A Mission quota in the Mist
Mon Jul 02, 2012 4:27 am
Find My Dog
It was an unusually cold day in the village hidden in the Mist. The wind had blown all the mist away and the tow seemed naked without it. Dark alleyways were left wide open and shady figures were seen right out in the open. Nietzsche strode through these naked streets towards the mission command. He was off to collect his daily quota of missions. The Mist village was low on ninja and therefore needed all available ones to be on duty and working over time. There had been very few high ranking missions over the past few months so Nietzsche excepted the same, but hoped for better. At this point he had reached the Mission center. Pushing open the door he was swarmed by a group of younger Genin going off to do their missions. He pushed through and finally made it to the Chuunin in charge. “ Hey I am here to pick up my missions for the next few days” The Chuunin smiled and sorted through his files and pulled out a dossier with Nietzsche’s name on it: “Here you go and good luck.” Nietzsche opened the folder and read it over. As he expected it was a bunch of D ranked missions-nothing to get excited about.
The first mission on his plate was one, which entailed helping a dog owner by saving their lost dog from some beast in the woods. Nietzsche made his way out of the village making sure to be on the lookout for the man whose dog he was saving. As Nietzsche exited the village a man ran up to him and started speaking in a very quick and nervous tone: “You! You must be the ninja who is going to help me! My poor dog ran off into the woods and while I was looking for him I heard some animals fighting…OH! I just know my dog is in trouble, please help. “Nietzsche did not know really how to respond so instead he followed the man’s pointing finger into the woods. Before he arrived there eh heard some snarling and barking-there was definitely something going on over there.
Nietzsche began shoving his way through the brush until he reached a clearing. Nietzsche took in the very odd scene before him. There was a small dog-a mutt-and a large pack of what seemed to be giant spiders. The spiders were about twice the size of the dog that looked to be fifteen pounds. Nietzsche quickly body flickered over to the dog and blocked one of the pouncing spiders with his tanto. Up close Nietzsche could see that their fangs were dripping with venom. He then quickly shoved the dog back towards his owner while he himself tuned to face the group of spiders. At this point Nietzsche took time to make a count of how many spiders there were he came out with nine. A group of three spiders came directly at Nietzsche while the other six stayed behind. Nietzsche then released a perfect stream of water bullets, which each hit one of the three charging spiders. The three spiders were thrown back and scampered off into the woods. The rest of the spiders then all charged with their fangs bared. Nietzsche managed to kill off five with his water bullets again, but still one lone spider charged. Thinking quickly Nietzsche drew his tanto and swiftly stabbed the incoming spider. The spider fell dead instantly as it’s small brain was made into a shish kabob. Nietzsche hadn’t even broken a sweat. He then tuned and waltzed out of the woods with dog in hand and retuned it to the owner.
The owner went on and on about how thankful he was, but Nietzsche told him had to go and made a quick escape under the hail of thank yous and praise. And with that he went off back into the village and placed a check mark on his first mission of the day. Next up he had to stop some thief from stealing from the local ramen shop-a true crime if Nietzsche could ever think of one. So off he went to the restaurant district of the Mist; he could tell already it was going to be a busy day. (words: 707)
Stop that Guy
Having just finished saving a dog from the vicious assault of spiders he moved o to his next assignment for the day: stopping a thief who seemed to be stealing from the local ramen shop. Nietzsche read more in to the dossier he was given and found that the thief was using basic jutsus to steal. This was something Nietzsche could not stand for; he strongly disliked when jutsu was misused for petty purposes. As Nietzsche made his way towards the ramen shop he reminisced about his times in the ramen shop. His grandfather had always brought him there after his parents had been killed and he had grown to love and know everyone who worked there; they were like an extended family to him. Nietzsche saw this mission as the perfect opportunity to help pay back the people who helped him through a tough point in his life. So as he approached the small quaint ramen shop he took everything into account; various escape routes and even points where, if he had to, he could fight the intruder and take him out without being seen.
Nietzsche walked into the shop and struck up conversation with the young waitress who was about his age. “So how has business been?” The girls smiled “Oh well you know…” Nietzsche at this moment noticed that this was not the ordinary waitress and looked around for the real one. It was then that it struck him; could this new waitress be the thief he was looking for? Nietzsche decided to probe around for more information. When the girl came to get his lunch order: “So how long have you been working here, I come here every couple weeks and you’re a new face.” The girl blushed a bit and stammered back an answer “W-well it was a week ago that I got the job. What can I get you for lunch?” Nietzsche smiled and replied: “Well I would like just a regular bowl of ramen please. Oh and just wait a second. Can I ask you about the recent break ins?” The girl kind of averted her eyes and then answered: “Y-y-yes what would you like to know?” Nietzsche stared right into her eyes and asked: “Do you know who is breaking in?” The girl replied with a curt: “No” Nietzsche chose to drop the subject and looked down at his table again. Getting up Nietzsche went into the back to talk to the chef who he knew personally.
