Fox and the Fiddle (Maku)
Thu Jul 06, 2017 1:12 am
Kira had just arrived at what would be her humble abode for the next few days...weeks...months..? Well for however long they were staying in Hoshi. Her quarters was petite, but comfortable. She didn’t really need much after all, just the essentials. She took of the cloak that hid her body and laid her knapsack on the desk chair before collapsing on the bed. She had spent the last few night sleeping on the hard dirt floor, so her body definitely thanked her for the cushion. She didn’t get to enjoy it long however as a white envelope taped to the door caught her attention. She debated pretending she didn’t see it, but in her current position, she knew better than to do that.
A little frustrated, the Uzumaki lifted herself up from the comforts of the mattress and made her way towards the envelope. She ripped the thing open and read it’s contents. It was a letter from none other than Maku requesting her council. She couldn’t help but sigh, but at the same time she asked for this. This is what she wanted so she’d just have to put on her game face. She pulled out a change of clothes more fitting for any political meeting she may be going to. She dressed up in slim fitting black pants, a black button up shirt, and a maroon vest. She’d however, leave the top few buttons undone. The girls had to breathe after all. Kira put her hair back into a high ponytail before proceeding out the door to the meeting spot.
She walked comfortably through the streets of Hoshi. The forgiving climate was a lot different than that of Suna’s. She almost felt like she was on vacation walking around here rather than the unforgiving heat. After a few wrong turns, Kira made her way into a local restaurant that had a few patrons. Looking like she was the first to arrive, the red haired beauty took a seat in a booth located near the back of the establishment facing the door. After waiting a few minutes, she ordered a fruity beverage, wondering who would be joining her and the golden lock boy on this little meeting.

"What is love? Baby don't hurt me, Baby don't hurt.....". His voice would wash over the restaurant. It quenched the ears thirst with its majesty. Honestly a couple people probably got pregnant. Including a buff dude with a wierd maybe Austrian accent???? Strong but it happened. No lie.
Maku had already worked his way through three talls, 7 shots, and about twelve songs. Honestly he wasn't completely sure on how many. He had visited this establishment several times, and on occasion he would be the entertainment. His fingers danced across the ivory keys, not leaving out the ebony ones. He would never discriminate, they deserved his fingers as well after all.
He had seen and sensed a familiar shinobi upon her entrance, yet he wasn't going to stop a song for anyone. Just wasn't his way, plus his jar was getting pretty full from tips. He would take note of where she sat, and then continue to sing. When he wrapped up his song he would cough once before taking another deep drink of his beer.
"This next one, is for a certain redhead, right there." He would say pointing at Kira. "I heard he spent 500 ryo on jeans, goes to the gym at least five times a week....". He would continue to sing while playing the piano. He had mentioned this meeting to both Kyson, so he was hoping both Kira and this unfamiliar man with an odd name showed.

It was a complete mystery how the red haired girl had completely missed the singing blonde playing song at the piano. At first, she mistook the questionable sounds as just another drunkard practicing for the next Ninja’s Got Talent competition. It wasn’t until the girl peeked her head over her to the sounds of a song being dedicated to a red head that she saw the man at the piano was none other than Maku... and boy was the man wasted. She had definitely mistaken this for a more ‘formal’ meeting per say, but it looked like the golden locked boy thought otherwise; that or he had so much power that he didn’t even care. A man like that could show up to a war meeting naked and no one would dare to say a word. She was going to need a few drinks.
The Uzumaki took a sip of her fruity beverage, waving to all those looking at her direction once she was put on the spot. It took a lot to embarrass the girl, this was definitely not one of those times. The beauty stood from her booth, drink in hand as she made her way towards Maku. As she approached the piano, she threw out the swirly straw and finished off the drink before facing the muscled dude with the Austrian accent. “Wanna dance stud?” She asked, placing her hand out to him. Of course, the man would not resist a dance with such a beautiful creature. He took a sip of his beer before leaving it behind on the bar counter. He took the red haired girl’s delicate hand, kissing it before leading her to the open space nearing the piano as the two began leading the dance to Maku’s country-esque type tunes. It wasn’t long before a few other pairs began dancing along too.
Unfortunately the song would eventually come to an end and the Uzumaki would bid her hunk adieu, but not before he left her his apartment number (Is that what ninjas do? considering they don’t have phones? I don’t know). Kira took a seat besides Maku on the piano while she waved the bartender for another drink. While she had her fun, There was business to be had here... or so she thought unless Maku simply invited her out for a good time. Though, that highly seemed unlikely.
“So you sing too? Is there anything you can’t do?” She asked the blonde, blue eyed male in a subtle flirtatious manner. She was a women after all, she figured she’d use that to her advantage. If Kyson did it, it’d just be weird... Unless the two of them were into that of course, Go equality! “How about we get down to Business hm? Then we can continue this part afterward.” Her drink would arrive just as she finished speaking, a little pink umbrella decorated the thin glass along with a yellow straw. She took a quick sip before continuing. “To what do I owe this pleasure of you summoning me here?"

