Sugimoto trains with Okami while Max trans us

The training grounds looked impressive to Sugimoto, well suited for people testing themselves and pushing their shinobi arts to new heights. The cold weather that has been clinging to Kumo in recent days made the ground dry in a sizeable oval shaped dirt patch with a tree line surrounding it like a naturally made arena. The trees leaves where gone but the age and density of the tree line made it seem like they were walls. Sugimoto remembered that his mother taught him that knowing your surrounding is key in any combat engagement.
After assessing his surroundings Sugimoto took note that his nerves seemed to be a little on edge, this would be the first time he would have ever used his shinobi training in a combat situation. Before this mock combat Sugimoto has only used his skills while training with his mother and during drills. Sugimoto knew that he needed to not focus on his lack of experience, but instead look to what he could gain from this experience. So Sugimoto would take a deep breath and focus his mind, this would be a great opportunity to learn the skills he will need to defeat his clans enemy. So Sugimoto would turn to Max And Okami and prepare himself to learn all he could, even if it meant he would take a few lumps.

Okami entered the grounds along with everyone else. There was a nice chill blowing through the air. So relaxing. The rooms that people create in their mind, Okami's would have a nice winter breeze in his. Sadly, It wasn't the time to relax. The young lycan would take off his nice fur coat and place it on the wooden pole in the field. He was wearing a plain black shirt, which at first made him shiver due to more skin being in contact with the cold. But Okami knew that if he wore the thick coat while training, it would only prohibit him. Okami would stand at a reasonable distance from Sugimoto. "So what about we start with a spar?" Okami asked his fellow genin. He knew that this would help test the waters on what they could work on.

Sugimoto would take off his mismatched and patched coat and place it aside his opponents coat, Okami would then offer to start off their training with a sparring match. Sugimoto would take in a deep breath to calm himself, this would be his first ever spar with another shinobi so his nerves seems to be a little on edge. He would look at Okami after he relaxed a little and would respond to his question “Ya I think Max wanted us to Spar for practice” Sugimoto would then pull his arm across his chest and pull, he was going to do some stretching before they fought. “I would like to learn some new skills but you said you where Taijutsu user, I am planning on becoming a weapons specialist so if you know any utility Jutsus I could use, would you mind showing them to me?”

The fellow genin would do some stretches before the match. It's good to know he's safe when it comes to sparring. Didn't want to fight with a torn ham string or something. Sugimoto asked if he could learn any from Okami but since he was a tai user and not a weaponry user, it would be difficult. "Sorry, I don't know any. But I do know some people who do!" Okami said excitedly. Be remember Nobu and his giant sword. A man like that would know something about weaponry specs.
With that out of the way, Okami would get into a fighting stance. Normally, Okami would always go for first attack, but he wanted to make sure not to go overboard. If Sugi was stronger than Okami, it wouldn't matter how hard he went. However, he prayed that the beast wouldn't awaken with this spar. "Lets go moderate strength and not go for any low blows. I'll let you go first." He made it sound like it was a joke but it was pretty serious. He wouldn't know how powerful and blood thirsty it would get.

Sugimoto finished his stretches, he felt limbur and ready to spar. Okami asked for the fight to be at moderate strength, but unknown to Okami, without a weapon and time craft some runes he could not even fight at low tier strength. He knew he going to fight a Taijutsu user with no relevant skills and or jutsus to fight with, so it was obvious to Sugimoto he was probably lose at best and at worst get his ass kicked. But that was the point of sparing to learn new skills and improve on already established ones.
Sugimoto would move into starting sparing position, with one last deep breath to calm his nerves he would call out “Ok, you asked for me to start the spar, so here I come.” with measured steps he made his way closer to Okami, keeping his center of gravity low to the ground while keeping his guard up and keeping his line of sight on Okami. Sugimoto managed to make it to 1 meter in front of Okami. His left foot forward and his right placed back, his side was left side was facing forward. Suimoto would throw a exploratory jab at max speed but half strength. His legs and right arm are left for defence.

