Priestly Conviction (Hunter Mission)

As Enishi was finishing handseals for the Swamp jutsu he had planned for this public market, Shiroyasha nodded at his advisory details of the jutsu. With his three Tomoe stationary while he searched for Dicks chakra his eyes darted to where Dick Burns, thief of the holy relic, was stepping closer. His chakra signature was hidden now, but the goofy get up of this Haven Countryman was unmistakable.  

Enishi released the Swamp, and Dick Burns unleashed the fires. The thief didnt seem worried as he fired his fireballs first downward. The flames went in all directions as he continued shooting Phoenix fire. The thief steadied his ground to stand on without mud, and Shiroyasha dashed backwards where Enishi had advised. As his next fireballs came forward, Shiro was prepared and quickly dashed 3.5 meters like Enishi said.

As he glided across the cobblestone Shiroyasha focused on his enemy who was firing more fireballs, however his 3.5 meter dash was an effective method of dodging. At a new angle now, and still with Dick in his sights; Shiroyasha swiftly tied his hands together, one after another the ninja formed the lightning release chakra of Chidori Senbon. Arcing both arms in front of him Shiroyasha released 50 lightning senbon at Dick Burns. 

While his attack was firing, Shiro wondered if Enishi had a new plan to counter his swamps destruction. Deciding not to wait, before the last senbon fired, or the fireballs could have their trajectory adjusted, Shiroyasha prepared for a double strike.

The senbon had still yet to reach Richard when the Uchiha saw rising fireballs that he had not expected. Shiroyasha ran his fastest in the same direction he had dodged the first fireball aimed at him. Now in an evasive maneuver he was jumping over the structural compound of the market. 

Leaving his flurry of Chidori Senbon to strike, he ran his fastest and Shiroyasha was planning to flank. He continued to move in the same direction, and adjusted his trajectory to head towards Dick.

Shiroyasha was running around the face of their circular battlefield. Leaving behind an explosion of flames from above, the Uchiha was flanking his enemy. The fireballs above were slated for impact where the ninja had first dodged to and the Chidori Senbon where coming from; fire was raining from above as Shiroyasha hopped through a market stall and out of sight from where Dick was standing near their original position.

While the understudy began to activate his Swamp of the Underworld to trap a potential thief as well as move back to not get caught in his ensnarement, it would seem that someone had blended into the environment to take out Enishi and Shiroyasha. While the crowd of civilians were running for their lives, Richard would take advantage of the disarray, using this time to advance towards the Genin and prepare for a counterattack once Enishi finished his handseals. Unbeknownst to Enishi, he played right into the thief's trap. Once the swamp began to expand, the understudy would finally be able to make out Richard now that the crowd finished running away - gaudy outfit and all; however, he couldn't truly pay attention to the man as clouding the boy's vision were six fireballs launched at different angles towards the two boys with ten meters of distance separating the teens and the projectiles. Two were aimed directly at the swamp's origin in an attempt to destroy the terraforming earth. The rest were launched in the air at a precise forty-five-degree angle, aiming to rain down hellfire on the boy's positions upon reaching an appropriate apex in the air. Despite the sudden change in events, the fireballs launched towards Enishi would leave the Jugo more than enough time to react.

Using the corner of his eye while he began moving back to see that Shiroyasha was attempting to move diagonally right to dodge the fireballs, Enishi would autocorrect his movement, now moving three and a half meters diagonally left to mirror Shiro while not colliding with him nor the possible activation of his technique. As he moved backward, he would form the seals of Ram, Tiger, Boar, and Snake in rapid succession - making sure that he would save time while also paying attention to the fireballs headed towards him in differing angles. As he finished forming these handseals, the two fireballs would have impacted the swamp - destroying it instantly and turning the ground back to normal while also being the same time that he would have finished his three and a half meter diagonal left dash to dodge the fireballs. The four fireballs in the air, however, would have met their apex, 5 meters in the air and about 3 meters away from the two at this point, so they would begin to rain down at a 90-degree angle at high speeds. 

