Apparently it was the father of the family's pet from when he was a young boy and had a wonderful time adventuring with the once retired 'adventurer' as he put it in the application for this mission. - ambiance sound:
The walk was long and harduous, with the serpentine stone and pebble path twisting and twirling into the mountain range of Mountain Country. After walking for a few days toward the village atop a mountain to make a few ryo before traveling to Haven, Yume and Shisou arrived at the late evening to the hamlet, a small but colorfull traditionnal village perched high in the mountain, like a falcon nest. As they saw the lights in the distance through the penumbra of the night and the curent storm, they were both exhausted, stumbling more than walking. The tempest had been at it for hours on end, if not a couple of days. The wind was cold, the moutain fresh air turned sharp and freezing against the exposed skin of the two wandering woman, cutting into their flesh and warmth like a hot knife through butter. Beside the gust and gale constant and freezing, the water was worse. Torrents of large and numerous drops of watter pumelling strongly from the sky, and caught up so hard and fast into the winds that it seemed like it rained horizontally. As they were chopped up by the freezing air and hammered down by the blunts hard drops of water, the girls were shivering, pressing their footsteps to get sooner to the village they so wished to reach to warm and rest themselves. But high like that in the mountain, wind and rain isnt the only challenge. As the hid in a small shrine made of stone, a enormous hail storm arrived, the water beeing too cold up there and freezing solid before falling. The village and the road was peppered with icy projectiles, tearing up flags, paper lanterns and rooftops alike in the old wooden buildings of the village. The road itself was made icy and bumpy from all the ice that fell, but the real scary part was the thunders and lightning that fell nearby. Per chance, the village had a few stell rod to prevent any damages, but it was still scary being in the highest place available for lightning to strike, all in the middle of a large rain and hail and rain storm, in the pitch black darness of the night.
After it calmed a bit, both girl kept on walking, finally making it into the first large household on the edge of the village, entering their roofed courtyard to at least use it as a shelter.
''I-i-i-i'm going t-t-to knock o-o-on the d-d-door to s-s-see if we c-c-can enter, o-o-okay? Hold o-o-on!'' said Yume while shivering, as she ran under the rain to go knock.
toc toc toc.... No answer. Only the sound of the pourring rain.
TOC TOC TOC. knocked heavier Yume.
''Who is there?'' yelled an old man.
''My name is Yume, me and my friend here are in dire need of rest and warmth, please let us in! I see all the water pouring from the roof in to your the left wing of your house! Let us in and we can fix the roof for you please!'' Urged Yume to the man, pointing to the damaged rooftop, visibly pierced and with water cascading into it.
''Come in fast then, the hole need to be fixed immediately!'' said the old grandpa, stressed and with a feel of urgency. As he slowly walked toward the inside leaving the door open, Yume rushed inside, leaving the oppening for Shishou to gome to her too with the door still open, and would close it behind her.
The warmth of the inside was immediately conforting as they entered, but Yume didnt stopped to bask in it, and rushed inside toward the leak in the roof, where there was an apparent hole into the roofing. Underneath was a large puddle of cold water, with trickling water constantly walling into it, the buckets placed to collect the leak being filled to the brim. Yume quickly analysed the situation, and had an idea. In her traveling gear, she always had a blanket to sit uppon and paint.
''Shisou, I'll climb by the hole onto the roof, and once on top of it, i'll put my blanket over the hole. While i do that, you must shortly find a way to put something like a plank to support the wet and heavy blanket. It will fix temporarily the hole and leave us with the time to nail more plank without sealing some water into the roof itself. Quick, give me a hand to climb and a leg up so i can latch onto the roofing and get on top! at 3 okay ? one, two, three!'' Said the girl, preparing the plan to quickly act in the middle of this emergency. While she layed the blanket on top of the water to make an impermeable spot, making the water slide of the cloth instead of into the house, Shisou did her job in the inside. After almost an hour of repairing the roof under the clod rain, Yume jumped off back toward the entrance, entering once again after the hole was patched.
''Thanks a lot to you two young ones. I dont have the fire in me anymore to do these things... It would have been the end of me and my poor wife. Please, go by the fire, warm yourselves up! I will prepare you a dry and warm tatami for the night by the fireplace, and my wife will serve you some hot tea and a chicken broth noodle soup. Its the best for cold evening or deep winter hehehe!'' said the old man, bowing to them for their help to the best of his abilities, and getting upstairs to find them suitable sleeping wares and mats.

