Missing Pets (Open)
Fri Jan 26, 2018 11:35 am
- mission details:
- Mission Name:Missing pets.
Rank:D-Rank
Type:Capture
Character Requirements:N/A
Mission Location:Kumogakure, Village.
Word Count Requirements:2000
Repeatable?Yes.
NPC?N/A
Reward:1000
Task:
A few cats belonging to an old lady have ran away, she requested help on getting them back. Your job is to find the five missing cats and bring them home
The scenery of the hidden cloud was something to behold in the winter. While almost every other season the village appeared morbid and depressed, not even the undead army outside its gates could deny the beauty of a mountain villages winter. White snow blanketed the muddy fields, covering the usual brown murky terrain in a beautiful blanket. The buildings which normally looked run down and abandoned near the front of the village were strangely complimented by the white backdrop. And the sounds of the undead where fully nullified by the roaring winter wind.
And the scenery wasn’t the only thing to transform. It was as if kumogakure was something other than itself in the winter, and it’s people appreciated it, they were more outgoing and friendly during this time of year than any other season. Ikigai especially loved the winter, it was his favorite time of year, during it he got a break from master Hakai’s famous sword academy and had more time to do whatever he wanted. He’d have to go back in a couple of weeks, but for now, he had the world to himself.
He’d put aside today to earn some cash by doing missions, and was on his way to woman's house with his mission details in hand. Some old lady had lost her cat’s and if they were not found soon they risked freezing to death. It was Ikigai responsibility to find them before that could happen.

Yasumi was thrilled. Her first job and with that the first time for her to be able to earn money. She would read the details carefully and smile a little at the task: catching cats that had run away from home? In this winter this was a need. Poor things maybe not finding their way home and then freeze not on her watch. She had put on a scarf and a glove because it was not that warm for her as well and packed some treats she intended to use as bait. She had tightly braided her hair into a long tight braid so that hair would not get in her way because animals tended to play with loose strands. So she told her brother where she was going who had come home early this morning from a night shift in the bar. He yawned some kind of agreement and then she would walk over to the address of the woman given in the description of the job.
In front of the house she would wrap her headband around her neck like a second scarf and then as she wanted to extend her hand and knock on the door she could hear footsteps in the snow. Slowly she would turn her head and then see Ikagai coming towards her. She blinked a little looking at him curiously. He had something odd about him, but it also made him look interesting. "Hello, are you here to look for the missing cats as well?", she would look up and down, there was a Kumo headband wasn't it?

It had been quite a while since Komori had done any simple missions within the village. He had been out and about, traveling across the countries of the world before coming back to Kumo, where he had not done much besides guard the village. He felt like giving back to the village, in a small way. Helping the little guy out. Or in this case, an old lady who had too many cats to keep track of. He had not had to do this task since… since he was a genin, back with Komon and Senshi. That day, the trio had gone on five separate tasks, completing all of them with relative ease. This woman must have a hard time keeping track of so many cats. But unlike last time, Komori would not have to do all the work. Instead, he had been told of a couple genin that would be joining, both of whom he did not recognize. Newbies.
Walking down a sidewalk, he neared the address of the client, where he saw two young looking children who were more distinctive than most everyone else in the village. This must be them. Komori had arrived at the home of the old woman, who might be able to recognize him from last time. But then again, it had been well over a year, even more. He was not just some kid anymore, he had grown into his role as a protector of the village, getting in over his head. Today was a day to relax, after all, winter was his favorite time of year. He was even wearing one of his favorite jackets, that had been designed to resemble the old one his mom had made for him. He had grown out of it but still kept it around for sentimental reasons.
Komori chose to watch from a distance, not letting the kids know he was here by masking his chakra. He had no knowledge as to whether they were expecting him or not, he would wait for the pair to introduce themselves to each other and enter the home of the woman before walking up the pathway himself. After the two genin had entered the home, Komori would be leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed, listening from his spot and planning to introduce himself to the kiddos after granny cat lady had finished telling them about all her cats.

