"Dear Denkiteki, or I geuss Aki,
So sorry for this. It seems my sister took the final portion of our mission a bit to critically. I kind of wish you hadn't made it to do intel on another village because well.... Geuss where we are. So um, we took a little trip to Ame to see how they're thriving and for my sister to see her hero and show the great cosplay queen of Amekagure exactly what she has to offer before we spend a couple days with mom and dad now that the whole infiltration situation should be well over. So first of course i'd like to request that you send an escourt. yes, I know i'm a bit late. I'll bide us some time as i'm able to. Please please send help within a days time When she find out our parents are dead There will be at the very least a metaphoric explosion. My big worry is that there will be an eleven year old running rampant in a village we probably need to have good relationship with. HOpefully you can read this, i'm writing it as i travel, and sorry for the trouble. " The letter would be written in extremely choppy hand writing, clearly not well done in the slightest, but legible... sort of. Mostly she was just thankful that there was an incredibly plot convenient merchant in the borders of amekagure... or the ruins of amekagure. Yep. this mission is going to be fun. WIth the greatest of shotty hole in the wall pigeion delivery service the letter would reach them the short distance before the day was over, and for sake of the twins we hope happens. Well. Lets get started.
"Ash stop stop. I'm tired. I need to take a rest. " Rei would stop just after having paused at the merchant, handing him the note with a large sum of ryo and a second note with explanation. He nodded, trying badly to hide the excitement he'd gotten t the realization that she'd just given him a ton of cash, enough that he wouldn't need to work for a few months, and finally handed them both a cold strawberry soda and bag of popcorn.
"Thanks. Alright. So I need a small breather, and I think we should start with analyzing the available exportable goods that can be gained from the village. we'll take to the jungle and see exactly is available since the rebuild. WE know there was a major destruction of course, we were sent out because of it, but they rebuild . lets see what they've built with." Rei took a sip of her drink as she explained the plan that would conveniently keep them out of sight long enough for their escourt to arrive. Ash was as usual having absolutely none of that.
"No no. We need to go see Aios! With all the training we've been doing I know she'll be excited to see theres a princess of cosplay seeking to push to the level of elegance that only she has to this point been able to master. COme one lets hurry!!!" This would not end well at all.
"No ash. Mission first. We'll go see Aios and the rest of ame in time. For now we need to look into exaclty what I said. We'll make camp out here tonight and when morning comes we'll go into the village. now. Lets go see about the village. " They headed towards the jungle, Rei drawing out her notebook once more as their ten puppets spread out, taking inventory of exactly what all was available. There was an over abundance of wood, which they could easily have assumed from having lived there for so long, but what worried the black haired girl terribly was that the more they traveled, the more they would find there were no signs of the resources of the area being used. "Wierd. You'd think they would have been taking down this jungle to use for timber but theres no signs of them logging or even taking any of the resources in the area. Lets go in a bit more I suppose, but this just really feels off."
"With the crazy ammount of money Aios has to be making as the queen of cosplay by doing shows and selling her brilliant outfits I bet she just outsources all of it. Duh Reial. Clearly she wouldn't take all of our peoples time away from their crafts do do something silly like manual labor. How stupid can you be?! "
Fuck fuck fuck fuck. Thinking about the previous destruction, rei had a horrible feeling. What if the demon that'd destoryed the village the first time returned. What if the jungle wasn't in tact becasue they didn't need it's resources, but becuase there were none in the area to... No. It couldn't be true. she'd gotten word that the village was up and thriving and for that to no logner be true would take a remarkably devistating force. There was just no possibility.
"Well. At anry rate theres a ton of resources here. This is excelent information. you are probably right sis. They're probably just doing so well that they dont need it, or have found some magical way to take care of regaining what they've already taken. Maybe they've moved strait into steel for all of their building needs. It'll be nice to see that the skyscrapers of AMekagure are back and beautiful. " they set up camp finally as the sun began to set, Pinochio removing from his back pack a delux tenting aparatus that cost them quite a pretty penny but would enable their comfortable slumber, including four rooms and an attachable air conditioning system held by one of the teddy bear puppets. Really it was like being at home except the matress was an ultra plush inflatable that for all intents and purposes was exaclty the same as their beds at home. Rei would keep a watch with chakra strings woven through the entire area to alert her if anything happened, hooked tight enough and with enough distance that if anything came within thirty meters she would be jarred awake and they finally went to sleep.