The moment the fireballs rained down, Enishi would instantly gather the Nature Energy coursing through his veins while taking a short breath. Usually, he would have gone crazy due to the influx of nature chakra that he was unleashing...but this time, he could control it. His skin would darken to a tan color and his emerald eyes would blacken in a flash of stygian green, and in that moment...the understudy was empowered. He would activate the jutsu he weaved handseals for, as the ground in his position would soften to the point that his body sunk under it at blistering speeds to evade the fireballs launched towards him. Hopefully, Shiroyasha would have gotten out of the way.

Sinking a foot under the ground, the understudy would be able to sense everything within 20 meters of himself. From Shiroyasha's movements and Richard's movements, he was able to track anything that came within his domain. This would free up more room for Shiro to perform his techniques and would also allow the Jugo to track anything that stepped or influenced the earth within that range. He wanted to see how Shiro would fare against the thief and he also wanted to study the thief's actions more to gain a better idea of his opponents. So in the meantime, Enishi would stay under the comfort of the ground, 15.5 meters away from Dick. He would also keep his 5 meters Chakra Sensory active, adding an extra layer of being ready to react to anything within the two ranges of Sensory.

After shooting off all 6 fireballs before he moved back, staying out of the way of the 4m explosion that had come from his fireball, the other flowers of Katon chakra continued to fly through the air. Since they were shot one after the other, by the time he had made it back to his position 12 meters away from the two, the rest was in their hands. While the fireballs continued to fly, Dick couldn't help but notice the two moving in unison away slightly, right into the path of the two outermost fireballs that he had sent out. They had their trajectory turned nearly right after the explosion happened on the puddle of mud that Enishi tried to form, and had headed a 45-degree angle downward. Richard couldn't wait to see how the two shinobi responded. 

The one to the right, diagonal of him (from his perspective) Enishi, had been smart. Dick noticed that his skin turned darker, and he looked like he had undergone some sort of power enhancement. This could get pretty tricky pretty soon, and Dick wasn't looking forward to that. The man to the left diagonal of him, however, seemed to be a bit clueless as a ninja. Maybe this was his first mission. Stopping in his tracks, the man had begun to form hand-seals. Once they were about to be finished, of course, the Phoenix Flower fireball came crashing down with the center 1.5 meters in front of him, quickly exploding and enveloping him in the flames, just as soon as he would begin to spread his arms to try and use some sort of technique. Nothing came of the technique, it was likely weaker than Dick Burns'. The man was just now enveloped in a burst of flames, the Katon chakra and heat likely preventing him from seeing as well as he could normally. Keeping one eye on Enishi, Dick noticed that he was able to quickly slip underground, avoiding the fireball. Richard secretly hoped that the man's hair at least was singed, but it was too close of a call to know for sure. 

Richard would keep his eye on the battlefield, making sure that no sudden movements were made, and he was prepared to deal with just about anything that would come his way. He was ready for any sort of movements or jutsu that he might need to use and continued in his mind plotting about the different ways that he could escape. 

As a young man, Richard wasn't the type of person that anyone would want to shake a stick at. He was simply a petty thief, and sadly, not much has changed. He only really cared about the thrill of the battle and the different ways that he could find a way to make ends meet. It wasn't the best life for anyone, though it was one that made him feel at home. This battle was one of the toughest he'd faced, and at some point, during the conflict, it's likely that he wondered if he'd ever make it out alive.

Shiroyasha was on fire now.. and had a heart attack. Burning up in the flames Shiro began having a heart attack. Before anyone could do anything further he died of explicitly direct pain. Falling to the ground, his charred up corpse was lifeless.

Richard watches the fireball come down, and begins to move backwards as the aftermath unfolds. Immediately, he begins to form hand-seals for the transparent escape technique. After these seals, he turned invisible, unable to be seen by the human eye. As he's moving backwards, Dick noticed that Shiryoyasha had been singed and had a heart attack immediately, with his eyes open in shock. Because of this, it seemed like his eyes were cooked directly from the explosion of the fireball, essentially ruining them from ever being used. Dick wasn't really the type to be violent with others, especially not village shinobi, though it seemed like the person had walked into their own demise. 

