Sento's Gennin Exam

Sento waited on a bench in a crowded hallway filled with several other academy students, it was the end of the year and thus time for the students to display the abilities they had learned in their time at the academy. “Am I good enough to be a gennin?” He thought to himself, letting a hint of self doubt was through him, before he shook his head violently. He was a capable student, and had done well in all his classes, there was no reason why he shouldn’t pass this exam, but still. He couldn’t help but feel nervous. He took a deep breath in an attempt to calm his nerves while his feet tapped relentlessly on the ground. His name would be called any second now.

Ayumi quietly exited the classroom and walked to a nearby one. Having proctoring the exams for a couple of hours, she was starting to get restless. After all, all she had been doing was sit and watch countless of students perform the same ole' jutsu over and over again.

As she entered the classroom, the kunoichi head over to the table that was placed right in the middle of the room. Loudly clearing her throat, she waited until the class settled down before speaking, "When I call out your name, come forward and demonstrate the clone jutsu and the transformation jutsu that you have learned. In addition to that, you will also demonstrate a different use for each of these jutsu."

Ending her short-lived speech, Ayumi called out the first name on the list: Sento Senju. Signalling the male to come forward, the kunoichi continued, "Take your time."

Sento watched as a woman obviously bearing the jounin rank walked down the hallway and entered the classroom he was waiting to be given the exam in. His brain instantly made the connection that she was to be the proctor of his exam, and followed her in with some of the other early academy students that had been waiting in the hall.

After a couple seconds of walking Sento found his way to an empty wooden desk in about the center of the classroom, not to far forward and not to far back, he was a cautious kid and was hoping the tactic would prevent him from being called first, he was older than the typical academy student and didn’t particularly like the idea of having to draw attention to himself by being the first to demonstrate the techniques, not that he had any doubt in his ability to perform the techniques, just that he hated being the center of attention.

The woman at the front of the classroom standing behind a desk then cleared her throat to mark that the exams were about to commence, and then finally revealed the two techniques that would be demonstrated, the clone and transformation techniques. A smile crossed sento’s face as he realized it was the first two techniques his sensei had taught him. He couldn’t believe his luck the techniques were so easy almost any academy student would find themselves capable enough to replicate them.

His smile didn’t last long however as the jounin who had not bothered to name herself said his name aloud, not a single person had been called first. Apparently sento’s clever idea to conceal himself in the middle of the cluster of desks and academy students had not worked. “Well alrighty then” He said quietly as he placed his palms on his wooden desk and pushed upwards lifting himself out of it and onto his feet.

As he rose to his feet he took a quick look around the class making eye contact with several younger academy students, after getting a good look at his audience he shuffled his way to the end of the row of desks before walking downwards to the front of the classroom and stopping just short of his instructor in front of her desk. He would look to her and then utter.

“Uuuuuh… I think I’m gonna start with transformation jutsu”

With a bit of nervousness in his voice but nothing to extreme or unordinary. After telling her what technique he was going to use he turned to face the class before weaving the hand signs, he had memorized the three of them well even before attending the academy while secretly studying them in his room with the door closed as his father had forbidden him to become a shinobi.

He started with Dog, before following up on it with Boar, and ending with ram. As he did so he would let the chakra form around him before taking on a solid state to turn him into what he was currently imagining. His white hair would slowly turn black as his yellow eyes began to take the shape and color of his younger brother Hiei Senju. His body would then begin to shrink, decreasing his tall six foot stature into that of an 11 year olds.
With the technique complete he would turn to the side so he was facing the jounin once more.

“This is the transformation technique, It is used to change one's appearance into that of someone else's. A way this could be used in combat is to disguise oneself and conceal their identity from the enemy, this could be used on stealth missions or assassination missions so that you cannot be traced back to your identity.”

Confident he had used the technique effectively he would then inform the jounin woman that he was about to start the clone jutsu in a manner relatively similar to how he had told her he was going to start the transformation before turning to face the class again.

He wouldn’t deactivate the transformation technique before doing so as he felt like showing off a bit, the two basic techniques didn’t leave much room for creativity so he figured duplicating himself while still transformed would be a good way of showing he had a nice grip on the two of the techniques.

Instinctively his hands would mash together performing the required signs for the technique as a puff of smoke appeared to reveal a mirror image of his brother Hiei.

“This is the clone technique, much like the transformation jutsu it is primarily used for the art of deception, making your enemy think you're somewhere that you aren't, while giving the real you the opportunity to escape or attack from a blind spot.”

With both techniques done he’d deactivate both the mirror image of himself disappearing and his brothers appearance dissipating as he transformed back into his usual self.

“So how did I do?” He’d ask the woman.

Rubbing her eyes, the girl murmured, "Very well, you did a good job. Here's your headband," she said as she signalled him to near her and presented him with a Konoha headband before continuing, "Good luck and fare thee well." The kunoichi gave the boy a small smile before proceeding with the next examinee.

Sento's eyes lit up at the shiny new headband that bore the crest of his village, he was a gennin now, he quickly but politely took the hard earned reward from her before thanking her and exiting the exam room, ready to begin his first day as a gennin.
