Food Shopping [Mission]

It was a beautiful day and Howl had awoken with an intense determination to have a nice lunch outside by the bay. Howl started his day getting dressing in his Inn room, putting on his white blouse and black pants and had a brief conversation with the cute girl working at the receptionist desk. Howl had been accruing a generous amount of Ryo since arriving in the village. He had stumbled into some rather lucrative opportunities and continued to attract odd jobs which were paying well. Howl exited the Inn and started down the street towards an array of shops where he would purchase what he needed for his little picknick.

Howl entered the first shop and was greeted by the most delicious smell. The width of the store was narrow, but the actual building was long. Howl nimbly navigated shelves containing freshly baked bread and ventured towards the back of the store where the delicious smell was radiating from. A particularly tasty looking desert caught Howl’s eye and while he wasn’t paying attention to where he was going, he walked into something. He wasn’t walking fast, and Howl’s figure wasn’t necessarily large so he didn’t knock over whatever it was that he had bumped into. “Excuse…me…” a quiet voice said, Howl now looking down. There was a little old lady wearing a scarf around her head struggling to pick something up that Howl had knocked out of her hand. “I’ll get that for you!” Howl said, scrambling to pick up the jar of jam that she had dropped. Howl moved much quicker than the ancient being before him. He had been able to bend over and retrieve the jar before the little old lady could finish her grabbing motion towards the floor. “Here you go.” Howl said, holding the jar out to her. It felt like an eternity waiting for the old lady to raise her hand and take the jar from him. Feeling guilty, Howl offered his assistance to the old woman. “Would you like some help?” Howl said, guiltily. “That would be lovely.” She responded, accepting his help. The duo walked very slowly around the rest of the shop and Howl stooped and extended his arms to secure various goods for the old lady. By the time she was done shopping, Howl was holding at least a dozen bags awkwardly in his hands. Howl wondered how she ever planned to buy all this stuff herself, but figured she was just taking advantage of Howl’s generosity. Howl helped the woman pay and then carried her groceries all the way back to her home. She had not lived far from where Howl was currently staying and when they arrived to her small home, she invited him inside to carry in the rest of her groceries, which he did. She was a nice woman and made Howl some tea after he finished helping her put her groceries away. “You’re so handsome.” She said, as Howl sipped his tea. Feeling uncomfortable, Howl would stand up and announce that he had somewhere to be and before leaving, the little old woman stuffed some money into his hand. “That’s for helping grandma like a good boy.” Feeling strange, Howl accepted the money, then left.
