Stop those morons [Kozai, Arcanis, mission]

The mission


Kozai dreamed of a dark expanse, inside which there was nothing. He looked around, wondering where he was. Why was the inside of his mind like this? It was always like this, wasn't it? He wondered where Evil Kozai was. Ever since they had fused, the other self had been less frequent in separating to speak to him. Although this was a good thing, Kozai missed the conversation. He was lonely now, in the dark void of his dreamscape. Where was his other self? Suddenly, Kozai felt a pulling sensation. It was like someone was yanking him out of a lake, through a thick mass of water. "WAKE UP, WEAKLING." There it was.... his voice.

Kozai woke up, gasping and sweating. What a dream! He climbed out of the bedcovers, and stood up, looking out the window. How dull, the day was cloudy and overcast. However, that meant that the sky would be filled with water. That was pleasant. Kozai turned, and got dressed before handing downstairs. Yawning, he would go to his front door and go outside. Outside, he almost tripped over a beige manila folder. What was this.... another mission? Kozai yawned, and took the folder up in his hand, and went back inside, closing and securing the door. He sat down at his sofa, and picked up a freshly made mug of ice-cold bitter coffee. A bracing drink, he had taken a liking to it after his meetings with Echo, who drank the stuff to keep himself awake while staying up to finish off paperwork.

Kozai put down the coffee mug on the table (of course he used a trivet), and opened up the folder. He saw that this one was different, it was a higher rank. A B-rank mission, huh? How amusing. This would keep him occupied for a while, he would see. So, what did Echo want him to do this time? 

What.... someone had stolen the files from the kage office? How unusual. Apparently, Echo must have been absent, because it wasn't likely that anything could have made it past him. Kozai thought back to the last time he had met with Echo... he had left those folders on the desk. Hmm.... he would have to see what was going on. But wait a minute.... there was another sheet. He was assigned to do a mission with a partner? Really? This was going to be a new experience after all. 

The boy looked at the partner who he was assigned to. He blinked twice. Now, what a coincidence. How unusual, that he would be assigned to this particular person. Arcanis Hedatari, huh..... so, he would meet his partner at such and such a coordinate in the mountains. It was time to head out. 

Kozai opened the door, fully prepared. He knew that his target's appearance was not known, but he would be able to find him anyways. He had sensory after all. But first, he would have to find Arcanis, and start a coordination. It was time to begin.

Kozai flew over the village, whizzing past buildings and the wall out into the mountains. He landed at the required coordinate, and looked around for Arcanis.

Kozai had found Arcanis. "Ah, there you are. Well, as you say. Let's find this fool." He had no idea why Echo himself hadn't undertaken this task... well, maybe it was because he was busy with other matters, or perhaps because he, like many others, was just a little bit lazy. Both of these were very real possibilities, but Kozai wasn't up to putting much mental thought or activity into that. Echo business was his own business; as of right now, he had this mission to worry about, and didn't need any distractions whatsoever. Now, back to the matter at hand.

"Ah, well. I could always find any interesting chakra signatures. Tell you what, let's split up and rendezvous back here in two hours. During that time, I can search the countryside with my sensory, while you can run around the villagers and use your marvelous persuasive skills to get the villagers to tell you what they know. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to do that better than I would. After dazzling them last week, they may try to flatter me rather than give me what I need. I'm not trying to be proud right now, but rather, realistic. So, what do you say to that plan?"

Kozai hoped that Arcanis would accept. After all, his sensory was more appropriate for covering large tracts of uninhabited ground, like the mountains. He would step onto another disk of water. Regardless of whether or not Arcanis did accept, he would have to take to the air, so he may as well prepare for lift-off. If Arcanis did refuse, Kozai would have to listen to an alternative plan, but he himself believed that to "divide and conquer" was the best option. Well, he would now have to wait patiently for Arcanis' response.

Arcanis listened to Kozai carefully.  They would need to split up.  Kozai made a strong arguement.  He could easily search the surrounding area for the perpetrator.  Assuming of course the theif had left town already.  Arcanis nodded at the suggestion that they split up.  Arcanis could get information out of the villagers and what's more Arcanis had yet to fulfill the mission for Echo to show off his power a little in the town.  That way Kozai wouldn't just be pleasing a crowd.  To discover a theif one would have to be stealthy themselves.

