She sighed and shook her head, she did not have enough Ryo to rent a place and almost anything she could rent was inside the city and she was still a country girl. She gathered her things and went down for breakfast. The atmosphere was rowdy, and the table cramped. Once a thing starts bugging you it does not stop until you fix it. She bid her family goodbye and started making her way down to mission central for her daily dose of missions.
She entered the mission hall and went around to look at the mission posters to find something to do. She was taking her time and reading through all the material and found an interesting one, it was actually perfect. Hoshigakure no sato was offering a house building program, you could claim an area, collect materials and build on it ... and even get paid for doing it. "A D-rank mission to build my own place ? Yes, please." She wrote down the specifics and went to the front desk.
"Hello i saw this mission posting for building my own place, can i register for it?" The man behind the counter nodded and gave her some forms and a map. "You can claim a few acres in these forest areas, or a small plot inside the city." She looked over the map and found a place that would be a 10 min run from her parents house, which would be perfect, and near a small river even. She pointed at the place on the map "Can i claim this area?" The man smiled and nodded and guided her to filling out the forms.
Ryunata left mission central and started walking back home, she had to inform her family first. coming back to the house she saw her brothers and sisters pulling weeds, her father helping them and her mother providing support. She waved at them and they all welcomed her back. She went over to her parents and told him about the idea and how the plot was a ten minute run from home, well ten minutes at her speed anyway.
Her parents understood, but her siblings were resisting a bit. She explained how she needed room for all her books and pointed out her room was an absolute mess because she could not store anything. After a bit of discussion they all accepted this was the best for her and they would have an extra room. They offered to help but she explained it was her mission and if she needed a hand she would definitely come and get them.
She got some materials from the shed to start the work when she got there and left, waving goodbye to her siblings and parents. Looking at the map she casually walked over to the plot, no need to rush. As she was getting closer she could hear the river and gazed at the beauty of the surrounding forest, this area was actually pretty great.
Double checking the map she was sure she was in the right place, the surrounding area had a lot of trees and some boulders, the ground was not flat but not too bad. She placed her materials down except for the axe. She looked around and saw a few small trees, she cut them down and turned them into stakes to set out the are she wanted. Ryunata walked around the property a few times musing on what to do.
She liked the sound of the river and it was on the south of the property so she figured building her bedroom close to it would be a good idea, slowly a plan was forming in her head. Setting out the stakes for her bedroom she wanted it connected straight to the living and reading room. She had made the bedroom twice the size of what she had at her parents and the living room was even bigger, she wondered if she was being too ambitious, but she would rather have too much space then too little.
Trying to imagine all the rooms she sat down in the middle of the future reading room."What else do i need ... a kitchen area ... crafting, maybe a guest room if my siblings want to hang out, a big storage room or two and pantry" She had pretty big plans but it was all going to be ground floor. This was sounding pretty good, the reading and bedroom would look out on the river, the storage room facing the denser forest, kitchen facing the side of the river and a bit of forest, crafting area could go anywhere really. The front entrance would be in the reading room and the back entrance in the kitchen.
Slowly placing the stakes Ryunata kept thinking if she wanted to change anything. Her plan was pretty solid, maybe add a patio and a place to fish outside, definitely clear an area outside for training. But that was a long way away, she was going to need alot of material and whatever she collected it was going to need more. but that was fine the end goal was worth it.
First off she wanted to clear most of the boulders in the area, if she could smash them in tiny pieces then they could be used for foundation support. She started collecting the smaller stones in a pile outside of the staked area, then moving onto the boulders she used her White Fang Fighting style in combination with taijutsu techniques to smash the boulders into small pieces. it took her several hours to do this but at the end she had collected a fairly good amount.
Next up was collecting a metric fuck ton of wood, all the trees in the staked area had to go anyway and she decided to clear a good chunk around the house as well. She did take a couple of saplings and replanted them next to the river so she could have some shade when fighting there in the future and fish liked to hang out in the shade so win win. Hours passed as she chopped away with the axe, she could have broken the trees for clearing them quickly but she needed them whole for constructing.
