Solo Adventure

Travin awoke on his fourth day within the village. His friend had yet to return, but Travin had a feeling that it wouldn’t be too much longer before he did show up. With that in mind he was going to spend the day walking the village and the surrounding areas. He had managed to stay busy since arriving within the village. The village elders were nice enough to allow him to work on missions with other shinobi, but limited him in what kind of missions that he would be able to take on. It just so happened that he was free today of the minor missions that they was handing off to him. He was not sure if it was just to keep him busy, or if it was to give him a little extra cash. What he did know is that it was time consuming and easy missions, the kind that he normally didn’t bother with. Sitting up in bed Travin let out a massive stretch yawn combo before standing, and nearly fell over back into bed.
Walking back into the room Travin would reach over and slide his clothes on before picking up his mask and attaching it to the side of his belt and walking out the room. The hall was nice and warm like normal since the boiler was in the basement and located almost directly below the floorboards. Making his way down the hall Travin was met at the end by one Jhin who was returning from the bathroom. “Travin right” he asked looking at Travin. Who simply nodded in agreement “Jhin” he would ask back. The man Jhin would simply nod in agreement as well. The duo would walk down to the bottom floor of the Inn and Jhin would walk behind the counter. “You the one that gets the eggs with cheese and bacon right” he would ask. Travin turning to the man would tell him that he had been eating that for the past few days. Jhin would let him know that he could go ahead and take a seat and he would let the cook know.
Travin was surprised that people remembered him and what he ordered, but then again he was the only person walking around and staying here currently with a plain black and white outfit and a weird white mask. At least that's what he had been told before, he loved the mask personally. It was a gift from Granny and meant alot to him, plus it had saved his life a few times while also keeping people that he didn’t want to know finding out who he was. Taking his seat near the fireplace that had basically become his spot now. Travin put his legs up on one of the logs and leaned back into the chair. His mask is sitting on the table beside him. It was moments like this that made living worth it. The heat from the fireplace felt amazing on his feet and legs, and he was just sitting waiting on his food to arrive at his table. With the arrival of his food from a waitress he had yet to meet in his few days here. He turned and started to eat. The cook, whoever he was, was good at his job. He put just enough cheese to give it the flavor and stickiness, as well as just the right amount of salt and pepper. The bacon was nice and crisp but not crunchy the way he liked it. Travin sat in silence and enjoyed his meal.
With his plate and glass empty Travin stood up and nodded to Jhin at the bar counter and started to make his way to the door. He was going to make his way around the village for once and not be in a hurry. He wanted to meet a few people and find out just what he was getting himself into. After all there was a big difference in what you hear and what is actually happening in the village. He had heard everything about it all being a lie to get people to come up there so they could be harvested for their organs. It's not a village, just a large mercenary camp looking for work. All the way to it's a nice place to live and everyone is happy there. While he was sure that not everyone was happy here, as he himself had made a few people not happy during his stay, and he was sure that they were not harvesting people for their organs or he would know by now. The fact that it was a village with its military being former mercenaries promised a place to call home was closer to what he had gotten the impression of so far.
Opening the door and walking out he had gotten used to the cold wind by this point and no longer experienced the shiver of entering the cold for the first time anymore. Turning and making his way in the direction of the village gates. Travin knew that he would come across some people and would end up circling the entire village pretty quick. After which he would end up wandering around in the tundra for a while and see what all is out there that could survive the weather. After some time he had found the market square once more. He had been here several times during his stay and a few of the merchants remembered him from previous visits. It was a nice stop and everyone seemed happy but it was not the place to go to find out just how the village is. He kept walking and made his way out of the market square and down into the poorer district. This is where you find out just how the village as a hole is doing. If the poor district is ok the rest of the village will be as well, since not many will care about the poor and downtrodden. Walking along the streets he made note that they were still in good repair, as well as most of the houses. He didn’t really see any houses with leaky roofs or holes in the walls like he had seen with other villages. The ones that did have holes in them you could see that they were in the process of fixing them. Part of him was sure that it was because of how cold it was that you needed strong and study houses to survive here, but he did find a few people that were living on the streets as well. They seemed to be ok and somehow managed to survive it.
With his walk around the village coming to an end as he could see the Inn that he was staying at just up ahead. Travin decided that it was time for him to make his way out of the village. He had rarely been allowed time to explore outside of the village, and today might be one of the few days that he was going to be able to. He knew that if he was going to be living here for the foreseeable future that he would need to become accustomed to the area around the village, and learn the landmarks as well as the dangerous areas to avoid, or travel to if being pursued. Once he had made his way back around to the gates he stopped and told Tommy Sinns what he was planning on doing, and the man agreed that it was probably a good idea. Walking out the village and down the streets Travin gone. He was cautious enough to keep the village walls within sight for fear of getting lost in the tundra. After all, it had claimed plenty of lives of people that were far better than him at surviving out here.
At first he thought he was hearing things after all he had heard about and experienced how the wind can play tricks on the mind. He was about half way around the village and outside of the walls. Walking through the frozen wasteland referred to by many as the tundra. The sound was a voice of some kind rolling around on the winds and finding his ears. Travin found himself following the voice and before long he was standing on a snow bank overlooking a small camp with a few people huddled around a fire. He almost walked down to see what they was doing, when more words reached his ears this time much clearly with the distance lessened. Stopping and trying to make out what they were talking about, and finding out that there was a scout party sent from their camp a few miles away to get a feel for the village's defenses. Apparently they were thinking that the village hadn’t had time yet to get good and settled in and that they would be able to come in and strike and steal a fortune from the village before they even knew.
