn't quite an option for today as she felt the need to do a mission that was more mundane in nature compared to the whole ongoing dreaming crisis, she needed a way to simply forget about that entire mess for the time being lest she stresses over it and causes nightmares to appear and so she picked the first D Rank she could find, something about a family refusing to pay rent and the landlord deciding to hire a shinobi to evict the family from their home.
Kana knew why that mission wasn't taken just yet, while a few shinobi would honestly rather focus on the dreaming becoming reality thing, there were others who simply wouldn't want to evict some poor family out of their only home, something that even made Kana a bit uncomfortable with but if it was going to be someone, it might as well be her since the family would be less likely to scream about it being unfair. The fact that they even had a home in the first place was something to be treasured and with their refusal to pay, they would learn to value their next home even more, she was certain there would be options for them to get back on their feet, it wouldn't do for a village to have an entire homeless family wandering the streets after all. Kana was just unlucky to have been an orphan, nobody truly cared about them, they'd pity the lone child and give some ryo to feel better about themselves but if that child went missing? They'd convince themselves that they somehow found their parents and went off to a nice big warm farm somewhere out of the village.
The house she was sent to was modest in size, a single story house with a small back garden as far she could tell, maybe two or three bedrooms as far as she could tell just from blindly guessing but she didn't exactly have a lot of reference points to guess accurately what the interior would look like, the only true house she had stayed at was Gunshin's house. Kana knocked at the front door, preparing herself to listen to some sob story about why they couldn't afford the rent or how they'd pay later and just needed more time or whatever else the family would decide to try and spin into staying here just that little bit longer, Kana had seen desperate people before and how they'd beg, she had once been of the same, sprouting some nonsense about losing her papa in a bandit attack or how her mama needed some medicine. It wasn't her proudest moments but when faced with starvation, people tended to do a lot of things they wouldn't be proud of.
"Hi, my name's Kana and I'm kunoichi from the village. I'm afraid you and your family have missed too many payments and as such, I'll be escorting you out from your home. You may collect whatever possessions you wish, the rest of your belongings will be stored a storage room near the village center." Kana introduced herself calmly, looking up at the confused man who for a moment seemed insulted and confused as he listened to what Kana had to say, clearly not liking what he was hearing. "Now hold on missy, I'm not just going to let some child come kick me out of my house. Where's your guardian?" The man explained which only caused Kana to roll her eyes, she knew she was young and it must've been rather embarrassing to be evicted by a young girl like herself but she didn't really care about this right now. "Sir, I'm authorized to use force if necessary. You may direct any complaints toward the village center after you've evacuated the premises. For your child's sake, I'd suggest you begin packing now." Her words were still calm but her eyes had narrowed, warning him to not press her any further and for a moment it seemed like he was going to argue some more but eventually decided to settle on just starting to pack up, letting Kana step inside to merely wait and watch, the man's child seemed confused and asked his father what was happening or where they were going but Kana tuned most of that conversation out, she didn't want to know any of the details, the man would find a way to support his kid somehow, Kana had managed to live as a street rat for as long as she could remember, the man could handle a few days without a home, if even that, he undoubtedly had friends and family, alongside some ryo for a hotel if he was truly without a support system.
"Thank you for your cooperation." Kana would add as the father and son passed by her, the father grumbling to himself and clearly pissed but deciding it wouldn't be a good example to try and attack a child around the same age of his own son nor would it would be smart to attack a kunoichi, even if he had proved somehow stronger, the whole village would have his head for daring to attack a little girl trying to do her job.