midnight, day three. "Is it time yeeeeeet"
Two am, day three. "Lets go lets go"
Five fifteen Am "REEEEEIIIIIIII"
At nine thirty am She could finally hold off her sister any longer. She wasn't actually sure what sleep was at this point. Somehow Ash had managed to find the energy to bounce about the jungle and borders, taking their two days of intense study on the area around to sit in a tree, simply watching from above while the black haired twin did the better portion of the work. She assumed her sister had plans to take the lead once they reached the village hidden in the rain, speaking with the village leader for several hours, and while visiting and spending time with her idol somehow magically gain the information they needed. It wasn't a sound plan in Rei's eyes, who expected as usual she would need to do most of the work and most likely Rei would get the least benefit from the situation.
"Fine fine. I'm up. " They'd not heard from the village hidden in the stars yet, which Rei wasn't surprised about. She simply prayed that her message had actually made it to the village. If there wasn't assistance Rei was worried about the outcome.

Lord Mervyn Sloan wasn't used to travelling on foot.
Truth be told he wasn't used to travelling much at all. Even as a young noble while his peers dreamed of sword fights, adventures and beautiful maidens, the boy the Gods had left somewhat chubby around the middle and unfortunately pockmarked of face had dreamed of a bowl of figs, followed by a hearty drink of ale. Fortunately for his Lordship, he had been the only and therefore rather indulgent son of a cousin of Queen Shiera's and mostly left to wander around (or not) as the females took charge of the more administrative side of ruling. At the age of nineteen when it came time for a vocation - a noble without a role at court was even worse than a noble most people forgot existed - he had taken up the church as his calling. Of course, his choice had had little to be with passion for the Great Lady and everything to do with the fact that worshiping involved little to no physical exertion. And there he had remained happily until these blasted ninja had arrived at The City Blessed by the Stars.
The last year had been nothing short of disastrous in Lord Sloan's opinion. First those ninja had somehow wormed their way into the palace, then his Queen cousin's heart and finally, they had managed to assassinate Lord Nedran and turn Pendragon Allies into filthy Ninja Slaves. Lord Nedran had never been so close to him, they had simply shared the occasional drink and ryo had exchanged hands now and then but mostly his Lordship didn't mind the council adviser. But now that Nedran was dead, he was a great friend who had been wronged. All the faith Mervyn had lacked when taking up the mantle of the church and Her High Lady now showered him in spades, making him believe that this was his calling. To rid the city of these filthy, demonic ninja and send them back to the hell they'd came from.
After a bit of rest of course, one couldn't over exert oneself, not even in the service of The Goddess.
Stumbling off his noble steed (who looked half dead after having carried the considerable bulk of its rider), his lordship took stock of his surroundings. He was definitely in Rain country now. Two days later than intended and short of his page, his cup bearer and a woman of the Church who's sole purpose was to keep him company should he feel devoid of the Goddess at any point in his journey. She had been the first to go, into the swamps after falling off the horse. His cup bearer and page, Mervyn suspected, had conspired in the night. Men who lay with men were creatures of betrayal and all his hardships only proved that he was the chosen one.
So with more determination than ever before, the balding, middle aged man had taken only his horse, as much food and water as he could carry and a plan to find these little girls. Back home, he had asked to be their escort because the Goddess had reveled this plan to him. He in turn had only revealed half. He had told Denkiteki and his whore that he was meant to find the girls by the light of the Goddess, he hadn't told them he was also meant to end their life.
Breaking through some bushes, the man finally beard what appeared to be the girls' campsite, his expression relaxing in a false smile practiced often in his line of duty. No sense attacking without knowing what he was up against.
"Asheriel, Reial?" he called out as genially as a man covered in wildlife blisters, pockmarks and tatters could. "Her Royal Highness Akihana has sent me to escort your good selves for the journey. I trust I find you both in good health?"

