(I am going to assume that you are going at 20 speed, seeing as that is the increase the sword gives you and I haven't seen you post any technique that allows you to use it as a surfboard xD )
Denkiteki watched as the kid got on his surfboard, and began to ride it towards the shore? "How is that NOT a jutsu?" Denkiteki wasn't mad though, he just ran after the boy, who was on his surfboard/sword thing. The kid could probably do that for awhile and not get tired, and probably thought he would be able to get to the finish line without being tired while Denkiteki slowly grew fatigued and then finally had to stop. It was a decent plan, but Denkiteki was going to make sure it didn't work.
Tank would feel the sword move a bit as Denkiteki landed on the back of the sword, unless he managed to stop Denkiteki from getting on at all. If he did manage to get on the sword, he would begin channeling chakra into his feet so that he remained attached to the blade, "So this isn't a Jutsu? Please enlighten me as to how this thing can float without you using any sort of technique?" Denkiteki said, smiling. He looked at ease, on the back of the kids sword, but if he made an attack Denkiteki would be ready. He was faster than the kid, so he would probably be able to make a counter attack shortly after Tank tried and attack him. If he didn't attack, Denkiteki would gladly remain on the back of his sword, and wait until they got close to the shore.

Water splashed in Denkiteki's face, Tank had managed to dodge him. Landing onthe water, Denkiteki smirked as he heard Tanks explanation, that the sword was extremely light weight. Made of metal but less dense than water? What kind of crap is that sword made of? Denkiteki didn't dwell to much on the thought though, he had a race to win. As long as he didn't tire himself to much, he would win.
Denkiteki looked towards the shore, as he set off again towards it, it was still fairly far away. He could still try and get on Tank's sword and try and ride the waves to the shore, but would surfing really be a good idea? He might just end up tired from trying to get on the board, would it not be better to just run towards the shore and hope for the best? Tank was moving fast on the board, but was he really moving so fast that Denkiteki couldn't overpass him while still moving at a pace that wouldn't cause him to be exhausted?
Looking at Tank, Denkiteki decided that he had a good chance of still winning, evne if he just ran. Leaning forward more as he ran, Denkiteki began to pick up speed. He didn't try and go at full speed, but he was still moving pretty fast. The way he saw it, he could manage the pace he was at for some time before he got tired, and could pick it up if he needed to.
Denkiteki made sure to stay a few meters away from Tank as he moved past him, turnign to look at him only for a moment, smirking. He wasn't going to try and stay back with Tank now, so far he had continued to try and hinder Denkiteki's progress. If he moved ahead, all that he had to worry about was his own fatigue, and whilehe wasn't in the best of shape, he coudl still force himself to run even if he did get exhausted.

(Way longer than 48 hours, so I'm just going to wrap this up I guess.)
Denkiteki ran ahead of Tank for the rest of the race. As the end drew near, he had begun to feel tired, but that wasn’t enough to stop him. In the end it was a close race, but Denkiteki was the clear victor. Denkiteki’s feet touched the shore with Tank only a couple meters behind him.
Denkiteki said farewell to the other Genin before departing, unsure as to what he would do now that that was over. I think I will go get something to eat, I’m feeling pretty hungry.