He would finish his song as the red head sat down. His fingers would continue to play in the keyboard as her drink was sat down and she asked if there was anything he couldn't do. "I'm terrible at string instruments, and I have a hard time teleporting on the ground from time to time." He would say with a laugh as the rhythm of the keys seemed to math the sing song of his voice.
"This is business." He would say tapping the jar that was starting to get pretty full. "But alas I know of what you speak." He would say with a mock sadness that just seems to continue the impression this was all a game to him. "I'm not sure how much Kyson have spoken to you of, but I'll have certain needs soon. He is picking me a task force with my suggestions of course." Maku would say taking a break from the piano.
"The empire is getting rather large you see......need more eyes and need some unbiased opinions to go through the ranks." He would say with a large smile. He had already started to form this plan with Kyson, but he had wanted to meet with all the parties that would take place. They might not know it, but it was part of the interview process. "Maybe you'll even have a chance to show me what you can do...". He would say hitting a dramatic three keys.

“ Yeah, strings instruments can be a bitch.” She replied to how downfalls, although she had learned to play the shamisen when she was a kid. Her fleeting passion for acting has brought the necessity to learn an instrument and well, let’s just say she never got her big break. The teleporting thing she couldn’t relate to. The girl’s eyes were focused on the patrons dancing to the tunes Maku still played before she focused them back onto the blonde boy; an eyebrow perched as she referred to his other entrepreneur endeavours. The other eyebrow would raise as well as the man spoke of his ‘needs’, a quick smirk appearing on her face and disappearing just as fast as he continued.
“Well, I have eyes and no time for bullshit.” She replied in-between her large sips, the fruitiness of her beverage hiding the strong taste of alcohol. The drink was quite delicious actually and she figured she’d might as well have a third but she’d wait for the right moment to grab another. She reached the end of it however just as the dramatic three keys were played. Her lips left the neon yellow straw, her tongue savouring the flavour of the last sip she took before speaking.
“Oh, you’ll come to see I have many talents, and you’ll be surprised to see most don’t have to do with my girls.” She said in a flavourful mood, hopefully Maku catching on that she was referring to her breasts. She was quite the flirt, it’s to most surprise that she was still a pure as a nun though. She just occasionally had the mouth of a trailer park whore. She found amusement in it though as everyone typical had a different reaction, and some boys often thought with the wrong head. She probably shouldn’t be talking to her superior in such a manner but didn’t seem like he’d care. He did show up to the meeting completely plastered after all.
“So, what is it that you need me to do exactly? Be a part of this task force? Or did you have something else in mind.” Her eyes suddenly caught the waiters. A quick smile and a shake of her glass was all it took for him to start preparing her the next one. Her eyes quickly fell back in Maku as she awaited his response. You never knew what was going to leave his unfiltered mouth but it was one of the things the heterochromatic eyed girl actually liked about the guy; putting aside the fact he took over her village and all.