Taking time to sort the logs she would strip the bark off the ones she would definitely need and made a separate pile a way away to have as potential fire wood or support beams. The stripping was made fairly easy with her White Fang techniques and pretty soon she had already cleared the staked area of all the trees. Now for the surrounding trees, she did not clear them all, a few big apple trees outside of the crafting area would provide for snacks as well as some trees bearing nuts. She figured she had collected half of what she needed, at least enough for all the foundation and the flooring.
Now she had to level the ground, luckily she had taken a shovel from the farm and combined digging the foundation holes for the log beam supports and flattening out the area. This was a time consuming task if you tried to do it by looks but luckily she had done this kind of work before with her father, knowing that if she placed a wire across from where she was working and a bowl of water to see if it was level she could achieve some pretty good results.
For a change of pace from woodworking she started filling the bottom of the foundation holes with rocks and stomp them in there pretty hard, the log still had to go in and that is why she only did the very bottom. having done this she continued level out the area. It did not matter toom much she had thrown dirt on patches of grass because in a few short months it would look all the same again.
She made sure it was all stomped down enough and realized she had forgotten a saw, grateful for the diversion she ran hom at top speed and after a mere 10 mins was rummaging in her parents barn for the saws. She sharpened them and took them with making sure to stop by the kitchen and grab a snack because it had been a long day. Realizing how late it was she decided to head to back for an early morning and more work on her cabin.

Task: the structure and building is progressing quite a lot! You have progressed enough for certains rooms to be totally completed, and for the structure to take shape enough to be recognizable. You are only half way trough with the big project tough, and you still need to work on the higher part of the structure, the furnishing, and the roofing! You might also encounter a bit of trouble while constructing, who knows.

She picked up the saw she had prepared yesterday and decided to ask if her father had any old rope he could not use anymore, luckily he had a pile of it. As she collected all of the rope she kept on feeling she had forgotten something but for the life of her could not figure out what it was. Guess she would find out when she got there.
She started running towards her plot again, maybe not the smartest thing to do with a saw but she did it anyway. But did not go in a straight line, she ran through the forests to see where the best trees would be for cutting down since she would most likely need more then what she had. She noted some wild growing melons and fruit trees on her map, a blackberry bush and some animal trails. This would come later though but was good to know it was out here.
Once she was back at her plot she started preparing the foundation beams using rope and a waterlevel to make sure everything was cut at the same height and altitude. once she was level across all of them she stuffed the sides of the foundation holes as full as she could with the stones she had broken up yesterday. Making sure everything was stomped down she also collected dirt and sand to go in there as well. A good foundation could last decades and she wanted this cabin around for a long time.
After the foundations were set she proceeded in cutting thick planks of wood for the flooring and a few stripped logs to start setting the beginnings of the walls, She started with the walls of course and cut chunks out of them at the end so they could fit nicely together, she was not worried about door and window placing just yet but that would come later. after setting the first layer and always making sure its as level as can be she wanted to set the flooring, would be easier to do now.
"FUCK, i know what i forgot ... friggin nails."
Could not nail the flooring without nail after all, the amount that she needed would not be at her parents farm, she needed a lot of them. "Off to the village i guess." She made sure she was carrying money and sped off to the villages commercial district. It took her about twenty minutes to get there and she started going from shop to shop to see if they had what she needed.
While she was there the thought came to her to get some window panes as well. "Big brain idea, i need windows." She went to the glassmaker shop and eyeballed what she needed from her. He told her the price and it would be ready tomorrow. Sometimes she can be smart and wrote down the dimensions of each pane to prevent any more mess ups.
She got some ramen and sat down in the booth with her nails. "Ok so place the flooring, continue the walls, build rafters and then the roof. And furnishing could come tomorrow."
After having her meal she figured that she had thought of everything and started heading back. Running again it did not take long for her to return.
She wasted no time and started cutting the floor planks from the logs she had collected using a trick her father used around the farm involving placing half beams down and making a sort of holder for the saw so all the planks would be fairly straight. This was not a small task and took her quite a while to day, mainly because she had decided on a fairly large cottage.
