Nokino's Training #1: The Start of Something Great

Tatsuo watched carefully as Himari demonstrated her feint and block maneuver, listening intently. He lifted his arms in a defensive position, mimicking her movements. When she told him to try and attack her with a feint, he nodded, squaring up with her and releasing a steady breath. He was so much younger than she was, he wasn’t sure that his speed could match her. But this was practice, right? Surely she wouldn’t stop him before he had the chance to do the technique properly.

‘The purpose of a feint is to mislead,’ he recited in his head, dashing towards her and throwing his leg out in a kick aimed at her leg (60 speed). He watched as she reacted to block it, before he pulled it away at the last second and launched his fist at the opening in her face, holding back his power and tapping her jaw with a small grin. Then, he pulled back to reset. For his next attack, he swung his arm in an overhead strike to Himari’s neck, pulling back when she moved to block it and using his other hand to lodge a punch into her exposed stomach, holding his power back as he did previously. “I think I’m getting the hang of it!” he said cheerfully, turning into a back kick before pulling his leading leg back and jumping into a higher, spinning kick with his opposite leg.

Suddenly, a large explosion seemed to shake the wall that they were training on top of, and Tatsuo landed on his feet, using his chakra quickly to stick to the surface and not topple off. When he looked to see what the commotion was, it was apparently Nokino showing off some big jutsu and destroying part of the wall. He blinked at her a few times, wondering what that move was that she just did, before she started shouting at them again. In an instant, the wall beneath them disappeared, and it was all Tatsuo could do to try and navigate his movements so he landed in a way that he didn’t injure himself.

It was still a rough landing. The small Uchiha boy rolled across the ground, laying crumpled up and clutching his head with a low groan. Thankfully, it didn’t seem anything was broken, and he sat up with a bit of a disgruntled look at the older Genin. He recovered quickly enough when she announced they would be sparring, and when she mentioned picking people at random, Tatsuo moved silently closer to Zain, linking his arm with the other boy and giving Nokino a straight, unblinking stare with an air of stubbornness that suggested he would not be moved. He already knew who he wanted to fight. He chanced a glance to the other boy, still, wanting to make sure they were on the same page.

Everybody seemed to be progressing nicely in their training. Xena seemed caught off guard at first but wa a quick to oblige him. She began making seals slowly with one hand. Zainketsu eyed her intently with his sharingan, all three tomoe in each eye burned brightly. It was in this moment he was thankful that he could use one handed seals himself, otherwise it may have been almost impossible to decipher them without the familiraity. He noticed that there was a flux in her chakra partway through the seals. The seals then proceeded but the chakra seemed different. It was like the molding process started all over only this time the chakra was stronger and more intense!

What was that? Was that part of the jutsu? What did she just do?

He continued watching until the seals were done. The prowess of his eyes copied each one as she went through them. When she went to point he could see the build up of chakra in the index finger with his sharingan. Xena asked him if he was able to see. He could tell something happened other then the beginning of the genjutsu but hadnt quite been able to put his finger on it.

Oh I can see it alright!

When the genjutsu reached him he could immediately see through it and tell it was a genjutsu. It was not an issue for him to identify it, the issue was breaking the genjutsu. This one felt especially strong.

Did she just increase the power of her jutsu? Was that some type of amplifier ability? Does it only work with this genjutsu or can it be applied to any jutsu? I'll have to test that out! Thats pretty cool!

The pain from the genjutsu was intense. His whole arm erupted in pain even though he knew it was a genjutsu. He fought back a scream and used his other hands to start forming the seals to release it. The genjutsu was insanely powerful but luckily for him he had a lot of chakra and genjutsu was a specialty of his. Most other shinobi would probably be unable to do anything against the strength of such a strong mental assault. It still took quite a bit of effort and energy to release it. That amplifier was no joke. By the end of it he found himself breathing heavy with small beads of sweat beginning to form

Man that was a steong genjutsu! Your a genius! Without my sharingan I doubt I would ever be able to tell that I was in a genjutsu. That amplifier ability you used was great to. That is going to be super useful in the future! Thanks for showing me! If you don't mind I would now like to try it out for myself. Don't worry I won't make you feel any pain! Ill be nice!

Zainketsu began making the same seals Xena used. He went through them quickly and with confidence. His efficiency was like someone who had performed the techniques a thousand times, not that of a first timer. First were the seals for the genjutsu amplifier. He molded his Chakra precisely the same way as his elder did prior. When he finished the first set of seals he felt the difference in power he could suddenly apply to the second genjutsu.