"Not in so many words." He would say at her comment of joining the task force. There were a certain other pair he had in mind for storm, but having to many eggs in a single basket was unwise. While she may wish to usurp Kyson now, it wouldn't be hard for loyalty to bloom. Especially in a tight it group. Often the sergeant has more respect than the captain, best to keep it from ever having a chance to flower.
"As I said, an unbiased opinion. Kyson and his group will have their own missions, goals, and duties. You may time to time find yourself aligned with one or two of them, but ultimately well you will report to me." His fingers continued to dance across the keys, though his eyes looked into hers. He had long sense memorized the keys and strokes, and how to make the machine play. It was the same talents that had allowed him to finesse his jutsu to the levels they were known. Something he hoped Kyson would pick up on in due time.
"If you don't think it'll take you away from your children." He would say, competent missing her hints at flirting. Now Maku himself may be a flirt, but in no way does that mean he always picks up on it. He would say it in such confidence, in fact it would be hard to tell if he was serious or was making a joke back. In his head however, he was already moving on to the next goal, even if his mouth was still on this one.
"Scoping out the various villages, recruiting their former shinobi, buying allegiance, and selling some snake oil.........sound like something you can do?" He would say. He played four more cords and abruptly stopped to the chagrin of the patrons. He looked at her, all traces of alcohol gone from his eyes. He was only one man, and to constantly keep up the empire was impossible. It reached so much farther than a war here and there. It reached so much further than the crown that was destined to be bronzed by his golden hair, what it means had all to do with the words of a priest, as his foot stood on the precipice of death.

The Uzumaki listened to the boy with patience. The fact that he didn’t want her being part of this task force didn’t necessarily strike the wrong key; In fact, she was more pleased to find out she’d be working on her own. She was more of a lone wolf anyway. Kira held his gaze as his fingers continued to play the keys flawlessly. It was’t until his remark about her children that her confident gaze turned to one with a raised eyebrow. However she was quick to catch the beat with a reply. “My girls come with me everywhere.” She perked up one of her breasts, catching the quick glimpse of a patron as she blew him a wink. She could have sworn she saw him swoon. If the flirtatious move had failed to hit its mark this time... Well, Kira would just let it go. You could only beat a dog so much before it became abuse.
The red haired listened to what would be asked of her just as her third drink arrived. She used the straw to mix its contents. Her role seemed to be that of an Informant, A Recruit, as well as a Liaison between Kumo and the other villages. She wasn’t sure exactly where the snake oil played in all this, but hell could she pitch a product if she had to. Get your Snake Oil today, it’ll have you slipping from your opponent’s grasp! Snake Oil perfect for those intimate moments with your partner! Get it now for 3 low payment of 1200 Ryo!
“Seems fairly manageable.” She replied, confident that she could handle the task. She wasn’t sure if she was relieved or disappointed that her recent future would be nothing but travels to different countries. On one hand, she’d be on her own with no one watching over her, and possibly have the opportunity to search for her family since that opportunity was robbed from her due to Maku’s Siege on Suna. On the other, it left her with little time to for R&R. A girl gotta relax dammit. “Anywhere you want me to head out to first?” She asked, not knowing if Maku had certain villages planned over others as she began weighing her new job description. She grasped at her straw and took another swig as she let her eyes wonder along with her thoughts.

Maku complete whiffed the attempts at any kind of flirting. He was the flirt not the one that recognized flirtings. So, this was lost on him and he stared at Kira with a puzzled look.
Snapping back to the task at hand he finished his cup, and played a mournful tune for a second. "Iwagakure, that's the next true conquest outside these walls. I hope to meet with Konoha when I hear from them. So, to answer your question I'm not sure." He would say with a laugh.
There was still so much to do. He would need her to visit all the places, and that would take time and excessive travel. "Kysons Storm will likely follow me to Iwa when the troops move out. You will stick with them first, then I will receive report and your destination, well it will be determined then."
He would continue to play, thinking if there was anything else. "The party will be soon, it's gonna be one hell of a bang, don't miss it." As he hit the keys his form would look at her and seem to shimmer before dissipating. Almost like he had been an illusion all along. The space time clone was a byproduct of the trail of the trickster jutsu. He had a date, with an ugly son of a bitch, but he had the wagons, and he needed them to make their way out soon.

Kira listened to the boy’s words as her destination at this point in time was unknown. Kira was about to speak up, and tell him about her connections in Konoha, but just like that he was gone. Maku sure was a impatient mother trucker. The Uzumaki chugged the rest of her drink and left through the doors, using the money from the tip jar to pay for them.