Kozai hopped up on the disc of water that he liked to travel on.  Arcanis thought Kozai looked funny when he flew on the Water disc cause his face always distorted and flappy when he flew off on it.  Arcanis didn't reveal his amusement.  Arcanis watched Kozai disappear into the distance.  Arcanis turned to look back into the village with his Eyes completely black.

Arcanis teleported back into town.  He positioned himself in a shadowy area as to not draw attention of his entrance to any of the villagers.  Going to one of his favorite coffee shops Arcanis ordered his favorite drink and sat down to enjoy it.  The mid afternoon crowd had already begun to form.  The shop was soon loud with the din of cheerful patrons.  Arcanis siped his drink while watching everyone with his Ichmatsugan.  One couple seemed to be amusing themselves in the back corner with their tongues down each others throats.  Arcanis literally rolled his closed eyes.  A man drank a tea that he had purchased and thought noone had seen spiking.  Then Arcanis saw her.  She was the one arcanis had been waiting for.  She ordered some non-descript drink and sat quietly at the bar drinking.  Her cloak hid the scars of where her father had cut her face a couple years ago.  Arcanis knew her only by reputation.  She was the best eavesdropper in the town and Arcanis was about to make her an offer on her wears.  When she got up to leave so did Arcanis.  She headed for the door and he went to the counter to order another drink.

Arcanis Waited a while till his target had disappeared down a side street a couple blocks a way.  Dropping his drink in the trash he teleported to around the corner of the building she was about to turn.  She rounded the corner and walked right into him.  As she fell backward onto her ass her hood fell off revealing a stunning red haired girl.  Arcania watched her fall with no expression.  She made a small yelp and looked up at him angrily.  Suddenly the girl seemed to recognize Arcanis.  She looked terrified.  SHe slid backward and began to scurry to her feet to run.  "You know that's worthless."  Arcanis said to her back.  She froze not moving at all.  Very few people in the village had seen his truly evil side.  This girl knew all about it.  "Hello Alex"  Arcanis continued.  "It's been a while.  You know why I'm here."  Arcanis said to the back of the woman.  

She turned and glared at him.  "Well I can assume you don't want to get back together."  Her words were her only attack that Arcanis feared.  He imagined her words as the blade that had destroyed her perfect face.  She had gone against her fathers wishes to date Arcanis and her father in a drunken fit of rage had cut his daughter.  Arcanis retaliated by killing her father.  The problem was He had enjoyed it.  He had taken pleasure in carving up his girlfriends father.  He was a beast and Arcanis had slaughtered him like one.  Alex had witnessed the whole thing.  She had hated her father but this side of Arcanis was too much.

"I need to know what you know about Echo's lost documents."  Arcanis stood there watching Alex.  He waited patiently.  He didn't have to hide his self from her.  She knew about him.  So Arcanis just waited for her to tell him.

"I heard that someone is trying to sell Iwa secrets in the next town over that's it."  Alex feared him.  It almost saddened him  of all the people he was close to, she was the only on he had truly been intimate with.  Now she stood shivering clearly believing that she was going to die.  Arcanis frowned.  truly frowned and blinked back to the mountains.

Kozai flew off slowly over the treetops. At one point, far up, he would stop and open his Mind's Eye of Kagura. He spotted some chakras in the village, and a few in a hamlet nearby. Hmmm... there was Arc, using his silver tongue to persuade the hearts of others. What a talent that was, indeed. Kozai was sure that whenever he spoke to someone, his voice was harsh and terrifying, and his tongue was as of lead. Searching for chakra signatures out in the open here wasn't hard work, but it sure was time consuming. And you never know.... someone might be hiding their chakra. He spread his arms, laughing and laughing to the wind, easing the tedium of the "hanging around" in the sky. He swept his sensory over the hills, and found.... nothing. Hmm... now that was interesting.