When he finished the seals he focused the chakra into his fingertips like he witnessed. He then pointed it out at Xena confidently. If she allowed herself to look at his index finger she would notice that it would suddenly begin to start raining giant drops of sticky blood. As the drops of blood would hit the ground  they would slowly lurch forward to attempt to cover her entire body like
chains. The bloody chains would spread across the entire body in an attempt to bind it in place, producing a state of full body paralysis.

Zainketsu was impressed with himself at how quickly he picked up the two abilities. They definitely were going to require more time to truly master but this was a hell of a start. Both would be extremely useful additions to his tool bag. He was truly grateful for being born an Uchiha in this moment. The ability to percieve and copy jutsu with the sharingan was a blessing and it would not be taken for granted any time soon.

In reality Nokino was busy trying to rally the group to come to focus. She wanted to start the sparring matches and he did two. She seemed to have it all planned out already. Zainketsu didnt know why but that worried him! If Xena had been caught in the jutsu and did not release it on her own, then he would release it for her after just a moment. He just wanted to test his copy ability, he wasn't trying to torture her! He wanted her to be able to gather up with the rest of them to start the matches. He was excited to get some actual fighting practice in.

Himari poised herself and watches as Tatsuo mimicks her defensive stance. She smiles at him and nods her head. "That's it! Just do your best!" She says as he prepares himself to attack. Himari watches closely as he dashes towards her. She sees the kick coming at her leg and reflexively, at a Reflex Speed of 150, blocks it easily. She then sees his fist flying towards her face and feels his hand tap her jaw, which earns him a muffled giggle. She then sees the second punch coming at her neck and draws a response from her before he delivers a second "blow" toward her stomach. "You're doing great!" She said, smiling.

She watches him turn into a back kick before pulling his leading leg back and jumping into a higher spinning kick with his opposite leg, but she's prepared this time around and blocks both attacks. His hand-eye coordination and rhythm are surprisingly in sync with each other, even after only a bit of practice. Soon enough, he'll certainly be a nature at it in no time. Hopefully, it comes to be of use for him when push comes to shove should he find himself in a situation that warrants the need. In any case, she smiles at him again.

"You are getting better! Now let's see what else you can do." She adds. assuming a defensive position once more until a powerful gale brushes past and pulls against her from behind. Startled by the sudden change in wind direction, she looks over to see Nokino charging a rather dangerous-looking Ninjutsu and whatever she plans to do with it, Himari isn't going to sit around and find out what that'll do to her. Being closer to her interim sensei, Himari leaps forward and pivots herself to face Nokino and stands beside Tatsuo, quickly kneading her chakra toward her feet to cling onto the Rashomon's construct. Dust clouds her form and small bits of debris fly around them sporadically.

When the dust finally settles, a whole chunk of what's left of the gate perished under the weight of the attack. Did Nokino always have such large reservoirs of chakra? She'd make for a fearsome foe to fight in the future. But that is neither here nor there, the ground beneath her suddenly gives way and she finds her feet standing on solid air.

"Uh oh."

Instinctually, she attempts to measure the distance between where she stands and how far down from the ground she is. There's just enough time to execute a technique to soften her landing, but not long enough to stymie whatever blunt trauma Tatsuo may receive whenever he lands. By the time her descent approaches, she performs a hand-sealless Jutsu and changes the trajectory of her downfall at a 45° angle to safely tuck her knees, roll across the ground, and stand upright. Her landing is a little rough, she was taken by surprise by the fact, but certainly better than hoping gravity treats her well.

Upon hearing Nokino's announcement for breaking up into pairs for sparring—with a volunteer to solo train—Himari waves her hand. "I can wait on the side, Nokino Onee-san! I didn't get a lot of time earlier today, so I can play catch-up while you all have fun! Oh! And if anyone gets seriously hurt, I can heal ya up!" She beats her chest with an open palm. "I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it. Anyway, I won't be far!"

Himari heads far enough outward that the space between herself and the group roughly covers 25 meters. Should they require more, she can back up to 30 meters instead, but no more. From there, she'll commence her own self-training session involving an array of exercises designed to help improve her physical conditioning, stamina, and chakra control.

As everyone seemed to be already doing their own thing, Nokino decided it would be best to not do spar in the end. After all, a training day in its own right was enough! They could spar some other time. As she rallied everyone around herself with both of her hands in the air gesturing to 'come back here', Nokino crossed her arms again when everyone was around her, exhaled a large puff of cigarette smoke, and started her speech to infrom all shinobis and kunoichis of the change in the training.