As Ren Kurosawa bid farewell to the caravan he had recently escorted safely into the town, a sudden change in the weather cast a dramatic shift in the atmosphere. The sky, previously clear and serene, darkened ominously, and the first raindrops began to fall, heralding the arrival of a fierce storm.
The departing caravan members exchanged grateful nods and words of thanks with Ren, their expressions reflecting their relief and appreciation for his assistance. They knew that he had played a pivotal role in ensuring their safe passage through the perilous mountain pass.
However, as Ren turned away from the caravan and stepped out onto the street, he was met with a sudden deluge of rain. The torrential downpour began without warning, drenching him and the town in a relentless cascade of water.
Raindrops fell like silver spears from the heavens, creating a mesmerizing curtain that obscured the world beyond. The sound of the rain was a rhythmic drumbeat that echoed through the streets, and the glistening wet cobblestones reflected the muted glow of lanterns, adding a touch of magic to the scene.
Undeterred by the sudden storm, Ren continued to walk through the streets, his steps accompanied by the melodic patter of raindrops on rooftops and leaves. His attire became soaked, and rivulets of water ran down his face and neck, but his spirit remained undaunted.
The storm, with its raw power and unpredictable nature, was a reminder of the unpredictability of life itself—the twists and turns, the challenges, and the moments of unexpected beauty. It was a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the wanderer's enduring quest for new experiences and adventures, even in the face of adversity.
Ren's journey continued, rain-soaked but determined, as he moved forward through the storm, ready to face whatever mysteries and stories lay ahead on his winding path as a wandering minstrel.
As Ren walked through the rain-soaked streets of the town, his gaze was drawn to a peculiar sight. Climbing up the side of a building, with the grace of a seasoned ninja and an air of determination, was a woman slightly older than Ren himself. Her lilac-colored hair contrasted starkly with the wet, gray backdrop of the storm.
One of the most striking features about the woman was the bandage that covered one of her eyes. The mysterious aura surrounding her piqued Ren's curiosity, and he couldn't help but wonder about her story and the purpose of her ascent.
Approaching the building with a hole in its roof, Ren decided to address the enigmatic woman. His voice, carrying above the sound of the falling rain, rang out gently, "Excuse me, miss. Is there something I can assist you with up there?"
Ren's demeanor was as gentle as ever, and his words held a genuine curiosity, tinged with concern for the woman's safety. The rain continued to pour down, adding a sense of drama to the encounter as the two strangers stood on opposite sides of the mysterious climb.

Before she could go inside the house, Yume heard a voice hailing at her trough the rain. As the voice sounded familiar, she turned around, trying to see trough the rain if it was someone she knew. It was a tall man asking if she needed help, and has she got down from the roof, Shisou immediately running back inside, Yume finally clicked who he was! It was none other than Ren, the man and artist she had met prior in the region! What a marvelous coincidence!
''OH! Ren! I'm really happy to see you here! how about we go inside to talk? ITS TOO LOUD I CANT HEAR ANYTHING!'' Said loudly the purple haired lady, soaked to the bone. As both went inside, and the old man thanked the two girl, Yume looked at the old man, who was frowning for having yet another guest, one that didnt help with the roof even. To ease the tension, Yume grabed his arm in a quick motion, cuddling him like he was her husband to silence the suspicions of the old proprietor. As he left and didnt ask any question, the one eyed girl released the arm of Ren, leaving a small silence.
''So humm.. Yeah ahah! I was fixing the roof in exchange for a dry place to rest and warm food. You are more than welcome to spend the night if you dont mind sharing! Tomorrow you can even join us to do missions if you'd like! It seems the old couple here need quite a lot of help, and folks in town too!'' Said Yume to Ren. She wasnt flirting with him, but as friends and as a generous person, she wanted him to be abble to sleep too in a dry place, warm and safe. After all, she knew the life on the roads and as a vagabond, homeless and wandering was harsh. Yume was waiting to see if he accepted, and if he didnt she would offer him the bed and sleep on the floor.