He flew down to the hamlet and bust his way inside. "Deliver the files to me, now!" The people in there were a small family. Hold on.... these were the remains of the family that he had violated so long ago. "Ah, I remember you, now. You there, woman. I strapped your husband to a cart, didn't I? Oh boy, I'm very sorry for that. I just wanted to know if you just so happened to...." at this point, he would flare his aura, creating an enormous white demon in the room. "WHERE ARE THOSE FILES." The three females in the room responded slowly, one after another.

"I... I don't know what you're talking about."

"I don't have them."

"Huh?"

Hmmm... the first one was lying. He grabbed her by the neck and threw her across the room. "YOU WILL TELL ME." This time, the floor around him began to crackle with the formation of frost and ice. "YOU WILL TELL ME THE TRUTH."

A few minutes later, he came back to the rendevouz point. Arcanis was already there. "Ah, Arcanis. What have you discovered? I hope your efforts have been successful. I... er.... re-esatblished communications with some old contacts, and they told me much."

He remembered how that girl had trembled, afraid of what he had done to her last time. Of course, he wasn't. He was mellowed out more than before, and was a little more reserved. "TELL ME."

"Our.... our brother... who wasn't home when you came last time... he wanted to take revenge on the ninja... so he stole it." The girl was tearing up now, and probably wouldn't be able to last much longer. 

"Very well. Then tell me one last thing." He extended the ice, so that it crawled over the floor, like a mass of doom creeping towards her. "WHY CAN'T I FIND HIS CHAKRA." She started to cry. "He.... he can suppress it..... he was born with that gift. Father used to say.... that it would someday help him fight."

After getting some more information, Kozai left the house and returned to the rendezvous. He related to Arcanis the following vital information.

"Well, the person we're looking for is a man with raven black hair, who can suppress his chakra. He's about our own age, and fled into the mountains. He's hiding out in some kind of dingy old shack to the North of the village. We should be able to find him by the smoke now, it's about dinnertime, so he should be cooking. Even if he's not, I'm sure we'll find him with ease." Kozai would wait for Arcanis' response, waiting to see what kind of reaction he would give. What would his partner in the ninja life say?

Arcanis listened to Kozai relay the details.  The way he smiled and his eyes shifted.  Acanis watched kozai closely.  He could read small details off of his breath and irises.  Something was reminding Kozai of something pleasurable.  Arcanis listened closely as Kozai described this mystery ninja and how he was somewhere in the mountain surpressing his chakra.  Kozai said something about dinner time and the fact that he might be cooking.  Arcanis closed his eyes seemingly lost in thought.  Kozai said that they might be able to find him if they located smoke.  What kozai didn’t realize was that Arcanis had already come to that conclusion and had already located the small wisp of smoke as it curled upward revealing the location of the man who was in hiding.  Arcanis nose twitched slightly as if he had caught wind of some smell that he detested.  The man was camped out at Arcanis secret training grounds.  Arcanis could see the campfire that he himself had built.  This man had stolen something.  And it wasn’t the files that pissed Arcanis off it was the theft of His private dojo.  Releasing his eye jutsu before opening  his eyes Arcanis scowled building up his chakra.  Walking passed Kozai, Arcanis released a pulse of chakra that separated, twisting into a sphere and surrounding the two of them.  Taking another step Kozai would find himself transported along with Arcanis to the mountain side, just 20 meters from a rundown shack and a fire burning off to the side.

The moment they arrived, Kozai would body flicker into the shack. At the same time, he would encase the man's body in ice, leaving his head uncovered. With water, he would throw the man out to Arcanis, and explode the shack with a shockwave of water expanding outward. "Heh!" he said, as he walked out of the wreckage. "Let's go, Arcanis. Target..... neutralized." He would walk toward Arcanis, not knowing who would arrange the transport.

Just as the man came flying out of the shed.  Arcanis reached out and caught the mans frozen body by his face stopping his momentum instantly.  Arcanis palmed the frozen mans face.  His anger bubbling to a boil Arcanis resisted the urge to crush the mans head with his hand.  Instead Arcanis just rotated his body and threw the man through a Jiso into the offices of the Kage.  Arcanis followed slowly.  Keeping himself in check.  He and Kozai had successfully completed this mission.