Once cut she used the nails she had gotten from town to put them all down, for the most part this went fairly quick but it did involve a lot of precise cutting and spatial thinking, she also kept some of the planks aside for when she had to cut the doors out so she could have flooring underneath those after all it was a house and not an obstacle course.
She started on the walls and about halfway through ran out of logs, no worries though because she knew where to get more. Cutting and stripping the trees was no easy task but Ryunata was not afraid of a little work, besides all the speed training she had done really came in handy with keeping up the pace. Hauling the logs was a bit heavy but doable and as she gathered more she was fairly certain she had an accurate count in her head.
Placing the walls was easier then doing the flooring, drop in the log, mark where it touched the other log, start cutting holes in between the lines and round it off. When she was about 3 thirds of the height of the walls and a good foot above her head she decided to start cutting the doors and windows out, she tried to make the doors all the same size and cut the windows out to the specs she had gotten from the glassmaker.
Precise work is usually slow work, measure twice and cut once ! She had heard this phrase too many times in her life to not follow it. After the windows and doors were cut out she proceeded to place the final wall logs. It was actually starting to look like a house. Excited by her progress she started on cutting thick beams for the rafters, first setting down a platform on top of the walls and then with great care figured out how to place the roof on top.
She did not want it to be complicated and picked a regular type low roof. She again started cutting beams but these were put down pretty fast and she started on making planks for the roofing itself, opting for a broad shingle to make sure the rain would never come in. This process took her a while because of the many cuts she had to make.
The rest would come tomorrow and she would get her family to help her with the finishing touches.

Her family was already awake and at the table waiting for her, they had a long breakfast with plenty of noise and good food. Today her family was coming with her to finish up her house and look at what she did.
They spend some time packing up things and gathering stuff they would need to finish the job. each of her siblings were jumping around in excitement, some more then others. They hit the road on a slow walk to her new place, along the way she pointed out various fruit trees and berry bushes she might move to her garden.
When they arrived her parents were amazed at the fact this took her only two full days to complete, Ryunata explained she used her training as a kunoichi to speed the process along. she gave her siblings the tour while her parents followed and explained all the things they still had to do, this took quite some time to do but communication was key to good cooperation.
Akira got the roofing job together with Ryunata she would drive in the nails to keep the shingles in place and Akira got the black tarry oil to put on the roof to prevent rain from rotting the roof. They worked in tandem Akira painting as fast as she was driving in the nails with palm strikes. Akira looked at her "You just lost the right to ever slap me again you know that right ?" They both chuckled and finished the job.
Her father together with her two younger brothers Dachi and Kaito started working on the doors and the flooring beneath them. Jiro was telling them what to do and how before proceeding to measure out and make the doors. They were simple constructions that prided functionality over beauty. They finished them off by using a oil to coat the flooring and doors.
For the most part it worked well except for when Daichi and Kaito were distracting each other but one stern look from their mother made them fall in line real quick.
While they were doing that Akira and Ryunata were picking up the glass in the cart from the village. As they wandered in she was greeted by alot of people and her brother looked at her in Suprise "Well how about that, never knew you had a social side like that." she explained that people knew her better now because she had been running a lot of missions since she graduated, it was nearly her entire focus, aiming to be chuunin in record time.
While they were picking up the glass and Jiro was wrangling his younger sons in working Emi and Hana were cleaning up the garden, picking weeds and transporting the bushes of berries she had pointed out. after that they dug holes for the fruit trees to be planted in but hauling those was not their job. They also collected wildflowers and planted those around the perimeter of the lot.
Ryunata and Akira returned and Jiro was helping them to set the glass while Emi, Kaito and Dachi were disassembling the old ropes collected from the farm and stuffing them into the cracks in between the walls to keep the cold out. Everyone was fulfilling some vital part of what needed to be done. The stuffing of the cracks took a while but of done right would last for years.
After that her brothers and father set to oiling all of the wood remaining in the house to have a nice red colour, the sun was shining and the heath was helping to seep the oil into the stripped logs. There was a bit of complaining from the younger brothers as always but they were used to that and continued working at a steady pace.
