Ryusei sadly watched Tank Akimichi take his leave. He was a decent guy who obviously wanted to get stronger. Ryusei thought he himself wanted to get stronger but he did not have the same willpower that Tank Akimichi had. This was painfully obvious as he did not seem to have improved at all after the last time he had encountered Kenshin Uchiha. He would have to remedy that. For starters, he had to learn some more helpful jutsu. The basic clone technique was not much help against Kenshin, and likely not for any other strong opponents either. If he had usable clones, he could either go the full Naruto get-up, in other words spamming shadow clones, or he could use a more chakra cost-effective option, mixing in regular clones with solid, more usable clones.
He remembered reading up on a jutsu in the library that would seem to help him a lot. It was not the shadow clone jutsu, that was fairly mainstream. Instead, this jutsu was used to also help detain people. This jutsu used the earth itself to form a clone. Ryusei also realized that he could try that funny jutsu Kenshin had used on him that used hair. He had actually read up on that jutsu as well during a prior library visit and had memorized the required handseals as was his habit, in case he had time to learn it later. It had seemed a little weird though, that jutsu, but Kenshin Uchiha had obviously found some good uses for it. Ryusei could too, come to think of it, as it could help his shadow jutsu! First things first though. He carefully practiced the handseals for the Earth Shadow Clone jutsu he had read about… or rather one handseal. It had been rather easy actually, as there was only the one handseal – the ram. After that, well, the clone was formed out of dirt and given some of the user’s chakra. It did not take much thinking to do the math. Ryusei made the ram handsign, and manipulated the earth in front of him to form his likeness. This was easier than he expected, as he was fairly practiced at moving dirt by now. Even the chakra part was not very hard, he just put in more than needed to form his likeness out of dirt. The result was able to move around, and heck, it could even talk! Ryusei smiled grimly.
This was the first bit of a lot of training he would need to undergo in order to beat the true warriors of the village. This was not too hard. He remembered suddenly just as he was going to practice Kenshin’s jutsu, that he had never fully practiced Earth Spear. He had practiced it a lot and was confident he could pull it off. He ran earth chakra through his body, hardening it as much as he could. Then he punched the a nearby rock. The rock crumbled where he had hit, and he felt no pain, as the book had said he should (and should not). He figured he had learned that jutsu sufficiently, and it was time to turn his attention to practicing the other jutsu, the one Kenshin used twice in fact.
Ryusei remembered the handseals or lack thereof, that he had read up on when reading in the library. The hair extending jutsu use, most appropriately, the snake handsign. When Kenshin had made a slow seal before attacking the three other ninja during their earlier sparring session had been the same. Ryusei wanted to learn this jutsu. His spiky hair might allow his hair to move more freely, though he was sure this mattered little, Kenshin’s hair had been pretty effective. He made the snake handsign, and poured chakra into his hair and suddenly… WOAH! He jumped, literally, a couple of inches. He had not expected his hair to grow that fast. Now he just had to control it with his chakra. This turned out to be relatively simple, just requiring practice. This stuff was part of his body, so it was easier than moving the ground, actually. When he was able to control the hair accurately, he stopped and left to have a snack and think over his next move.