''Heya all! Sorry to Interupt yet again. I've decided, in light of all the situation and the length that we have been training, that a spar would be best in another instance of training. Since we are an unevent number too, I wouldnt feel right to have a student, in that case Himari, be left out. So, for the rest of the day, lets only train more, together or by yourselves if you prefer! I'll still look at your progress, all of you, and will drive you to greatness! Keep up kiddos! Lets show the world how Konoha train, 'aight? GET BACK TO IT!'' Said in an energetic voice the sensei Nokino, her face harboring a half smile of eagerness.

As she continued to train herself, she decided to aim to perfect her weapon usage. After all, she thrived to be a weaponry master, and decided it would be great to use more of her wind part of her elemental mastery and understanding, as it was more often than not techniques that would be swift, but also invisible to the eyes of most, being made of only air waves and vacuum. These could also help her move around, as air techniques are known to do so and help the mobility on the battlefield. Closing her eyes, Nokino started to breathe slowly, focusing on her inner chakra confluence and synergy, slowly harnessing it by the power of the air getting into her lungs. As she focuses on the air, she try to infuse it with her fire chakra as well as her wind chakra. As the two combine to create her usual kekkei genkai of smoke release unique to her DNA, the Iburi clan DNA, the feel her lungs fill with a smoldering hot air, creating sparks. From her ose and mouth, a few smoke stream and plumes billows, forming tendril like smoke column out of her face, similar in effect to a few candles being extinguished at once, continuously. As she feel the effect take place, Nokino open her mouth some more to breathe even deeper, in the same movement, dropping her lip-held cigarette to the floor, lightly burning up the grass beneath her stance. As her lungs get more and more filled with fire and wind chakra, she now can see some sparks get out of her mouth, and a full collumn of smoke is getting out of it. Suprised by it all, and her breathing begining to look similar to that of a large dragon, ready with its fiery breath to spew flames, she realise just how strong she has become. Closing her eye once more, Nokino try to push the smoke breath even further.

After a while of practicing, she feels she is breathing smoke only, exclusively, as if she still had her cigarette in her mouth. As she is about to formulate hand seals to use this chakra unique to her clan harnessed trough breathing, her focus colapse and chakra split inside of her, as she choke on the smoke and fall to her knees. Exhausted and confused, nokino coughs large clouds of smoke, ember and a large amount of wind out of her lungs, devastating around her the vegetation with the sheer strength of the gale she creates as well as the heat emanating from her.

A few minute of panic after, she succeed in getting herself back together. ''Well shit... Guess i'm not yet ready to breathe those elements together fully... At least not in a way to channel it into techniques and jutsu using both the smoke release of my clan and the breathing techniques of grand sword masters... Maybe I should learn both of the elements breathing techniques before! This would make it easier to then combine them! Nokino you're a genius. Alright, lets try to combine first my breath and synergyze it with my fire release chakra from inside of me. After all, fire is my primary form of element, its the one that always came to me more naturally, just like Pap. Common Noki, you got this!'' Said to herself Nokino in her mind trying to push her limits to learning more and more techniques.

In the middle of the destroyed terrain, littered with unearthed plants from the wind around her, and with burnt grass patches, Nokino closed her eyes again, and started to breathe deeply, focusing her inner chakra once more with the slow inhale and exhale. With the wind starting to move again, this time, it was the embers that reacted the most, relighting small fumes and fires in the patches of dry grass around, making embers shine once more, fueled by the near release of the fire chakra energy from her breathing. As she feeled the air in her lungs warm more and more, she could smell the ash and soot, the embers and the sparks glowing around her, getting alive anew, not dying anymore but consuming whatever they burned once more. Her skin started to blush from the heat, Nokino now being more rosy of skin color than usual, and the air around her smelling of matches and sulfur, warm and flaring with heat waves from her harnessing this fire energy from within. 

As her lungs filled more and more, she could once again feel like there was embers and flames inside of herself, not burning her and hurting her, but fueling herself, and making her chakra more powerfull, her body more strong, more fast, more vigorous. She felt her reserves of energy grow, her reflexes be as fast as a spontaneous combustion, and her strength be as strong as the fiery push of an explosion. As she inhaled, all the warmth of the world around her was captured and concentrated, and as she exhaled, the sparks and flashing embers spiraled out of her mouth and nose, signifying her ability to synergyse her breathing with the element she was most attuned with.