Ryunata, Emi and her mother set out to prep the kitchen, deciding where the stove went and installing it themselves, no hands on a farm can be picky, soon they finished setting in the extra stove they got from the farm which would help to keep the house warm in the winter.
By this time her father and brothers were done with their chores and Ryunata gave them a new one, make furniture. She had her matrass but no bed, no closets, no book cases, no tables or chairs. So that was a big task for them. But they attacked it like Ryunata whenever she saw a criminal, As they were doing that She, Emi and her mother went back to the farm to collect food for tonights feast.
When they returned half the furniture was already complete, Jiro had years upon years of experience and it showed. But she had to borrow them for a bit to help her move the fruit trees. Jiro, Akira and Ryunata went to the place she showed earlier to collect the trees. As her father intended to use a shovel she took it from him and told him to watch. She infused the shovel with chakra and cut through the ground like a hot bol of lead through butter, in no time the trees were on their side and ready to be transported.
They used the cart for hauling the big tree and 2 small ones while Jiro and Akira hauled another with Ryunata pulling the cart. Over the next hour they planted the various trees and the smells from the kitchen were distracting them. As a last push they set up a fence around the plot from all the small trees Ryunata couldn't use in constructing but needed to take down non the less, waste not want not.
They sat down after this on some freshly crafted outdoor tables and started to have their dinner. Alot of laughing happened and a gneral good vibe was happening. Her brother played in her yard a bit while Emi took Ryunata to see all of the wildflowers they planted. The place was looking amazing, in a way the family was sad to see her go but at least she was close by.
As they bid their goodbyes because they had some work left at the farm Ryunata reflected how lucky she really was, she did not move because they did not get along, the house was getting too small. She packed her things to go to the village and make her report, making sure to first stop by the housing office and finish up the paperwork she started and confirm this was now her permanent place of residence.
She then went to the mission central to inform the council of a successful mission and the fact that she had move, thanking them for allowing her to do this mission so she would be better equipped to deal with future ones.

She started to run towards the village which was her daily warmup routine to make sure she could go ham whenever it was called for. Arriving at mission central she noticed a man waiting outside, he looked impatient and gruff but she paid it no mind and went on inside. When the elders saw her they waved at her in a friendly manner, a bit too friendly. She went up to them and did a little bow.
"Good morning, elders. I am here for another mission if you have one."
"Goodmorning, Ryunata say you would not mind fighting a few bandits and maybe a shinobi or two right ?" Ryunata frowned, this was never asked before. "Uhm, yeh sure but that is pretty standard stuff, why ask ?" One of the elders grinned "You see outside is a man waiting on an escort, its nothing too dangerous but he can be a bit of a character, your mission would be to escort him and prevent harm to come to him ... we had instances in the past where he would pick fights with people on the road since he is a bit of a blabbermouth."
"If it is required of me I will protect him, he can be as annoying as he wants." The elders nodded at her statement and gave her the mission scroll detailing the location, as she walked outside she noticed it was not too far away but in a sketchy area. Jamil Proctor was the clients name and she walked up to him. "Jamil Proctor ?"
"Do you even need to ask that ? Do you not know who I am ?" the man said roughly
"I did not know, that is why i asked. Questions are asked to learn things not to state things because that would be a statement." Ryunata felt like messing with him a bit.
The man sighed deeply. "Yes yes I am Jamil Proctor the FAMOUS architect. Now can we get moving I have been waiting forever for the council to get me an escort." Ryunata nodded and asked him to follow her. As they moved through the gates he was already laughing at the hairstyle of one of the guards, she looked at him apoligeticaly and hurried the man along.
They did not mean many people along the road but those they did Jamil sneered at with Ryunata loudly apolizing for his behaviour and interjecting herself between Jamil and the person he was jeering at. The sight of a shinobi luckily deterred them from taking any actions. They got to a strech of forest along the road and Ryunata noticed how quiet it was, it was either the local people hunting or these bandits she was warned about.
She took a kunai and moved closer to Jamil. "Carefull, I suspect someone might be trying to ambush us" she whispered to him and sure enough two arrows came whizzing towards them. She deflected one and caught the other. "That is not going to work as long as I am standing, come out and settle this." She said with force into the forest. And four men came out from behind the bushes holding katanas. She motioned to Jamil to stand behind her.