Sugimoto took Okami up on the offer to make the first strike. Okami stood at the read with his left fist in front of the right and also lowered his center of gravity like Sugimoto did and his legs were shoulder width apart. They both matched each other in preperation, it was the basics of taijutsu that anyone that graduated from the academy would know to do.
The fellow genin made his attempt to close the gap between them, getting to a meter before making his strike. Okami stood planted in honor of their agreement until Sugi would make his first move. His speed was less than Okami's, but not by much. It would still require constant awareness to counter. Okami was easily able to see the movements of his rival. With his right arm, he would strike his left hand jab on the side, moving the line of striking away from his body. Seeing this as an opening, Okami would then crouch down at full speed and his right leg out and over to the left, in a low sweep action. If hit, Sugimoto would be tripped and fall to the ground.

(1) OKami, said mirrored so I am assuming he meant to copy me was left foot forward and right foot back with his shoulders doing the same
(2) Since Okami does not claim the how he blocks or the strength of right hand counter to my expolirty left jab, I claim it was strong enough for him be forced to shift his right leg forward to counter my left jab since, his positioning Okami claimed in his post “Okami stood at the read with his left fist in front of the right and also lowered his center of gravity like Sugimoto did and his legs were shoulder width apart. They both matched each other in preperation” This would mean he would be reaching his right arm across his whole body to block a blow that in front of him. Thus not giving him enough reach to block my left jab with any force due to lack of levage, unless he shifted his footing. Which he had to if in his post when he claims “Okami was easily able to see the movements of his rival. With his right arm, he would strike his left hand jab on the side, moving the line of striking away from his body.”
(3) Since Okami did not specify in the previous post what he was targeting, I will claim here it targeted Sugimoto’s front left foot. Plus due to the fact he did a sweeping kick while going into a couching stance would cause him to not only lower his field of view in addition to having him look down to target my leg. Quoted here Seeing this as an opening, Okami would then crouch down at full speed and his right leg out and over to the left, in a low sweep action.
This in addition to the sweeping motion he claimed in the post above would cause his whole body position to shift do to his right leg sweeping across his body. Thus unless he would strain his neck it would make him lose visual sight of me when he finished the sweeping action. Since I would end up on his left side with his back facing my direction.
Okami would be in a position with his left foot forward and his right foot back with fists mimicking the same, his shoulders, head, and body direction was an exact mirror to Sugimoto’s position. Similar to a reflection with one meter of distance with what would seemed to a outside observer to be a figurative line that dividing the two njnja. Like mirrored glass shattering as Sugimoto threw a exploratory left jab(as posted in my previous post),Okami’s first reaction was to use his right hand to block my left jab with enough force to push it away from his body, but I could use the blocks momentum to make the quick but lightly thrown left jab easily recoverable back into guard position. For Okami to counter my left jab tho, he would have to shift his right leg forward at least putting it parallel with his left foot. To Sugimoto It would seem Okami thought his block may have created an opening to exploit because after moving his right side in but still keeping the 1 meter distance, he would go into a more flashy then practical crouching leg sweep targeting Sugimoto’s front left leg.
The rush of adrenaline pumping through his brain was causing his firing synapse to run on overdrive, Sugimoto would take stock of the two ninjas positions relative to one another and immediately device his plan to exploit his opponents openings. Sugimoto was able to dodge Okami’s crouching low kick because of a few key factors, one was Sugimoto knew the other shinobi was slightly faster, so by using the exploratory left jab to leave some obvious openings, he would the limit the range of possible if not probable options his opponent would chose. This would make it so Sugimoto could to react to shorter list of possible attacks. Yet as for all the attacks for his opponent Okami to choose from, a crouching leg sweep was an odd one but still within the range of expected possibilities. A low kicks tended to work best if the opponent was fully dedicated to an attack or used in conjunction with another technique that would pull their enemies attention away from the low kick and its inevitable position recovery. Plus since Okami had to move he right foots positioning to block my light left jab, this would mean his choice to crouch and then leg sweep my left leg would be weakened by not having the full range of motion needed to build up momentum.
Sugimoto’s counter to the crouching low leg sweep would be to keep an eye on Okami’s head position to keep track of his potential field of view.Then he would (at max speed and with enough strength to as quickly as possible lift his left leg just high enough to step over Okami’s leg sweep, thus letting the sweep pass by harmlessly. This would mean while Okami’s crouching leg sweep was finishing its left to right rotation it would cause him to turn making his back became exposed while also causing him to lose sight of Sugimoto if claim 3 is true. This would make is so Sugimoto could with his already lifted left leg deliver a swift kick to the back of Okami’s head(at max speed). He would only put enough strength in the kick to support the amount of speed, then just before making contact with Okami’s head he would reduce the force and only tap it. Then Sugimoto would call out “one point for me”