The girl's heard their name, which caused two separate expression, both with a similar basic ideal. THe excitement resonating through ash's form was all too visible as she turned taking two steps to rush towards where she'd head the man's voice before she was stopped. Rei however let out a sigh of relief. A third person meant at the least she could relax for a bit. This newcomer would keep her sister occupied until they finally reached the village, This would give her at least a few hours more to stall before finally they'd travel to the village hidden in the rain. Rei's hand on the blonde girl's arm stopped her in her tracks, light pressure making it clear she wasn't to immediately rush towards the man. the two were on the same page for exactly eleven seconds, and then things went, as expected, negatively.
Rei sent two of the teddy bear puppets towards the sound, two small brown teddy bears walking up to stop about ten meters from the man, waving in the direction the black haired twin hoped was towards him. somehow she'd gotten it right. Meanwhile Ash rushed away the moment rei released her arm, heading directly towards the village.
"SHit. " Rei followed her puppets stopping in front of the man and speaking calmly, "We need to go. My sister is on her way towards the village and she's moving pretty quickly so um... Hi i'm rei, let's have some fun." It would be noted that the tent, which was clearly quite pricey, was left up where it stood. It would also be useful to point out that there had been three other tents set up within the jungle, each abandoned. The beauty of these tents, of course, came from how they were designed to open up completely at the pull of a chord but the closing up of them was quite a bit more dificult. thankfully these kids were gross awkward rich.

"Very well," Lord Sloan replied to the ebony haired monstrosity. The fair haired one was rude but tradition compelled him to think better of her simply because of the color of her hair. That was how these ninja operated, preying on the fears and admiration of the good people of Hoshigakure but Mervyn was no fool.
'Let The Goddess shine Her light on our journey," he added as he began to follow Reial towards where her twin had apparently dispersed to. "Perhaps we shall be greeted by some kind villagers who will part with some figs and a flagon of wine. That should assuage your sister." The words were accompanied by laboured breathing as his lordship attempted to keep up with the twins now heading into Ame.
"As for your parents, I shall be happy to perform any last rites you would require. I am a man of the High Lady's church you know. It would b my honour." And getting close to these girls would also make for better opportunities when he killed them later on. Tragic of course. They were so young, the ambush was so quick. He would slice off his own hand post murder as evidence to show he had no part in it too.

Their first day into the village was a disastrous collision of noise and emotion and tears and thrown kunai that the black haired girl had to protect Lord Sloan from. Their second day didn't end the spiral of agony Ashereial felt at the loss of her parents and her idol. False idol but idol nonetheless. It took three days for the blonde one to finally just collapse from exhaustion. Her twin did much the same, she too being tired out from fighting with her sister for three days on end. The village they had came to explore looked quite deserted, both a curse and and a blessing.
As the girls lay collapsed in a deep sleep amid a pile of ninja weapon his lordship could no longer keep track of, Mervyn made his move. The last three days had done little to soften his heart towards the two eleven year olds except to now view his own actions in a more favorable light. This was why the High Lady had sent him here in Her infinite wisdom, she wanted the suffering of these unnatural creatures to end.
Carrying both girls one by one respectfully to their tent, the priest said a brief prayer before setting fire tot he flammable canvas. With the kind of mess the two had made over the past few days, anyone would easily believe there had been an ambush involving several bandits, the story he was going to be presenting upon his return to Hoshi. The fireworks they twin puppet users always stored with them made sure their funeral pyre burned s brightly as they had, going out with one final bang that lit up the skies.
Once only their bones remained, the middle aged noble set about collecting the items that had survived. He had done good, holy work today, lived up to his duty as the High Priest of the High Lady, perhaps for the first time in his life.
Making camp a few meters away from the wreckage, Mervyn Sloan decided to drift off to peaceful sleep. He would injure himself tomorrow and then head back with the festering wound as a testimony to his lies.