''This time, I wont fail. I'll try and harness this breathing style into a technique! Lets say, I'll continue to breathe and create a syncronization of my breath with my fire release, and infused my body with it, making me one with fire, thus making my sword the exention of myself and my fire release to expel some of its energy. Lets do a basic fire swing to start.'' said the Iburi sensei to herself in her head. 

As she unsheathed her katana Red Flash with one hand while still breathing in the fire release style, Nokino started to weave handseals one handed with her non-armed hand, trying to harness into her weapon arm the chakra from her whole body, now thanks to her slow breathing canalyzing the fire element inside of herself. As she slowly breathed, her weapon started to glow red, and engulfed itself in flames, as well as her upper arms too, seemingly enrobed with fire, but not harming her in any sense. As she noticed the fire grasping the katana, she swiftly lunged forward with it, and in a swift and rapid motion of slashing, sent a wave of fire onward, launching 10m into a nearby rock, shatering it on impact. As the molten rock flew around with sparks and fire raining all around it, Nokino oppened her eyes only to see the base of a once present rock, now only a base, charred to total blackness, with char marks of the blast wave of flames around it, still on fire. 

As her breathing calmed down, she looked down onto the place and smiled. She got up and continued to train on her own, looking at the others from time to time to see how their training was going.

As she looked towards all the others, she saw them train too, either alone like herself or in pairs. This training was the first one she was orchestrating, and it showed! It was quite disorganized, but in the end, it worked its purpose of training individuals to learn new stuff from each others, and to train herself into doing and mastering some more techniques as well as finnally mastering her usages of ninjutsu, the specialty of jutsu that her Iburi clan teached her, her parents and all of her ancestors before. After all, she was a weaponry user, but ninjutsu was also becoming more and more her specialty too, making it on par with her weapon usage and making Nokino a versatile opponent and kunoichi, both in short range and with ranged attacks invoked with her chakra trough jutsu now. 

Nokino took some time to look at the others training, reflecting also on what they did before this chaotic each one for themselves training. They prepared and used a multitudes of ninjutsu, ranging from the most average fireball, to the rasengan that she displayed, to the lightning release that Xena teached the others, mainly the uchiha kids, and the shadow clones weaved by herself as well as with Tatsuo, the youngest of the training group. With this in mind, she tought to concentrate on it all, the notion of harnessing one own chakra into their hands to cast ninjutsu, the most basic but powerfull form of Jutsu. As she closed her eyes once more to channel energy into her hand, she start to do the same as usual to form the rasengan sphere into the palm of her left hand, but this time, wait and try to infused it with her own elemental afinities, channeling the wind release chakra she knows into the forming ball. 

As the chakra form into a blue ball of pure energy into the palm of her hand, growing each second a bit more, the air around the formation start to spin, sending small dust and debris everywhere spining around her like a miniature weak tornato gale was forming. As the rasengan ball grew in size, it began to brighten, and shift from its chakra pure blue hue to a pale white energy, swirling around and protruding blades made of pure energy out of it. Seeing how it goes more powerfull than usual, Nokino extand her arms farther to prevent the forming blades from hurting herself. The chakra windy blades start to grow longer from the rasengan, and start to spin around at an increasing rate, spining so fast that it become hard to distinguish their spining rate.

Herself suprised of what she is forming, Nokino try and raise her arm, and has she thrust the arm up front, it send the winged bladed rasengan infused with wind forward at a super speed, flying in a maner of a giant shuriken. As the projectile is sent toward the forsest, it cuts down trees and chop in half stone alike, before disapearing in the distance with a path of cleared vegetation, easily distinguishable into the forest. A few second after it goes to far for the eye to see, a chakra explosion occur, sending trees and dirt upwards from inside the forest where the chakra projectile ended. 

''Hell YEAH!'' said out loud Nokino, realizing she just succeeded in casting Rasenshuriken for the first time, a legendary renowned technique dating from before the Cataclysm. This was an incredible breaktrough, and for herself do cast this, she was extremely proud. It meant a thing that she thrived to do for years, something that she wish her family was still around to see it happen. 

''Mom, paps, it finally happened! I surpassed you both, I finally mastered something you never could do! I hope you are proud of me... if only you were here to see me...'' tought to herself the Iburi blonde kunoichi, a tear running down her cheek as she was getting emotionnal for the learning of such a technique and what it represented.

She didnt know if others were looking at her doing the breathing and the rasenshuriken, or if nobody cared, but to herself she felt quite proud to say the least! 

This moment brought her and her mind to some memories of her dad one of the last before her parents both died....