Okami's movements were countered, Sugi had jumped over his leg and striked the back of his neck with a swift and nibble kick to the back of the head. He exclaimed that he had one point. Okami laughed and picked himself off the ground after the low kick. "Fair enough." He wasn't about to go easy now.
Okami would back up 3 meters from Sugi, facing him. He got into his fighting stance again. His right fist in front of his left at pectoral levels. His legs were shoulder width apart and his right shoulder was slightly forward. This would start the new round. Okami was starting to get a feel for his sparring partners movements. He felt more prepared this time.
After Sugi would get into his fighting stance to present to Okami that he was ready for the next round, Okami would start to move in, closing the gap between them. He stayed in stance though, moving in at a walking pace. Once in arms length, Okami would launch his fist at the center of Sugi's chest at a speed of 20 and a strength of 30.

Sugimoto would prepare a different kind of defence for the second round of sparing. Watching Okami get into a more serious fighting stance.(as stated in previous post). Sugimoto would with toes facing Okami’s direction spread his legs out parallel to shoulder width, then he would strengthen his stance by moving his left leg a few inches forward and his right leg a few inches backwards, he would have his arms out in front of his chest at pectoral level, his left hand slightly in front of his right. Sugimoto knew that the first round of sparing only went his way because his opponent underestimated his hand to hand combat skills, and now that the cat was out of the bag he would get no more lucky free shots.
Sugimoto could feel a difference in the atmosphere of the training grounds, it was more intense and serious and it seemed Okami’s whole demeanor changed. Sugimoto knew he would have to be on guard and use all his skills this time otherwise he may get steamrolled. Once Sugimoto was in his fighting stance, Okami would move into range and would throw a solid punch at Sugimoto’s chest. (as stated in the previous post) To counter Okami’s punch Sugimoto would at max speed step forward and to the left with his left foot and his right foot would move in tandem. While his feet made this shift his torso would twist left to right causing Okami’s punch to pass harmlessly to the right of Sugimoto’s body. He would also use his right forearm in tandem with the momentum generated from twisting of his core to push aside Okami’s right punching arm, he would use the leverage this provides to create an opening under Okami’s punching arm on his right side around his ribs. Sugimoto would take advantage of this opening by throwing a punch with his left arm at the exposed right side with the power of 15 and its speed is 25. This would be done all in one fluid motion with his footwork, his core twist and his right arm block into a solid punch. This was using all of the fundamental hand to hand combat skills his mother taught him over the years.
If the blow lands it should be a solid hit that would bruise Okami’s ribs and then set him off balance.

As Okami through his slow down punch, Sugi was given the chance to move to the side. This would allow Sugi to get the punch passed him. However, Okami was able to see the pivot of his legs, knowing he was about to preform a turn. With this knowledge, Okami would take his right foot and slide it while moving his left foot forward a bit. This would position front side to face Sugi's new position. As he was moving his legs, he also retreated his right arm back into his body (I didn't state it last post but that was his right fist as that was the one in front of the other fist).
Okami would now be able to catch what was coming towards him. As his fist traveled at Sugi's top speed, Okami would put his left hand out like a catcher's mit at his top speed in front of his rib cage, right in path of his fist. He left a bit of space for the impact to have more time, losing more momentum. Once the fist was caught, he would hold on with a strength of 20, just enough for him to hold onto the fist without him being able to let it go.
Once the fist was caught, Okami's left shin would attempt to strike the part of the leg that is in between the back thigh and calf (Note: I struggle with body part names) on his right leg with a power of 20. If struck, this should would force Sugi with enough force to make him go onto his right knee.
While keeping a hold of his right fist with his left hand, Okami would travel behind Sugi's back after he retreats his leg back after the kick and places his hand at upper back. This would put him into a discomforting position and a one that would be difficult to get out of. "Do you yield?" Okami would ask with a bit of pride in his voice. He hadn't won much fight in his time as a genin.
If Sugi exclaims that he does indeed yield, Okami would let his sparring partner go. "This time, let use techiques. They are just as important as just using hand to hand combat. Besides, I haven't had much time to work on these against a sparring partner." He didn't want to go over board, but he also wanted the chance to use his strongest technique, Wind Style: Hardliner Gale Fist.