As Ikigai made his way to the old ladies house he’d make out the shape of another genin. Small in stature, clearly missing an arm. wonder how she got that He’d think to himself before deciding it would be rude to ask. She’d speak first, asking him if he was here for the mission. She was clearly looking at his forhead to see if he was wearing a genin’s headband but Ikigai would motion towards his chest, where his strap buckle rested. There the kumogakure insignia would rest.
“Yeah, The name’s Ikigai. What’s yours?” He’d say extending his hand to shake hers, while being extra careful to make sure he’d angle it so that her non missing hand would comfortably meet his. The two were in front of the old woman’s house now, and all they had to do was knock. Assuming Yasumi introduced herself, the hoshigaki would take the lead, and do just that.
It would take a while for the elderly woman to reach the door, being old and all. But when she got their and opened the door Ikigai would speak. “Hi, were here to find your cats?”, it was more of a question than a statement, making sure they were in the right place.

The young man had seen her efforts to look for his headband and she chuckled as he directed her to his chest where she got to see the headband and smiled. After he introduced himself he would extend his hand in a comfortable direction. She reached out with her left and smiled at him shaking it with a firm grab. Not too strong but also not like a dead leaf in his hand. "Nice to meet you I am Yasumi Sora", after that she would make a curtsy and look at him knocking on the door. In front of him and after some moments it would open and a sweet old lady stood there. She was walking a little crutched holding onto a cane or something. Her steps shaky and her eyes a little bad but she had a pair of glasses on her nose. The hair was tide in a knot on her head and she had this grandmotherly smile on her face. When her partner introduced him she would bow as well and she would smile: "Ohh such lovely young folks, please come in...", she would wave her hand and step aside to let them into her home and Yasumi would follow the invitation stepping inside and taking a look around.
Beside the furniture that screamed old lady some other cats were still straying around. Meowing and purring at the guests entering. It was a quite lively household with still many cats to go. Amazing that she saw that there were some missing? "I have pictures of my missing babies. You have to be quick or they will die in this weather", she would slowly waddle towards the living room and from a table she would pick up four pictures of cats. The first picture was showing a beautiful tom with tiger stripes in red and orange, mesmerizing green eyes and white paws. The second being sand coloured and lighter marbled she cat with a white underbelly and tawny coloured eyes. Third was an endearing small cat almost a kitten still in full black with only a white dot on the nose and yellow eyes. Fourth being a big rarity although the lady might not know about it but she had a male calico cat. It was rare because those tricoloured cats usually only came as females but she had this one because she loved it not because she knew its worth. The last one had a kind of wild fur pattern almost like a leopard or something and it seemed bigger than the others with a light brown pelt and those black dots.

So. Many. Cats.
Komori stood in the doorway, letting the breeze come in before closing it behind him softly. Now seemed to be a good as time as any. “Sorry, I’m late.” Komori smiled walking into the main room, surrounded by cats. One such black cat with green eyes began to purr and rub against the jounin’s leg. “Hey, buddy. I remember you, too.” He stooped down to pet the cat he had once sprayed with an absurd amount of water, scratching behind its ear. It seemed to have forgiven him from last time. He looked up towards the two unknown genin, spotting their headbands. He himself had taken to wearing his around his waist. The jounin extended his hands to the both of them, his left for Yasumi to shake and his right for Shark Boy. If only Yasumi was a Terumi, then she could be Lava Girl. Missed opportunity.
“Name’s Komori Hozuki. I’m the jounin appointed to watch over your mission for today.” He smiled as he said this, before he moved to greet the elderly woman, looking at all of the photos in the room as he walked towards her. “Good day, ma’am,” Komori made eye contact for a moment before noting which cats were present and which weren’t, based on the pictures. “You don’t need to worry. Our job today is to help make sure your pets are returned to you safely.” Another friendly smile. “Oh, deary, they’re not pets,” she said, adjusting her glasses, “They’re family.” She looked at the three shinobi hopefully. “Even more reason to find them.” He nodded to the two genin, who should proceed to follow him out the door, unless they felt the need to ask anything else about the mission or to ask any follow up questions to the woman.