"Lets see if you are worth the price, kunoichi." Jamil laughed unbothered by four men with katanas advancing on them.
Ryunata took on the White Fang pose and readied herself. The first man swung at her but he was so slow to her. She grabbed the hilt of the sword and janked it out of his hands then used the sword to block the other incoming attacks. She did not enjoy the company of this man and wanted to get this over with. These men had chosen to attack a village ninja on a mission and this only meant one thing,
"Die." She readied her arm for a slash and focused all of her speed into it, not only that but she infused it with lightning, something she had learned recently. In the blink of an eye she swiped her sword sideways and decapitated all four men with a single blow. Their heads rolled on the ground and Jamil gasped. "A bit much no ?"
"They gambled with their lives and lost, i made it quick and painless and that is all i could do for them. If i knocked them out and they would have left who is the say they wont attack and kill another villager. No, they had to go."
They continued to walk leaving the bodies on the side of the road. Jamil was alot quieter after this and they were making good time but not long after a shinobi stood in the middle of the road. He smirked and launched a volley of shuriken attacks, Ryunata used the swords from the bandits to deflect the attacks and threw one of them full force at the shinobi. He dodged.
She was taken aback, thats a first. The shinobi advanced on them and as Ryunata walked towards him he jumped to the side and threw two kunai at Jamil, she barely caught them and told him to move further back. This shinobi was clearly a professional and wanted to fullfill his mission and not be stuck fighting with her.
"No time to waste then," This move was a first for her in combat, she steadied her breathing and locked in into step with her heartrate, blue chakra came pouring out of her entire body and she felt so much stronger and faster. Squatting down the ground cracked as she locked eyes with the shinobi. She jumped at him at a breakneck speed it was almost too much for her to keep herself from falling but she twisted herself midair and performed a roundhouse kick to his chest, the man flew backwards but caught himself while rolling over the floor.
She noticed him performing handseals but she had no time to waste, what if he aimed for Jamil. Ryunata quickly did a 360 degree spin to gather airfriction and as she almost completed the movement she extended her palm outwards to create a spiraling vortex of pure force made up of pressurized air. As the 'Hornet' launched from her palm, twisting and writhing the man barely had enough time to register it. When it connected with his head it instantly snapped his neck. The blue chakra around her retreated back into her body.
She motioned Jamil who was stunned to him, Without saying another word he followed her and soon they arrived at the job place. Ryunata walked him to his employer as he grabbed a scroll and wrote in it silently giving it to her. She said her farewell and sped off to the Mission central.
Once there she gave the scroll to the elders and they looked at her. "The only thing he wrote was 'Amazing' " The elders praised her as she went back out and home. Today was a good day, she was able to practice two new techniques in the field and was amazed on how well that went. "An amazing mission huh"

She arrived and greeted the usual people before entering the main room of mission central. When she set foot inside she was greeted by the elders and motioned closer, it was nice to be known even if it is just a small gesture. They addressed her "A merchant just outside the village is being harassed by some local goons and are trying to make him pay protection money. This is a standard protection mission except the owner cannot know you are a genin."
Ryunata looked surprised and they responded, "This man is an old friend of the council and prefers to contract bodyguards or wandering samurai. We have told him about you and your martial arts prowess and told him you are a beginner bodyguard with some sword skills as well. He was wary but we assured him you were up to it, off course you can not use any jutsus or chakra techniques while he can see you."
Ryunata nodded in understanding, "I will conceal my true profession if that is what you require of me." The elder nodded in gratitude and gave her a map with the shops location. She took off her headband and placed it on the table saying. "I will pick this up whenever i return." The elder agreed and she left the room.
She casually walked over to the shop noting the environment it was in, she saw there was some fire damage to the building and some red markings in a symbol she did not understand. Opening the door she waved a hearty hello. "Hoshigakure Bodygaurd service, anyone here ?" A wizened old man came out from the back and greeted her "Hello my name is Dagare, and good you are here early."