Ren took a moment; then he realized who he was speaking to. "Yume! Such a beautiful spirit and soul doing work in this type of storm? I applaud the work you're doing. Yes, let's go inside; I believe there is much we can discuss for the future!" He follows her into the house, where she explains their situation, exchanging manual labor for a place to stay for the night. "I would say that that is a beautiful exchange indeed. I would love to stay with you all for the night, thank you. In the meantime." He looked up to the hole in the roof that was still dripping in water. He weaved a few hand seals and unleashed a current of this sticky substance that somewhat resembled syrup but was more like glue. He aimed this current for the hole in the roof, and the leaks seemed to cease. "Ahh, there we are. Now, how about a fire? We can share stories and legends! I can sing a song or two. Where are our hosts?! They shall be included in this."
Ren pulls out his stringed instrument and begins tuning it for the night's festivities. "A night among the most beautiful of souls is a perfect way to spend one's life, I can assure you." He would sit down next to whatever fire may be going at the time and await the festivities to be started by his hosts, guests, or both!

Walking through a mountain range, the two traveled side by side, their steps intertwined, the rain was pattering day in and day out, the weather being quite strenuous. Shisou followed the path laid out for her by her compatriot Yume for the first time in a very long time not being alone, not that the path wasn’t dangerous at all. Throughout the time traveling the weather seemed to get worse, the worst of it coming when they reached upward elevation in the journey up a mountain trail to a village atop the mountain, despite the exhaustion and time spent Shisou quite enjoyed the journey and the connection that was made along the way.
Entering the village she heard the sound of the thunder being quite close and the feeling of the cold on her shoulder, however more intensified was the shivering of her compatriot on her shoulder, she felt the pressure life from her shoulder, hearing the steps rapidly moving away she followed a bit behind hearing Yume talk about knocking on the door, “Be safe over there, if they try anything simply call for me, I’ll head towards your voice.” Waiting a bit the knocking of Yume intensified; she seemed to have gotten hold of an older couple, following the sound of the voice she ended up by the entrance of the doorway where Yume stands who seems to be promising to fix the roof. She was then told by Yume to go to find a plank or something to temporarily hold up the blanket, Shisou would then lend a hand utilizing some strength to push Yume’s weight up onto the roof she would then head inside following Yume’s voice to the interior.
Going to stabilize the weight of the blanket being put on the roof, Shisou would feel the floor around her feeling around on the floor, the planking of the floor being a bit loose in one specific area, “This should work for now, just gotta support it with my blade.” weighing the plank in her hand she would then orient it upwards towards the ceiling getting enough planking to get up to the ceiling, and taking the sword out of its sheath on her side, she leaned the blade side into the wood temporarily supporting the interior.
The interior now being supported, Shisou would inform Yume raising her voice to be heard above the noise of the hail and thunder outside, “The inside is now supported, you can come down now!” time would flow a bit and she would grow concerned over the silence till the intervening of a voice Shisou hadn’t heard before was entering the fray, they seemed to know Yume in some way. The man entered the house and from the sound and feeling of things seemed to fix the roof, so Shisou took her sword and replaced and put back the planks she had gathered from before. The two seemed to talk for quite a while and Shisou sat there kind of silently monitoring the sounds of her surroundings from outside now muffled as she focused internally until her thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of yet another person entering she would reach towards the collar of her katana sheath waiting to hear Yume’s response.

Re: Lost and Blind: a big day in Kagerō Village
Thu Jan 25, 2024 12:49 pm
Inside the cozy cabin, Ren found himself in the company of a few other fellow shinobi, all seeking refuge from a raging storm that raged outside. The flickering glow of a lantern provided a warm and inviting ambiance as the sound of raindrops drummed against the cabin's windows.
As the night stretched on, Ren, known for his passion for music and storytelling, took it upon himself to keep everyone entertained. He sat cross-legged on the cabin's wooden floor, his trusty musical instrument by his side. With a smile, he strummed a few chords, setting the tone for an evening of shared melodies and tales.
The flickering lantern light cast dancing shadows on the wooden walls, adding to the ambiance as Ren's nimble fingers danced across the strings of his instrument. The first notes of a melodic tune filled the room, resonating with a soothing and captivating quality.
His fellow shinobi gathered around, their expressions a mix of anticipation and appreciation, or at least that is what Ren perceived. Some maybe have heard Ren's music before if they had traveled the same circuits as himself, but if they hadn't then they were in for a treat. With each note he played, Ren would attempt to transport his audience to distant lands, evoking the essence of his travels and experiences.
