Terrified and guilty

She didn't speak. She didn't need to. Almost in response to his question the scene began to unfold. A small girl with short black hair fell out of the door leading into the academy. She stumbled backwards almost at a crawl to get away from a force that was unknown to them until seven children of the same age appeared in the doorway.

"Come on nomo. All you have to do is substitute. Substitute and this all stops." The boy speaking had a smug look on his face and bright red eyes with the signature look of an uchiha. Other children chanted to her insults and digs about the hyuga clan, something about a Byakugan, and as the words jumbled from the sheet amount of people speaking the boy moved towards her again. He kicked her in the stomach hard enough to push her back to maku's feet, her body seeming to go right through his legs as if he weren't there. She was bruised and bloodied and as she cried the children only laughed harder.

Maku watched, hands still in pockets as all this happened.  No wonder the mission had struck a nerve.  It was intresting to watch everything happened, and he couldn't help but feel not to surprised about the whole thing.  Kira had always acted unassured, and clearly had some abuse in her background.  SO this was the events that took place to create it.  At least the start of it.  Maku looked towards Selene, was she even a real demon.  Or instead a creation of Kira's own mind, a construct to shoulder the weight.  Kira had always acted like the demon was a real thing, but now Maku wasn't sure.

"So, this is why she wants to go to Konoha so bad, a part of her mind knows it is were she is truly from.  Does she remember any of this?"

After three more attacks the boy let up finally. His smirk only seemed to grow as her head hung low in the dirt. Her breathing was incredibly labored and blood poured from her mouth and nose as she fought to draw breath slowly. "What now little hyuga girl? Where is your byakugan. That's right you don't have one. Weak little orphans don't deserve the power of a doujutsu, not that it would matter." The children left her there, giggling and laughing as they went inside.

"Broken memories. Her full memory is within the black doll daruku who resents her for the weakness. I however hold the sorrow of this world in my heart and can see her pain. " she paused seemingly to consider her next set of words carefully. The scene around them immediately shifted. They were no longer in the leaf village. It was dark, probably about midnight and they stood outside of the gate of Ame where the next vision started. A woman with long bright blue hair wearing a royal blue and black kimono emblazoned with a raven ran out of the gates in terror. She was shirt, looking very much like the young ninja maku knew, though clearly much older. In her arms she clutched a bundle of cloths wrapped tightly around an infant. Behind her an explosion rang out. A man ran behind her about ten meters, turning to stop and bring his hands together. A large shadow rose up to strike at an unseen assilent for a moment only to be stopped when a hail of weapons flowed out the gate killing him and striking the woman several times. She was bleeding profusely but still managed to keep her pace ducking into a small alcove and out of sight.

"Kira. My child with my dying breath I will protect you. Damn this world that you were born with my blood, but I will not let them get you..."

The scene shifted, not giving Maku much time to contemplate on what the demon had said.  The doll daruku was something important, then what would happened if it was destroyed, would she regain the memories of pain, or simply forget them forever.  The scene was of violence, as powers clashed.

"What am I seeing Selene, That one looks like Kira, but I don't think its her, perhaps her mother?"

He had other questions, like what the blue doll symbolized, but he didn't have time to ask just now.  Also the fact that Kira was adopted by the Hyuga clan, which was odd, Maku had always heard of them being a very secret family not accepting outsiders, so truly that is an odd occurrence.

"Yes. It is her mother. The last remaining member of the youchikora clan of Amegakagure. Their blood line was said to be so powerful it rivaled that of a bijuu and for it every member was hunted down and either captured to use as a weapon or killed as that none may gain their power for themselves." As she spoke they watched the woman travel in broken images each mor saddening them the last. Finally she got to the gate of konoha, weakened and barely able to keep herself up. She clutched onto the baby for dear life searching for something until she waivered, falling to her knees on the steps of a large building,

"I can go no further.... Kira I'm sorry." The door opened and an older woman looked out, seeing the half dead mother bleeding on their doorstep. From her attire she was clearly hyuuga, and she parted her lips to speak but before the words reached them the vision stopped and the world went black.

"She was cursed with a hidden bloodline this child. Damned to use only the water element but not offered any of the positive effects of her mothers blood, you see it skips a generation."

"Is there any way to break such a curse.  Bloodlines are strong, but they are never set in stone, there is always a work around.  But why did the Hyugas even bother taking her in, why not leave her at an orphanage?"

It really was a sad tale, and he would forever think of Kira in a different way, not that he would ever show her he had knowledge of any of this, as it might either embarrass her, or she might not even know he was here.

"Selene, does Kira know you are showing me all of this?"

"I do not know maku. My vision is limited to the sorrows of this world not the hopes. That is why we are know as sorrow of humanity." She wasn't sure if the comment would be noticed or lost to the man before her. It was subtle, the suggestion that her existence lies within the scythe Kira summoned at will for protection and defence, and it was possible that her name had not actually been uttered in his presence.

"She has no clue. The understanding from my perspective would be too much for her. When she gains memory of who she was it will be the good and the bad. And about the bloodline... No. It is absolute. This is why she was unable to suceed in the academy. Her blood refused the method at which she was taught substitution, among other jutsu. It was only later that she learned to do these jutsu with the power of suiton. If any find out her last name they will hunt her maku. She does not have the power but she could bear a child with its gifts. Keep her away from Amegakagure."

So it was as he suspected this was for his eyes only, well along with Selene.  Looking around he absorbed the information, and considered a multitude of things and pieced things together.  One was the continuation of the word sorrow, wasn't that what Kira called her scythe.  Were each of her objects specific to her emotions.  The scythe, the blue and the black doll.  It didn't really matter, nothing would hurt Kira as long as he was around her.

"Selene, like I told you the first time, no one will hurt Kira while I can prevent it.  I think I have proved that well enough.  I don't think I will reveal any of this either, she doesn't necessarily need to know I know all of this, or that we even conversed."

He would look around contemplating a couple things.  She could have a child with those powers, that was the one thing that stuck out in his mind.  The parts of his mind that were not bothered by morality and care began to whir at that notion.  That would be a powerful ally that child would, but now was not really the time for such thoughts.

"I will do my best to keep her from Amegakure, however it isn't necessarily in my range of control, I am confined in my present location for awhile, if she chooses to leave without me there isn't much I can do."

"Ok. " the words left Kira's lips the second maku began to speak to sorrow. The illusion was gone in a moment and time seemed to have continued from the moment he left, almost like what had happened was a distant dream.

~I know you will find a way. If you need me speak my name into her mind and it will be mine alone to hear~ the voice penetrated his mind like a whisper that slowly grew fainter.

Her words were like a whisper, but he heard them all the same.  He would indeed talk to Selene again, he found her impressive and inviting, though he realized the oddities of that thought.  Perhaps it wasn't her, but the construct and the idea of how she was formed that he found intriguing.  As someone who had little to no emotion about anything, any intense emotional response intrigued him, even a negative one like the creation of Selene.

"Kira, as I said all is forgiven, I will shoulder any burden that you have about the incident.  Also, I have a serious question for you."  Maku would spin his chair in a circle, and think of how he could keep her from ever going to Amegakure, and a thought struck him.  He doubted she would accept, but it was something that's been on his mind for a while, and he had planned to offer it to her before any of these events had happened.  "Kiranomo, would you like to be a Jounin of Yukigakure no Sato, and serve as my right hand?"  it would probably surprise her to hear such a question. However, he would ask it all the same and wait for the response.