Travin got down low into the snow and made his way down the bank, his white and black clothes keeping him well hidden within the terrain and with his white hair and mask he was as close to invisible as one could get without the aid of the jutsu. Remaining silent while he closed the distance and still listening to the three men he could now clearly make out around a fire talk about how they were going to become rich men after this. Travin decided that the three of them would soon be dead men. Once he was close enough to strike, bones spread out over his skin creating a hardened suit of armor around him, while at the same time three bone claws spread out from between his knuckles on both hands. With the three men still completely unaware of his presence Travin quickly leaped up and stabbed both closed fist claws first into the back of the first man penetrating both his lungs, and leaving him gasping for air as his lungs filled with blood and he drowned.
The next two guys both pulled swords and charged at Travin, closing the short distance between them in a matter of moments. Catching the first sword in between two of the claws and with a twist breaking it, while the second sword bounced off his bone armor. Travin drove his claws into the chests of both men, hitting their hearts. With all three men dead and laying in the snow, Travin knew that it was only a matter of time before the Tundra claimed their bodies. Quickly searching their pockets he was able to find a map that showed how to get back to the camp. With the information he now held Travin was left with two choices. He could return to the village and let them know what has happened or he could go and deal with it on his own. With his blood still boiling from the small conflict it was telling him to go and kill and have some fun, but another part of him was telling him that he didn’t need to take any chances with the village yet.
The boiling blood won out and before he even realized it Travin was on his way following the map back to the three man's camp. With the snow covering his tracks as he walked and the wind masking any sound that he made plus blending in with the surroundings made sneaking up almost too easy. Just like before he was able to see the fires outside of an old log cabin in the middle of nowhere. He was also able to hear people inside talking and having fun laughing. While they waited for their now dead friends to probably return. Travin made his way around the cabin keeping a look out for guards or lookouts. After a few minutes of circling the place he saw that there was no one outside keeping an eye out. It then dawned on him why would there be. No one knew they were here, and no one had any reason to come far out. Quickly walking up to one of the windows he wanted to check inside and see how many people were in the building.
Getting up close enough to see through the window without getting up on the glass, Travin was able to clearly see into the cabin, staying a solid 5 meters or more away, and remaining invisible within the snow. He was able to see four guys still in the cabin. Which would have put their total to seven guys, at this point he was thinking that they were all a bunch of dumbasses only coming to try and take out a village with seven guys and with the skill level that the first three showed they were all going to be easy prey. Walking back around to the front of the building Travin stood and waited till he heard someone walk up to the door. His bones spread over his body and the claw regrowing back out from between his knuckles. Once he heard the door move at max speed Travin ran and with a jumping side kick slamming the door into the man standing behind it holding the knob. With Travin following the door through into the room and landing on the man now laying on the floor. His bone white armor surrounding his body and claws sprouting from his in between his knuckles. One of the men let out a yep with all the commotion and all of them quickly glanced over at him, before locking their eyes on Travin.
The first man acted and swung a table at Travins back, which shattered on his armor and pushed him forward claws first into the man that was running at him. Burying his claws into the chest of the man Travin heard the man's last breath like a whisper on his ear. Quickly rolling through and over the man Travin turned now back in the corner, and after this first exchange he had learned that he was faster and more durable than any of the men he was facing. Moving quickly and dodging a single strike of a sword as he plunged a set of claws into the man's side and moving him in front of him to take another hit from one of his allies. Travin continued to move pushing the man off his claws and onto another man who fell with the weight. Travin saw that the first man that the door fell on was getting back up, and was making hand seals at the same time as he stood up. Lifting his hand to his mouth he released a massive fireball jutsu at Travin and unknowingly at his last surviving ally. The fireball slammed into Travin but was still far weaker than Travins own armor. The man simply saw the fireball hit Travin and then watched as Travin simply walked through the fireball like it was just air. To the sound of his friend or ally burning to death. Stunned and unable to move, the man watched as Travin drove his claws into his head and finished the fight.
Travin sat down on one of the surviving boxes slightly breathing harder than normal in the snow. The bone armor slowly fading back into his body as his claws followed suit. Reaching into his back pouch and pulling out a canteen and taking a sip of water. Travin looked around at the carnage that was the remains of this place. He knew that the fire was no threat and would simply die out soon in the wet cold snow. He also knew that most likely no one would find their bodies any time soon, probably till the next thaw in the summer. When the snow lightened up and the water rose they would probably be found by some fishers or hunters, most of which wouldn’t care much and simply toss them down into the fishing hole after no one could identify them. After all, they would be good bait for the monsters that live under the ice.
Getting up after a nice rest Travin would start his walk back to the village. He had a good sense of direction and between that and his map that he had picked up off of the first set of bodies he wouldn’t have any problems getting back to the village. Where he was going to go and sit down at the Inn and enjoy a nice warm meal and a glass of whiskey while trying not to fall asleep near the fire again.