Ryunata came closer "Where do you want me, inside the shop or outside ?" The man pondered "Inside for now, those lazy bums never show up in the morning." She nodded and took up position at the door. The shop looked nice and organized but she noticed some of the shelves were broken and lovingly repaired, this man obviously loved his shop and work and she was going to do her best to protect it.
People came and went and Ryunata was her usual friendly self, greeting the locals and even seeing some people from the village. She hoped none of them would mention her true job and saluted them in a way that was clear she was working and not chatting with them , in the early afternoon she heard some loud noises from outside she signaled the shopkeeper that she was heading outside and he said "Be careful they might be armed."
The shop keeper sounded sincere, she wondered why this man would not hire shinobi. In essence the end result was the same, namely no more bandits. She glanced outside and could not clearly make out the source of the ruckus. would not be long before she found out tho. Steeling herself she opened the shop door, preparing herself for the battles to come.
As she stepped outside she saw three men making a ruckus and she simply leaned against the shop wall. They noticed her as they came closer "Look at that girl, you want to come with us we have some business with the owner but after that we are free to party." She straightened herself "Then you would have business with me because i am the new body guard." They laughed and came closer "Sweetie run along before you get hurt."
She looked at the men they wore dark coloured scruffy clothes that were in dire need of replacement, Shoes looked worn out but functional, their hair was disscheveled and short. These men clearly partied every night, got up in the afternoon, extorted people for their money and went to do it all again. What a sad and meaningless excistence.
She decided to waste no time and slapped the first one across the face, using her full force the man was smacked into the ground. the remaining two pulled their swords and lunged at her one going for an overhead strike and the other for a low sweep. Expertly she placed herself between them and grabbed the hilt of each sword stopping their movements and hit each of them across the face with the other ones grabbed hilt.
Both stumbled to the ground and the third one was just standing up, not understanding what had just happened. "I assume you work for someone no ?" the man scowled "That is not for you to know" he grabbed a knife and tried to stab her. She caught it with ease hold his wrist in her left and resting her hand on his elbow she snapped his arm, the man let out a deafening scream, the other two awoke. "Right you three will take me to your leader so i can have a chat with them." The shopkeeper rushed out at hearing the scream.
"Are you ok?" he asked before realizing one had a broken arm and the other two were on the ground groggy as hell. The men were groaning and squirming. The shopkeeper looked at the scene in disbelief, looking at the injured men at her feet. Ryunata standing over them holding their own weapons.
"I am fine, i will be joining these men in a trip to their boss and i will convince him to leave this land." the man looked at her in disbelief "You will get killed !" Ryunata simply smiled at him and forced them to walk in front of her leading her to the boss.
After a few short minutes they arrived at this hovel, it was three rooms at most. She pushed them through the door and a large burly made growled at her "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY MEN." She looked him up and down, nothing but a meaty bully. She counted 6 men in the room including the three she brought in "Is this all of you? I have a proposition but need to know how many members in total."
The man puzzled, nodded "This is all of us, NOW what do you want ?" Ryunata said with a serious face "Peace." Blue chakra poured from her entire body engulfing her in a thick cloak, her movement became otherworldly as she killed both the goons next to the burly man by breaking their neck, she then calmly moved to the three grabbed one of their swords and stabbed each in the head as if she was holding a pointy stick collecting garbage wrappers from the street. She then turned to the burly man who was paralyzed with fear and saw he wore a red medallion with the symbol on it that was painted on the side of the shop by the vandals. She took it from him.
"You will bother not a single soul from now on." she said while bringing her sword up and bringing it down with such force it cleaved him in half. She left the house and noted it on her map.
Calmly walking back to the shop she got there and went in to greet the man. He looked surprised at seeing her alive. "What happened ? Did you run ?" Ryunata laughed at this "No, i convinced him and his cronies to leave the land permanently." and gave him the medallion. "They will never bother you again." The man bowed with gratitude. "Wait ill pay you now" She shook her head "No pay the organization that hired me and if you ever need help again just ask about me."
She left for mission central again to make her report, the elders were happy with her report and actions. She wanted to leave for home but decided to drop in with her family and spend most of the evening just hanging out.
