The Kazekage ordered them to destroy the puppet and take the core. Of course they would do as ordered, or at least Kaito would. He acted fast, swiftly removing life from the puppet with his own bare hands. All seemed to be in order so Yusuke released his jutsu and the puppet plopped gently to the ground. Yusuke wanted to stand on ceremony, bask in his triumph, and, most importantly, speak with the other Sarutobi. Unfortunately, time was simply not on his side. 17..16…15…

All of the shinobi turned to run. Yusuke lingered for a moment questioning what it meant for a puppet to have life. Did we kill something or not? The idea of a living puppet was recorded in the Suna libraries. The village had once tried to create such a thing; he wondered if this had ended with less sacrifice. A living puppet’s creation was a very costly procedure according to his reading. Yusuke looked at the husk that was before him. ..14..13…12…11 These numbers had passed during his contemplation.

Is it wrong to kill? Yusuke wondered but knew this wasn’t the time. He didn’t want to fall too far behind the other members of his group. He weaved two hand signs and his image flickered and then vanished away from the puppet’s location. Yusuke then appeared next to Guren as they raced back towards the festival grounds. He started to speak but held it in. The others were already on to talks of conspiracy. That seemed more important than his own conscience or his curiosity at the origins of their non sand dwelling companion. A shinobi was a weapon so of course they have to kill. It would have killed us if we didn’t stop it. He pushed the thoughts to the back of his mind with those simple truths. He would be able to resolve himself knowing that the puppet’s death was important in protecting the others here. It was also nice to have saved a few trees.

A loud explosion could be heard in the background, but no one seemed to notice, not even Yusuke.