Lucian's morning started a bit earlier than he would of liked considering the vast distance he had traveled the day before, but the mission necessitated a certain amount of timeliness. The old man whose inn he was staying at that night was nice enough to prepare breakfast for the Nazar boy free of charge. Paying the old man for the next night in advance, just in case. Plus he did not want to lug around his pack and water with him. Worst case scenario was he had just paid a nice old man a little extra for his hospitality.
Stepping out into the lush swampland of Amegakure, Lucian look distinctly out of place. Wearing the same outfit he had when meeting princess Tehniyat over a week ago, white tunic accented by a maroon undershirt and brown pants. Oh, and there was the well aged leather sandals, one could not forget those nor the beads that glowed with a muted inner light around his neck. From his hip hung a calabash gourd filled with water should he get thirsty whilst searching about and in his right hand was a three ringed shakujo. To one who did not know Lucian he would look like a traveling monk especially considering his brilliantly bald head.
Setting out during a break in the nearly constant drizzle Lucian realized he really had no idea where to start. Sure, he was near Amegakure, but where were the people he was looking for? For the most part he kept to the main road. Interestingly said road did not look all that well traveled. Plus he hadn't actually seen anyone else on the road, it was bizarre.
Then he saw it or he thought he saw. Lucian was not woodsman, but he did know what a large patch of broken branches meant: something had gone through the brush there. Banking on his minimal experience with tracking Lucian followed the broken branches into a clear where he happened upon an odd scene, two people lay on the ground with an older balder one standing over them. The Nazar was further out and could not see much in the way of details. So, using the butt of his Shakujo to move aside the foliage in his way, he moved nearer.
"Reial, Asheriel, Lord Mervyn," Lucian called out as he drew closer not wanting to surprise the trio. "Is that you three?"
Here's hoping it's them...

The morning brought with it long overdue sorrow. The murders committed the day before in the heat of passion to serve the High Lady now fading away to harsh bright reality. In his own mind Lord Mervyn may have been a hero but to the world he would be seen as the murderer of two innocent girls - unless he hid the bodies.
The heavyset man had woken up earlier that morning to first injure himself. One of the girl's gathered ninja knives was good enough. After a sufficient amount of blood had seeped into his tunic, the man had gone about cleaning and bandaging the wound as best he could. Digging a grave with one arm might be too much for him but in it lay his proof, his righteousness, the evidence of the wound would show that despite injury, he had given those girls their last rites.
It was only an hour later when he had pulled the girls' charred bodies from the tent and stood surveying them that he heard the call of his own name and that of the twins. Was is one of his servicemen come to seek him out again? The Page? The Squire? Turning at the sound of his own name, the old man's face reflected nothing but sorrow for the scene laid before him.
"Good morrow, Argus is that you?" Perhaps digging those graves would be easier than expected. And an alibi was always good. "You have to come help... A most terrible event transpired through the night. The ninja girls are no more. We have to do our duty and bury their bodies."

"Argus?" Lucian called back as he drew nearer. "No, my name is Lucian Nazar I was sent by your niece, Tehni---"
The smell hit Lucian hard as he entered the clearing causing his speech to falter and his nose to wrinkle. The smell of burning flesh was not foreign to the boy. Every so often the vile smell would waft over the Nazar compound if the winds blew from the village of Funkagakure. Yet, despite its familiarity, the smell still made his stomach do flips. Suffice to say it was not pleasant.
And for a moment the Nazar boy had no words, he simply took in what looked like a battlefield. There were two scorch marks that appeared to be the remains of a camp and seemingly endless weapons strewn all about. He took note of the one handed man and what could only be two girls he had been sent to retrieve. Why else would the man had said they were no more?
"Lord Mervyn I presume?" Lucian asked, regaining his composure. "What happened here?"
There was no suspicion in the boy's voice, but rather a dark curiosity. As his teacher, Shinzo, always said it is better to ask than assume. And this situation most definitely warranted asking.

As the boy acolyte entered the clearing, the cogs in Lord Sloan's heads began to whir. It didn't take an especially astute man to realize this was a local of his own mother land, Haven. The dressing spoke volumes, right on the heels of the admission that he had been sent by one of his Royal cousin's girls. Adopting an appropriately grateful expression, the balding, middle aged man began his fabricated tale.
"I heard the commotion hours before dawn. We had camped here for the night, hoping to venture forth into the village on the morrow, but then those bandits came." At that, the man let a shudder wobble his generous frame. "I woke up to the sounds of weapons clashing. The blonde one, Ashiereial, she tried to save me but... " he held up his hand. "The girls were only able to deflect them fro so long. I must have fainted from the pain for when I came to..." He gestured to the burned bodies in front o him.
"They were kind, generous girls who shared their camp and food with me. We owe it to them to at least bury their remains.' At that, he made a brave show of reaching for a shovel, over emphasizing the pain he felt in his arm at the action. "If you would be so kind. It's what their parents would have wanted. I heard they were natives of Ame, may the High Lady bless their souls."