Ignoring this gruesome sight, Richard ran full speed back towards the wall of the market at the 12 o'clock position and began to run straight up the wall to escape. The wall was only 10 meters high, and once he made it over he would be able to make it outside of the area that they were in, and quickly change his outfit. It looked like Richard had made it out of another slippery situation, though he was worried about the future. He had a feeling these shinobi wouldn't stop hunting him, though for the time being he'd be able to hide. Once he was outside of the borders of the wall, it would take any pursuer quite a while to be able to reach his position afterward, and he'd find a building outside that he'd used for escapes many times. This building had a secret trap-door underneath, and he would quickly hide underneath, and begin heading to the center of where he and other thieves ran to whenever they had to wait for the heat to die down. 

Richard was a bit anxious about it, even if he did escape, considering his opponents. It had seemed like he was facing off against some adversaries that meant business. Usually, he only had to deal with the run-of-the-mill shinobi guards that were outsmarted with simple moves and some fast footwork. This time, however, he had felt a real tinge of danger down his spine, especially considering that there was two ninjas. Richard wasn't exactly the best thief that had ever existed, though he did pride himself in one thing. When he set his mind to a job, he was able to pull it off. It wasn't the easiest thing that he had ever done, but it was his life. Many years of doing the same kind of tasks shape and mold someone's mind to be hardened. They're less likely to fall victim to the same mistakes as those that came before them, and would always be learning so that someday, those who came after them would be better suited for combat. This life was the one that Dick Burns chose. It wasn't one decided for him, rather, it was one that he couldn't keep himself from. His actions today only confirmed it. Richard would continue to be a thief.

Ah, yes. Sweet freedom. Dick had made it away safely and was out of the range of the ninja who had been chasing him. It was a well-fought battle, and he genuinely thought that he was going to die at many moments throughout. As much as he wanted to take both of them down, he wanted to cut his losses while he was still there and get the heck out of there. It wasn't every day that he was actually caught for his dirty deeds. They were definitely not dirt cheap, either. In any case, Dick was happy to be in the clear, with his new spitoon cup in grasp. It was essential, he felt, that he was able to continue his line of work. There were people that depended on him. His son, Chester, and his wife Donit. As he got home, he scruffled Chest Burns' head and gave the beautiful maiden of the household, who had taken his last name many years before. She knew of his struggles and stuck with him all the way. Burns, Dontit. She was an absolute sweetheart and supported him through everything. 

Laying back in his recliner, he wonders if he would ever get a chance to be hunted again, or if this was just a one-off battle. Considering the heat he had been picking up in this village as of late, he briefly considered moving to another place. Maybe somewhere a bit more secluded. He had read in brochures that Kumogakure was a home of some people, though he doubted their abilities to catch him. Perhaps that would be the next place that he set his sights on. In any case, today wouldn't be the end of Dick Burns, though he would likely go into hiding for quite some time. It wouldn't be easy to manage all of the things that he had on his plate for the coming months, though he felt a calling. He felt as if that was his purpose, and what he should do. Stretching out, he stares at the ceiling. Chester was happily playing with his toys, while Richard had a mouth full of chaw that was slowly disintegrating in his mouth, the particles being spit into the holy relic that was now his new spittoon. It wasn't the worst day ever, though it could've been better.

As Enishi's body began to sink underground, he saw something truly horrific...Shiroyasha was in the direct line of fire for the flaming projectiles to explode and burn his body to crips. The fire would quickly expand to him and envelop the Uchiha's feeble attempt at countering the hellish explosion, soon enveloping him...and that was the last thing the understudy saw before he was completely submerged in the ground. "...Don't die..." Enishi thought as he saw the last bits of Shiroyasha be engulfed by the flames. The Jugo was used to death and destruction; however, he didn't enjoy it, doubly so considering that it was concerning the death of a Hoshigakure shinobi - someone affiliated to the village he held to such high regard. He was a medic...but he couldn't resurrect the dead, no matter how vexing it was. So the only thing he could do now was hope that Shiroyasha would survive. It was a gamble, but every mission a shinobi takes bore the risk of death. To be a shinobi is to gamble with life and death.

