Training Shadow Clone Jutsu

Another day, another training session. Hiroma Senju had proven himself to be quite diligent in the past few days. He pushed himself to learn at least one jutsu in what he considers to be major categories for what he will do with his ninja career. He learned bodily restoration and healing hands, both of which he would consider fundamentals of the medical ninja specialization. He also learned great fireball technique, which is steep for a first jutsu but he wanted to test his talent in the field. Sure he ended up burning himself but the experience he built up with medical jutsu helped him out in the end.

Today his goals are much more different. He was going to learn a semi-high-rank generic jutsu known as the shadow clone, a name familiar to all those who consider themselves shinobi. Shinobi will learn about their clone technique in the academy, regardless of village. While the clone technique creates a copy of the user, the clone itself won't have any substance, it is purely a projection of the user and it cannot do anything aside from look like them. Any decent ninja can tell the difference between a normal clone and the user. Clones cannot interact with the environment, so small things like the clones possessing no shadow, and grass not compressing when they step on it. These small details take a trained eye to notice, giving clans with dojutsu an edge, but with enough experience, any decent shinobi should easily be able to tell the difference.

Shadow clone is much different on a shallow and deep level. Not only do the clones possess substance and tangibility. Meaning they are capable of hurting the opponent and interacting with the environment. On top of the physical substance, they also gain mental and emotional substance. They possess their own will and can act independently from the user, normally this would make it easier to tell the difference but the shadow clones possess something else the normal clones do not. They are created with the user's memories and skills, along with their own physical strength, speed, and chakra control. Even to a user of a vision-enhancing dojutsu, it might be difficult to spot the difference if they don't pay attention, at least a little bit. That is why most ninjas much prefer the shadow clone technique to the normal technique despite the learning curve that it possesses. Even looking at the ranks, with the normal clone technique being listed at E. The shadow clone technique is at a significantly more potent and hard-to-learn place at the rank of B. The gap between an E and B rank jutsu was so high that one could be learned by a ninja in training while the other requires someone to at least be a genin to even attempt.

In order to train this jutsu, Hiroma had to read up a bit. For the other jutsu, that stuff was naturally in the Senju clan libraries and was quite easy for him to access, with permission of course. From his reading in the past few days, he realized the Senju clan was more deeply intertwined in healing chakra than he imagined. For fire release jutsu it was expected to be found within the Senju gallery. In fact all ninjutsu outside of maybe S-Rank or forbidden jutsu could be found in it. This was also in the realm of expectation as the Senju Clan's specialty was always ninjutsu after all. On the other hand, medical jutsu was heavily expanded upon within the pages as well. Hashirama Senju was a renowned ninjutsu master of wood release and all ninjutsu, but he was possibly an even better medical ninja. He would heal so fast from his injuries that he almost seemed immortal, all the while dealing damage to his opponents that would leave them throwing their hands up. As much as he'd like to admit it was something else that motivated him, stories of their clan's greatest ninja are what influenced him to learn medical ninjutsu and dedicate himself to training so much.

As he read the scrolls and books he began to understand how this is not something that could just be explained in a classroom like the normal clone technique. He was also realising how boring it is to read about a non-medical jutsu. He was starting to worry that maybe he enjoyed medical ninja work more than increasing his firepower, but he realized it was simply because with ninjutsu the focus is more theoretical while medial jutsu has particular and pragmatic approaches to it. For instance, for a medical jutsu, someone can describe how they process the chakra from their brains to their nerves, to outside their bodies, and if the situation calls for it, to the body of their patient. This explanation can be implemented by the same one hundred medical-nin and it will mostly be effective for all of them, with only slight fluctuations. Whereas with ninjutsu, one needs to carefully consider their own nature, talent, hand seal efficiency, and everything in between in order to produce it. Hell, most ninjas don't even use the same visual imagery when manifesting their jutsu. And from chakra natures to clan traditions, no two ninjas will ever be the same.

He took the books with him to the training grounds to test if it would be easy for him to master the jutsu before the day's end. He laid out the across and books in a way he could view them all at once. He performed the handseals in succession, tiger - horse - ram. Now to add his own seal at the end. He chose a simple joining of his thumb and index finger. After similarly moving his chakra to how he does the clone technique he releases the jutsu, infusing it with far more chakra and following the instructions he was given. In a poof behind me, he spots a replica of himself. He approaches it and put's his hand up. With no further communication, the clone high-fives him. He can feel it. The clone also begins talking.

"You got it on the first try, but don't get too cocky. There's still way more for us to do. Call on me whenever you need an extra hand, peace." The clone vanishes in a poof and Hiroma was left here dumbfounded. He knew the clone was going to say all of that, but he was still slightly ticked off at the  full interaction as a whole. It went pretty much as well as he expected but....

"I don't talk like that," Hiroma said with a slight grumble.
