A Quick Lesson Before Breakfast

Isamu had taken a liking to The Shinoda Springs, especially after his lesson with the General Azuki. The Wannabe Samurai found himself frequenting the location, going there to train and hone his skills. He found that his skill with the blade had improved greatly over the past few months, he wasn't sure if he could call himself a swordsman yet but he hoped to one day be able to prove himself one.

Normally the Aspiring Swordsman trained alone but today his sister accompanied him. The two had to put on a sort of act in public, their creator having instructed them to not make their artificial nature to apparent. Thus the two had come to the conclusion that they had to act as if they were a father and daughter, as they doubted most would believe a middle aged man and a teenager were siblings. Isamu waited by the river for Hasu to arrive, dressed in his typical Samurai Armor. Upon seeing her he'd smile from beneath his helm and greet her, "Glad to see you made it Hasumi. Are you ready to learn our clan's bloodline ability? I'm sorry I hadn't taught it to you sooner, but you seem to be ready now."

Trying to keep up appearances as Hasu's father, the middle aged looking man then went on to explain how wood release worked to the girl, doing his best to be quiet enough that onlookers couldn't pry. He wondered if he should teach her a technique or two, but they didn't have much time so he figured he'd leave it at just the element for now. Isamu would watch as Hasumi practiced with the element, doing his best to guide her on combining Earth and Water into Wood. As they practiced he stayed in touch with their creator via telepathy. It seemed that while The Masked Man had forgotten most of the innerworkings of individual techniques he had once used a few in battle.  

Hasumi picked up the element rather quickly, she seemed to have a greater talent for Ninjutsu than Isamu did. Congratulating her, The Wannabe Samurai said they'd eat at Darkside for breakfast and led the girl to her favorite restaurant. As they walked he pondered what clan their creator hailed from, he hadn't heard of anyone else who could manipulate trees.

Hasumi woke up early that day, having recieved mental messages from both her brother and creator. As she groggily sat up in her bed she tried to pay attention as she was informed that it was time she learned of a unique subset of Ninjutsu. The young girl was surprised as she was mentally informed that she apparently possessed a bloodline, one of those rare abilities that some shinobi possessed. She wasn't entirely sure what to make of hers however, she struggled to imagine exactly how wood could be useful in a fight.

Rubbing her eyes the girl groaned and got out of bed, realizing she had to head to the training ground and meet up with Isamu. Under normal circumstances she'd be excited to see her brother, but she would have much preferred if she could have trained later in the morning or even in the afternoon. As much as she wanted to get stronger sometimes she found the whole training thing to be a lot. It was necessary though, so the young kunoichi quickly got herself prepared for the day and then left to meet with her brother. Not having anywhere to store her senbon, she kept them at home while keeping her tanto strapped at her right hip.

It didn't take long for Hasumi to get to Shinoda Springs, she remembered the place quite well despite only having visited it once. The young kunoichi had snuck into the training grounds early into the villages inception and had witnessed a spar between 3 Ronin, one a man that her brother knew as well. While none of the Ronin had threatened her Hasumi had found herself terrified during the encounter, and had avoided the springs since.

The young kunoichi took a deep breath as she stood before the springs, then walked with determination into the training field as she sought out her brother. Thankfully there were few people training at the grounds today, but Hasu realized that she'd still have to pretend Isamu was her father as to not draw much suspicion. Sometimes Hasumi found it unfair that Isamu was treated as the elder just because of their appearances, but in all honesty she didn't envy all the stress he seemed to carry.

"Morning Father, I'm excited. So how does it work?" Hasu hated calling him father, but managed to act the part of the eager to learn daughter well enough.

Hasumi had expected learning an advanced element to be difficult, but for whatever reason she seemed to pick it up rather quickly. It wasn't long after Isamu had explained that the element was composed of Earth and Water that Hasu realized she didn't have any difficulties combining the two Elemental Natures. She half expected her brother to show her some techniques next, or for her creator to reveal some via telepathy, but it seemed this lesson was just to establish the basics of the Wood element.

With the basic lessons out of the way the two siblings decided to go get breakfast, with Isamu offering up Hasumi's favorite restaurant as a suggestion. The young kunoichi accepted the offer immediately, and the two headed off.