Between songs, Ren shared stories of his adventures, weaving tales of encounters with other cultures, the beauty of nature, and the warmth of human connections forged on his journey. His storytelling transported his listeners to far-off places, sparking their imaginations and kindling a sense of camaraderie among the group.
The night wore on, but inside the cabin, time seemed to stand still as the storm raged outside. Ren's music and stories provided a welcome escape, a momentary respite from the challenges of their shinobi lives. The cabin was filled with laughter, shared moments, and the harmony of music that bound the group together.
As the storm's fury gradually subsided, Ren's melodies and stories continued, creating a lasting memory of a night spent in the company of kindred spirits, finding solace and joy in the simple pleasures of music, storytelling, and the enduring bonds of friendship. "There was a story that I had heard while in the land of Fire, I feel that it would be a great tale for the night! I hope you enjoy it." He then continued with his story.
"Once upon a time, in a distant land known as the Land of the Eternal Flame, there lived a young woman named Hikari. Hikari possessed a unique gift that set her apart from the rest of her village—she had the power to control fire. From a young age, she had learned to wield this gift with grace and responsibility.
"In the Land of the Eternal Flame, fire was both revered and feared. It was the source of warmth and light, but it could also bring destruction if not handled with care. Hikari's village relied on the eternal flames that burned at the heart of their sacred mountain for survival. These flames provided heat, cooked their food, and offered protection from the frigid nights.
"But one fateful day, disaster struck. A powerful earthquake rocked the land, causing the sacred mountain to crumble, extinguishing the eternal flames. Panic and despair gripped the villagers as they faced the harsh reality of their situation.
"Hikari, however, refused to give in to despair. She knew that deep within her, the power of fire still burned bright. With determination in her heart, she embarked on a perilous journey to the heart of the land, where legends spoke of a hidden source of fire said to be even more powerful than the eternal flames.
"Her journey was fraught with challenges and danger. She faced treacherous terrain, fierce creatures, and encountered other gifted individuals along the way. With each trial, Hikari's mastery of her fire-controlling abilities grew stronger.
"As she neared her destination, she discovered the hidden source of fire—a massive, ancient phoenix, said to be the guardian of the land's flame. The phoenix, named Kagayaku, recognized the purity of Hikari's heart and granted her the power to rekindle the eternal flames.
"Returning to her village, Hikari faced her greatest test yet. She stood before the extinguished flames of the sacred mountain, channeling the power bestowed upon her by Kagayaku. With unwavering determination, she ignited a blaze so brilliant and powerful that it surpassed the eternal flames of old, filling her village with warmth, light, and hope once more.
"The Land of the Eternal Flame was forever changed by Hikari's courage and the power of her heart. Her tale serves as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, the strength of one's spirit can reignite the flames of hope and bring light to the lives of many."
Ren concluded his story, his fingers resting on the strings of his instrument, allowing the echoes of his words to linger in the cabin's warm and intimate atmosphere. His fellow shinobi listened in rapt attention, inspired by the tale and the enduring message it carried.
With the tale of Hikari still lingering in the air, Ren shifted seamlessly into a heartfelt melody. His fingers danced across the strings of his instrument as he began to sing a song about a woman named Mei, capturing the essence of their encounter beneath a cherry blossom tree in a small town a few weeks ago:
"Beneath the cherry blossoms, in a town so small and sweet,
I met a gentle soul, my heart would soon entreat.
Her raven hair like midnight, her eyes a shade of blue,
Mei was her name, and her spirit pure and true.
"Oh, Mei, under the cherry tree,
Where your violin sang, and your heart set me free,
We danced to the music, under the sky so clear,
And in that moment, love drew near.
"Her violin's sweet melodies, like whispers in the breeze,
With every note she played, my heart found perfect ease.
We shared a meal together, the taste of joy so sweet,
And as the sun descended, our souls began to meet.
"Oh, Mei, under the cherry tree,
Where your violin sang, and your heart set me free,
We danced to the music, under the sky so clear,
And in that moment, love drew near.
"The moon ascended high above, our feelings intertwined,
In the tender moonlight, our hearts began to bind.
A kiss beneath the blossoms, a promise in the night,
Mei and I together, our spirits taking flight.
"Oh, Mei, under the cherry tree,
Where your violin sang, and your heart set me free,
We danced to the music, under the sky so clear,
And in that moment, love drew near."