Walking back into the steamy kitchen Nietzsche quickly conversed with the chef who agreed with that Nietzsche that the new waitress was rather suspicious, but he needed workers and she was the only one he had right then as his regular one was sick. Sighing Nietzsche retuned to his table and thanked the new waitress as she brought him a bowl of ramen. Nietzsche slurped down the ramen as quickly as possible. He had asked the chef to give the waitress a job real quick, which would allow her near the cash box and the food-it would be perfect chance for her to steal if she was a thief. Nietzsche disguised himself in the back room with the money when to his utter surprise a exact copy of himself walked through the door. Who ever the thief was had transformed into him and was proceeding to steal all the money. Nietzsche had to act and fast.
Moving quickly he came up behind the image of himself and attempted to deliver a knockout blow to the back of the head. The image dispersed and the new waitress appeared there-so she was the culprit. The girl was quick and she dodged Nietzsche’s blow and hit Nietzsche once in the stomach knocking the wind out of him. She then ran out the door. Regaining his composure Nietzsche ran after her. He was easily faster and had caught up to her before she got to far. He confronted her in an alleyway. Not taking any chances Nietzsche body flickered behind her and with one blow was able to rend her unconscious. Looking down at the body he sighed and picked her up and brought he back to the ramen shop. He figured the shop owner could deal with this miscreant himself. Once he arrived back the chef thanked him and promised him a free bowl of ramen later. Nietzsche smiled and checked off another mission for the day. (words: 739)
Kill the Beast
It was becoming dark now and the earlier coolness of the day had set in with a vengeance, though the mist had set in again. Pulling his jacket close around himself Nietzsche shuddered a bit the wind seemed to go right through him as he neared the edge of town for the second time that day. His third and final mission was to kill some unknown beast that had been wreaking havoc in the towns outskirts. Nietzsche could not help, but laugh his instruction had been rather ambiguous, but regardless he was now off to go kill a beast.
He waved to the guards as he left making sure to inform them of his absence. He did not bother telling them that he would be in danger in any way. It was more self-confidence as he stride out of the village shrouded in mist. Darkness had truly fallen at this point and owls and bats glided through the air trying to catch their blind prey. Nietzsche walked towards the forest in search of the beast. He could hear all sorts of sounds going this way and that, but none of them sounded particularly beastly to him until he heard a bone chilling howl rip through the night air. Nietzsche’s ears quickly honed in on the sound; it sounded like a wounded animal with a bloodlust.
As Nietzsche approached a thicket he heard the howl again and it almost made him jump out of his skin. The sound was very close now. Nietzsche’s eyes darted this way and that in hopes of catching a glimpse of the creature. Finally in the bushes he saw a pair of two red eyes starting lifelessly back at him. All of a sudden the shadow seemed to jump out at Nietzsche and the horror of what it was came into sharp relief. It was a large hound with glowing red eyes and a black pelt; it looked like something out of a story book. The creature looked to weigh a bit less than Nietzsche. As it leaped out Nietzsche sidestepped it. This was definitely the beast he was looking for. He assumed it was probably a escaped nin dog that was mistreated or something by its owner, because these dogs were not normally this aggressive. The hackles of the dog stood on end as it squared off against Nietzsche and charged again. Diving out of the way he felt as the dog caught a hold of his foot. It’s large teeth sunk in and ripped at Nietzsche’s ankle. He let out a scream of pain while the dog kept its hold.
Nietzsche ripped out his tanto and went to behead the dog, but it let go of Nietzsche’s ankle and dodged; it seemed this dog had been trained to fight. Struggling to stand Nietzsche shot out some water bullets at the dog, which it promptly dodged and allowed the water to splash harmlessly against the brush. The dog was quick and smart as it feinted Nietzsche’s shots and got closer and closer until it lunged again.
This time Nietzsche was faster and threw himself out of the way. He then quickly made a crow clone to fight for him as he ankle was hurting too much at this point. The clone stood up and faced the dog and activated it’s chakra scalpels. And as the dog charged the clone held out both hands and allowed the dog to tackle it. The scalpels went straight into the dog and hit its heart before it destroyed the clone. The dog fell limp on the ground-dead. The crow clone dispersed and Nietzsche got to healing his ankle. He hoped the dog was not rabid. A green glow came from Nietzsche’s hand as he healed himself. Getting up he smiled-all in a days work for him.
As he walked back to the village he looked up at the now full moon it was beautiful. It seemed that the moon goddess danced through the sky content with its subordinate place with the sun. As he went through the gates he checked in with the guards and then made a beeline to his home. He jumped over roofs and house until he arrived at a familiar one. Jumping down he pushed open his door and went straight to bed. (Words: 718)