As Enishi's body was borderline submerged with the ground...he felt something rather interesting occurring within 20 meters of him. "He's running?!" His mind ran quicker than his body, as it would become apparent due to the vibrations detected through the usage of the Hiding Like a Mole technique. Rising immediately as the explosions of fire dimmed out, he expected to see the man - Dick Burns in gaudy clothing once again...but as he rose from the hellfire, he disappeared. The whole area that was once a lively marketplace full of life and jubilation...was utterly deserted. Everyone due to the alarming presence of Dick Burns - master of thievery, escaped for their dear lives, leaving all parts of the marketplace barren. Rain dripped down, filling the craters of fireballs and washing out any sort of flames on the ground. The rain rolled down the understudy's visage, blurring his vision as the droplets of water soon turned to showers - torrents of cascading rain drizzling down the marketplaces of Hoshigakure. The rain seemed to fizz out the Jugo's Berserk Sage Transformation as well, as the natural energy coursing through his body dimmed out like a candle reaching its denouement. Enishi looked up, in an utterly stupefied state. Dick Burns was nowhere to be seen. He escaped. He would continue to terrorize lives throughout the Ninja World, only because the understudy was too slow to catch him. Enishi failed the mission and potentially caused many more lives to be lost because of his lack of agency. The Jugo, distraught in self-hate, turned to see if there were any more ways to catch Dick Burns...but the only thing he saw...

Was the corpse of Shiroyasha Uchiha.

Missions always had the risk of someone dying - that was the life one resigned themselves for once they put on the headband of their village. Everyone - especially Enishi - knew that there was the possibility of someone dying during a mission. It was common knowledge. But, if it was so agreed upon...

Why was it so painful?

"DAMN IT!" His roar was guttural, marred with ire yet barbed with guilt. In a voice so uncharacteristic of the methodically composed understudy, he finally lost his cool. His rage, frustration, weakness, and sorrow were at full display. It was so long - so damn long since the Jugo had seen a corpse at full display, and now...it was a death that could have been easily avoided. The Medical Genius - with haphazard and uncoordinated steps, sped towards the corpse. Shiroyasha was on fire, but due to the sudden rain which fizzed out any remnants of the Phoenix Fire Technique, the flames didn't char his whole body, merely his upper body with sections of his face; it could be preserved for further investigation and perhaps give clues on Dick's potential chakra signature. However, Enishi wasn't thinking of that. His emotions were spiraling out of control. He knew it was improbable - no IMPOSSIBLE to try what he was going to do...but Shiro didn't deserve to die. Every life had value. Forming handseals in a frantic melody as he rushed towards the lifeless charred body of Shiro, chakra blazed in his right hand. It was the Mystical Palm technique, one of the strongest and most useful Medical Ninjutsu in the world... Thrusting his right hand on top of Shiro's fried chest, he concentrated and concentrated. "C'mon. C'mon. C'mon damn it!" 

Minutes passed. The rain was incessant, continuing to shower the marketplace without any sort of delay. The cold hard truth would reveal itself. Shiroyasha Uchiha was truly dead. Non-esoteric Medical Ninjutsu could not bring back the dead. The Mystical Palm technique would regenerate most of the burns on Shiroyasha's body, repairing the burned nerves on his upper body and even healing sections of his eyes - though, in order for it to be completely preserved, it would have to be looked at by a better Iryojutsu specialist. Enishi's attempt at trying to bring back the dead would fail miserably.

Standing up without a single word as if accepting the truth, his messy wet hair would cloud a great chunk of his vision. The showering rain also made it a strenuous activity to see, however, the Jugo resolved himself to make something out of this situation. He didn't know if Shiroyasha had any family members, but...maybe if he could preserve the body, then a funeral could be done to properly allow the young Uchiha to pass on to the afterlife as well as quell the suffering that his family would endure once hearing the news. Guilt was still present in Enishi, but he wouldn't dwell on it. The guilt would surely haunt him, but he would use it as drive to prevent any more situations like this from happening. Slinging the corpse on his back, Enishi would dash towards the hospital at breakneck speeds.