As Ren's voice filled the cabin, his melody wove a vivid tapestry of the cherished day he had spent with Mei. The beauty of their connection, the music, the food, and the shared kiss came to life in his song, creating a poignant and timeless memory for all who listened.
"Anyway. I think that is enough from me. How about we all go get some sleep and spend the next day traveling through the world and readying ourselves for our next adventure? Good night, you all." He would then curl into his bedroll and sleep through the night.
As he awoke, he saw that everyone else was still sleeping. He gathered his things in a rather quick fashion, but staying as quiet as possible, then he would leave swiftly, heading on for his next adventure.

"Oh, Mei, under the cherry tree,
Where your violin sang, and your heart set me free,

as Shisou seemed to be on edge with all the new people entering the space with her not seeing anything after the large storm and the fixing of the roof, Yume reassured her by putting a hand on her shoulder, and another on the blunt edge of her katana, lowering it slowly.
''Shhhh Shisou my dear, no need to fear those people! They are acquaintances of mine. I met them on the way here, while around our rest at the inn. You didnt meet them is all. Here is Ren, a travelling artist like me, and Yoto, a maker of puppets and weapons, if my memory serves me right.'' said calmly the purple haired woman.
The night was getting late, but slumber was still not foreseable. Yume wanted to travel, and she established that beforehand with the other two man who joined. In the end, their plan to stay long in this village and help the people would have to be scrapped away, as the danger of the pursuing people Yume had after her was imminent. They would at least enjoy the hospitality from this evening, as the man hosting the small group was kind enough to provide shelter to them in exchange of the repaired rooftop.
As Yume listened to Ren story passionately, she really connected with the hiden meanning, the goal to never abandon and drop hope, and to try and stay positive in the world, to spread joy by good deeds and generosity. Yume felt it connected a lot trough her, and she too wanted to share a story. As she waited afterwards, Ren doing another performance, this time a song, Yume tough of how she wanted to tell the story.
''Hey ... humm i'd like to tell a story too if you wouldnt mind.'' said gently and full of shyness Yume.
''There once was a lord, a powerfull daimyo of a faraway land, who reached the peaks of the mountains of Heaven, and met an old white dragon atop the mountain, renowned across the world for his wisdom and celestial knowledge, as well as his power to bestow unique gifts to the people who reached his eternal resting place.
As he reached the ancestral dragon and asked him for the gift to turn things to gold with his touch, the celestial wyrm indulged him, giving him one of his feather. Upon touching it, the lord turned it into pure shining gold, amazed and totally struck by his new ability.
Now returned into his domain, the kind turned everything inside his palace into gold. Meanwhile, the daughter of the lord implored him to help his own people with his power, to share his power. but the daimyo had changed, his mentality tought only of riches and gold. As he went to help his people, he touched the rice fields, transforming in an instant all the grains of rices into gold coins, filling the marshes with hundred of thousands of gold.
All the people rejoiced at first, falling for the same golden sickness of the lord. The domain of the lord is said to have not survived the following year, as the people starved. All of the rices gold eventually sunk into the ground, becoming the veins of gold now spread around our world, and there is the legend of a place, a place made out of gold, where a sad statue of a father, and her daughter turned to gold, rest for eternity.'' said the purple hair one eyed woman, her tone calm and humble, in hope that people understood the lesson about greed.
As the purple haired woman finished her story, shy a bit because it wasnt as good as Ren, she waited on answers and replies from others, and listened to anything they had to say before she decided to sleep on this, not waiting for any comment from others.
In the following morning, she would wake up the others, and pack her things to leave with the others to new horizons.

Shisou was unsure about everything still gripping her katana until Yume reassured her in response Shisou sighed and lowered her blade,
“Very well, I understand you all are acquaintances of hers, hello.” Following this some lengthy story telling was done by both Yume and Ren, Shisou didn’t really get most of it and so she just settled on her back laying down with her sword on her side. Sleeping for quite a bit but staying in a state where her senses were still aware she dreamt of memories of the past. Waking up in a bit of a start she got up and readied herself for the day before thinking more about the coming dangers and the people after her and that would now be after Yume as well she started packing up and told Yume they needed to head off, so she walked the distance with them all into the unknown making sure to stay close to Yume for support and as a way of backup.