Ikigai's eyebrow raised at the girl's introduction. ...Did she just curtsy? A bit formal for a kumo girl. He'd think to himself as the pair made their way into the woman's house. It was pretty badly kept, dust everywhere, and reeked of cat piss. Purring could be heard in all directions and every table and shelf in the house, had pictures of her many feline friends resting on top of them.
This is one strange lady Ikigai didn't say much while in the house, instead he listened to the woman voice her concerns about the lost and missing "Babies", while memorizing the faces of the many soon to be frozen Popsicles. That was when a stranger entered, he was tall with black hair, and was clearly a higher rank than gennin. "Sorry I'm late" Ikigai would simply nod at the apology, and step out of the mans way as he took control of the questions.
Ikigai would then zone out for the most part, waiting to be able to go find the animals, before his eyes would visibly roll as the lady called the animals her family. Eventually the man would depart from the apartment, and ikigai would follow suit, assuming yasumi would do the same. "So who are you anyway mister? He'd ask as they stepped onto the street.

Yasu had no more questions but she would take the pictures so the missing cats could be identified quickly and then she would follow outside. Komori Houzoki the name rang a bell where had she heard it before? She closed her eyes and tried to remember when it got to her. She could recall a stadium full of enthusiastic people and a crowd of girls screaming a name on the top of their lunges. The echo's of their excited screams where ringing in her ears as she opened her eyes again and point at him, which looked confusing because in a reflex she had extended her stump instead of her left arm like she tried to get used to: "You are Komon-senseis twin brother, Komori-san!", she would try to think back, had this mission been marked so dangerous that they needed someone of that rank and ability join them? Slowly she would put down her arm. Maybe it was because of her? She had been quite a difficult student and this was her first assignment although it was only catching cats well, he at least seemed nicer from a closer look and a controlling glance left and right, no fan girls around either, this could have become difficult with them around. "It is an honour to meet you", she would then complete her greeting bowing lightly towards him.
She would smile at Ikigaki: "We are under good supervision I suppose", then she would look around, "Where would I go when I was a runaway cat in this weather? To somewhere where there is food or warmth, maybe a dumpster behind a restaurant?", she would laugh at the picture of a quite fat cat lying on top of a tiny mountain of noodles.

Before he could respond to Ikigai, Yasumi blurted out the answer to his question. He let out a small laugh. “Yeah, you got it. I’m one of the infamous twins of the Cloud. The better looking one, to be precise.” He kept walking forwards, his head turned back to address the two. He turned around to face the two, continually walking backwards as he did so. “Pleasure’s all mine, Miss Sora,” he mimicked her mannerisms and bowed to her as well. He then listened to the theory that Yasumi had and nodded along as she did so. “That’s not a bad idea. This woman’s cats have run off before. I remember catching ‘em a few years ago, back when I was a genin. The one that was rubbing against my leg was found in a box in an alleyway. Another cat was hiding behind a dumpster not far from it, as well.” He looked towards Shark Boy, who had been rather quiet since his arrival. He could tell from facial features that the boy was younger than him, but he was also two inches taller than the 6’ jounin. “How about you lead the way, Ikigai.” Although the boy had never stated his name directly, Komori knew it from two different sources: the mission documents that stated which shinobi had been assigned this duty, as well as the boy’s own introduction to Yasumi outside of the woman’s house. Komori had superb hearing from years as a fighter. “Know any good restaurants around here?” His job was not to lead them and catch cats himself. Rather, he was here to observe two of the newer Kumogakure genin, really only helping if the mission was at risk of failure. Despite this being their first mission, Komori was allowing them to take the lead here, much like his former mentor Senshi had carried out missions.

Infamous twins of the hidden cloud? Ikigai thought, it had a nice ring to it admittedly. But the man seemed awfully confident in his physical appearance. Perhaps it was because he looked more shark than man, but Ikigai had never put much value in looks. His beady eyes would scan the streets as the trio walked, until Komori suggested that Ikigai take the lead.
The shark boy had no problem with the proposition, and would nod at the mention of it before picking up the pace, to reach the front end of the group. “I think there’s a pretty good seafood place up ahead. They’re probably hanging out in the dumpster behind it, munching on some leftover fish.” It was a fair guess, and he’d be dead set on heading there.
As they grew nearer he could smell the food and his mouth would water. Nothing got him going like the smell of fish. And as if to reaffirm his hypothesis the purring of 3 cats could be heard from the dumpster. “Yasumi, wanna go check if those are hers?” He’d say before following up with another statement. “I think you got the best look at those pictures while we were in the house”
